Charles Manson - White Album (Lie & Family Sings) [1970]

Charles Milles Manson (born November 12, 1934) is an American criminal who led what became known as "the Manson Family," a quasi-commune that arose in California in the later 1960s. He was found guilty of conspiracy to commit the Tate/LaBianca murders, which members of the group carried out at his instruction. Through the joint-responsibility rule of conspiracy, he was convicted of the murders themselves.

Manson is associated with "Helter Skelter," the term he took from the Beatles song of that name and construed as an apocalyptic race war the murders were putatively intended to precipitate. This connection with rock music linked him, from the beginning of his notoriety, with pop culture, in which he became an emblem of insanity, violence, and the macabre. Ultimately, the term was used as the title of the book that prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi wrote about the Manson murders.

At the time the Family began to form, Manson was an unemployed ex-convict, who had spent half his life in correctional institutions for a variety of offenses. In the period before the murders, he was a distant fringe member of the Los Angeles music industry, chiefly via a chance association with Beach Boy Dennis Wilson. After Manson was charged with the crimes, recordings of songs written and performed by him were released commercially. Artists including Guns N' Roses and Marilyn Manson have covered his songs in the decades since.

Manson's death sentence was automatically reduced to life imprisonment when a decision by the Supreme Court of California temporarily eliminated the state's death penalty. California's eventual reestablishment of capital punishment did not affect Manson, who is an inmate at Corcoran State Prison.

Oskar Sala - Electronic Virtuosity (Resonanzen) [1970]

I hold to the virtuous talent that fuses the experiences of long life in atmospheric exchanges to the unlimited compass, one I overturn of situation the vehicle stretched under the resonance sparkles complements, namely that a triangle submits the spectacle of the dwarfs who construct the pits in centuries the general renewable, memorable resources are the falls for mud to the silence, to estimate his sentimental value. It is a capsule that is located among two dimensions, where the particles of light are formed in scores for the work, I believe that once inside, only you can be surprised.

Ron Geesin and Roger Waters - Music From The Body [1970]

Roger Waters's beautiful work in Ron Geesin's, musical collaboration for the body is clear of 5 parts that they fill of tranquility and patience all the minutes of his company, a range blows with comfortable of rest, crosses the humid fog of the dawn, there this one the awakening of the birds, registered in musical notes for this work. Styles can be understood as folk, clearly, it would be meant by the gigantic psicodelia that surrounds Floyd.'s rock comment on it, it is a rarety, here in the Lethargic Picture.

Banana Moon [1970]

This wacky, whimsical musical cartoon emerged several years after Daevid Allen left the legendary Soft Machine, and soon after he'd launched his classic hippie prog rock band Gong. It was initially released on the French label Byg in 1971, and re-released in England on the Virgin subsidiary Caroline in '75. Joining Allen here is an all-star troupe that includes Robert Wyatt (Soft Machine and Matching Mole), Gary Wright (Spooky Tooth), Maggie Bell (Stone the Crows), and Gong members "Submarine Captain" Christian Tritsch, Pip Pyle, and Allen's girlfriend Gillie Smyth (aka "Shakti Yoni"). It's no surprise that the musical anarchy here resembles early Gong, as opposed to the artist's later, more reflective solo recordings. With a smile and wink, the irrepressible, mischievous Allen has the ability to sound completely stoned yet totally likeable. He also shreds a few guitar strings on the balls-out rocking "It's the Time of Your Life." And the moody version of "Memories," sung here by Wyatt, is probably the best of at least a half-dozen floating around the Canterbury scene. Suffice to say, Banana Moon is quite weird, but it's also non-threatening and a great deal of fun. Also recommended and of a similar vein are Gong's Camembert Electrique, which is a bit more avant-garde, and Magick Brother, which is slightly more psychedelic.
