Bardo Pond - 4.3.06 [2006] / Bardo Pond & Pre - Split 10" [2007]
For years, I compared Bardo Pond to Sonic Youth, for anyone who had either never heard them or heard any of the lesser known bands similar to them, only because Sonic Youth is the most famous band that sounds kind of like Bardo Pond. The second comparison would be to My Bloody Valentine. But, over the years, Bardo's sound has evolved, and these comparisons are no longer accurate. Nowadays, to be precise, one must use references from all spectrums of rock, and even avant garde jazz, to describe the full fuzz of Bardo Pond.
Trying to use no comparisons at all, imagine the sound of an electrified hummingbird: sometimes there will be motion, with twists and turns in their songs; other times, the sound is feverishly kept, hovering in place. Bardo Pond creates an intense wall of sound that you expect to break through your skin, but, instead, it just hums and buzzes all over you.

The Secret Machines [2008]
“The band has always been more than our individual egos; we’re no less The Secret Machines now than we’ve ever been,” says singer/bassist/keyboardist Brandon Curtis.
When his brother, co-founder/guitarist/vocalist Ben Curtis, left the band to focus on his band School of Seven Bells in early 2007, Brandon and drummer Josh Garza knew this didn’t mean the end. The energy and emotion that The Secret Machines fans responded to over the last decade, and continue to seek, was intact. Rather than pull the plug, they carried on with their towering third album, Secret Machines.
Longtime friend Phil Karnats, who played with Ben in the Polyphonic Spree precursor Tripping Daisy and filling in for Ben, was installed as permanent guitarist. “He’s an equal third member, musically,” says Josh, who says Karnats was a part of this record’s earliest sessions. “Ben is obviously irreplaceable,” adds Brandon , “but the transition to Phil has been very easy.”
Unfazed and undaunted, and in an industry where even the smallest task can prove Sisyphean, The Secret Machines carved its own destiny. “We didn’t know what was happening with Warner,” Josh says, “but we thought if we were going to go out, we might as well go out with a bang.” In June 2007, the trio went into Manhattan ’s The Magic Shop to record (and Electric Ladyland to mix). When Warner Bros. balked at getting behind a “new” band, The Secret Machines chose to self-release the new album in collaboration with World's Fair Label Group. Josh calls it the album they’ve “always wanted to make.”
Secret Machines also marks the first record on which the same core—Brandon Curtis, Josh, Karnats, and producer Brandon Mason—were used throughout the entire process, from the earliest demos to the final master. The continuity shows in the final results, in the expansive instrumental swells, in the hooks and phrasing, in the tracking itself. Opening with the disaffected, futuristic verse-chorus “Atomic Heels,” The Secret Machines embark on a journey where their appreciation for the Beatles, Zeppelin, and Krautrock is clear but not derivative or bromidic—and they crank up the volume.
Other influences bubble up as well: “Last Believer, Drop Dead” straddles the fence between Pink Floyd atmospheric philosophy and Manic Street Preachers glam-bratty Marxism; “Have I Run Out” sets the Floydian existentialist trip set to drone-y apocalypse; “Underneath the Concrete” marries Devo’s automaton quirk to the Psychedelic Furs’ fashionable introspection.

Clear Horizon [2003]
Clear Horizon was recorded over the course of two years, as Bailiff and Pearce exchanged tapes across the Atlantic. Each member contributed vocals and guitars and layers of effects, piano and percussion gradually accumulated during the recording process. The debut, self-titled CD/LP was released in November, 2003. Since then Bailiff and Pearce have met in England to record face-to-face. The process, so far, has involved songwriting and improvisation.

Kawabata Makoto - Infinite Love [2002]
Kawabata Makoto
"Music, for me, is neither something that I create, nor a form of self-expression. All kinds of sounds exist everywhere around us, and my performances solely consist of picking up these sounds, like a radio tuner, and playing them so that people can hear them. However, maybe because my reception is somewhat off, I am unable to perfectly reproduce these sounds. That is why I spend my days rehearsing.
Where do these sounds come from? Who is sending them out? That is not something for me to know, and neither is there any way that I could find out. I simply believe that they come from the 'cosmos'. (Maybe other people would call God the source). Since I was a small child I have been prone to hearing ringing sounds in my ears and other sound phantasms. At the time, I believed that these were messages aimed directly at me from a UFO, and so I would gaze up at the sky. But once I started playing music myself, I came to feel that these noises were a kind of pure sound. And I promised myself that one day I would be able to play those sounds myself. It is only recently that I have begun to feel that I have been able to come close to reproducing these sounds in my solo guitar work, and in my INUI project.
However, in June of 1999, I finally discovered my own 'cosmos' and I experienced an instant of total union with it!! That 'cosmos' is still tiny in size - although any cosmos can, by its very nature, be infinitely huge or infinitely small. The energy and vibrations contained within that it far exceeded my imagination in scope and beauty. I can only describe the miraculous instant when my 'cosmos' accepted my consciousness as MAGIC."

Tom Carter - Skyline Grinder [2008]
TLR 047: tom carter — skyline grinder CD
released march 3, 2008 as an installment in the oscillation III series. sold only as a part of the set.
"skyline grinder" finds tom carter setting out in search of the infinite. he follows the quickest course - simply setting the ship's engines towards the very center of the sun. listen *closely* at the track's opening and you can hear him instructing the engine room that the goal is in sight and to push the engines just as hard as it takes. thirty-seven minutes later, you're right there with him.

Heavy Winged - Alive in my Mouth [2008]
An advertisement to the saturation contrast that follows spatial courses from generation to generation, the so called project of experimentation is a thin work and is represented by this disc in his form of tree, with different positions in the sky it manages to feed of the harmful particles that express our modern machines, a giant lung in the nature of the world, created with love and parallel close forces, follows the pace, continues still after dead man.
released may 12, 2008. last summer's cd release for heavy winged, blacc lust, flew out of here and really seemed to find a good home with folks. following up on that response comes the massive and dense blowout that is alive in my mouth. comprised of two of the band's dirtiest and, quite simply, heaviest tracks, it is music for tearing down physical walls. in a small departure from some of our recent vinyl titles, there will not be a bonus cd for pre-ordering the record. instead, every copy of the album will come complete with a cd that features both of the album tracks in addition to a "bonus" 17 minute track. everyone wins! alive in my mouth is be from an edition of 647 copies pressed on 180g RTI vinyl. the record is housed within heavy art sleeves bearing new artwork by michael canich (click here for a larger version of the artwork) and letterpressed by dexterity press (the same folks who we teamed with on sarin smoke's smokescreen).

Gown - For The Maples + CD bonus [2008]
Gown is a cover of velvet that inside yes hides distances and histories of the infinite spatial pack-saddle, extraterrestrial leases full of contemplative instants, the immense range of gathered utensils creates the force of his nucleus, and absorbs organic liquid extracted from the inserted neurons in the person of Andrew Macgregor, the sound is a database that you must bear in mind at the moment of listening to the disc " For The Maples ", where as a sacred book, his benefit is an important learning of cultural values in temporary routes for the map of the universe from the first initial impulse, is enough for words, coarse sewing of being manipulated, begins now.
TLR 058: gown for the maples LP
released january 28, 2008. gown (aka andrew macgregor and otherwise known as one-half of the bark haze with thurston moore) moved from western wassachusetts to nova scotia in mid-2007. before he moved, he wanted to have one big audio blow-out to remember the grand old mass times. with that goal in mind, gown went into the studio with the sunburned hand of the man gang (represented this time out by john moloney, sarah o'shea, ron schneiderman and taylor richardson) to melt some audio consoles. for the maples represents a portion of that recorded output and believe us, it's some massive stuff. sunburned's thick funk presents the perfect background for gown's shredding guitar-play. extremely hot stuff, especially the massive side-long "bending close." click here for a downloadable preview, "taylor's jam."
as per the three lobed standard, for the maples is pressed on 180g RTI vinyl. it is housed within silkscreened jackets (screen work by alan sherry / SIWA) bearing new artwork by gown. the record is from an edition of 698 copies and, and as an added convenience for our vinyl friends, will come packaged with a glass-mastered CD (not CD-R) of the material present on the wax. pre-ordered copies were accompanied by a bonus CD (TLR-059) of previously unreleased gown material.

Flying saucer Attack & Roy Montgomery - Goodbye [1997]
Deep exprimental, because in the look of the blue sky, you bring to you a heart with alive music from another planet, you teach in chapters the verbs that the past does not extract, that the future does not concern for him, is in the moment of the act sadness, when we decorate the empty spaces with multiple benefits of the radiance, can exceed four points since I mutate cosmic agreement, in the dimension of the stormy wind the signs of peace are close to an egg, incubating it , spreading in his figure of oval, a small cap of glass ground whom you were called water mirrors and that in a precocious attempt for taking, takes off you of the blood, it invites you to see your flight of the perfection for the walls of the mother.
Flying Saucer Attack and Roy Montgomery union is given, in the year 1997, Goodbye demonstrates in environmental compositions that they explore in the analogous movements of the feedback, one formulates that it results in beautiful frequencies, controlled noises that in his lapse of time are capable of shaking in the man's perpetual search a beginning.

Roy Montgomery - Silver Wheel of Prayer [2001]
