Wendy Vecchi 2-Day Workshop

We are all so excited to have Wendy back to the store. She is an amazing teacher, teaching you techniques that will amaze you.  Wendy taught at my store years ago before she had her stamp line and signature line with Ranger, I knew then that this lady was going places.

A little about Wendy.........

Wendy Vecchi is a full time artist/designer and owner of studio 490.
She is a signature designer for Ranger, Stampers Anonymous and Blossom Bucket, Senior Educator for Ranger, and a past member the Tim Holtz and Maya Road design teams.
Wendy loves to demo and teach at stores and events across the country and has been published in numerous publications. She was the guest instructor for the Artful Voyage in Mexico with Tim Holtz, in October of 2009.
Her style is unique and eclectic with an exceptional attention to detail and a fresh approach to the creative spirit. She shares her love of techniques on her blog and reminds you that whatever you do each day just – "Make Art!".

You can find more inspiration on her blog at www.studio490art.blogspot.com and on the Ranger website at www.rangerink.com

Let's mix media and MAKE ART!
2 Day Workshop $225
Includes lunch both days ( 1hr. break)
Sunday & Monday 9:30am ~ 6:30pm
June 8th & 9th

Sneak Peek at the Covers of the Art Journal......

A Sneak Peek at the pages in the Art Journal......

Come join us and spend 2 full days focusing on mixed media and art journaling. We'll be creating a large art journal. YES...it's LARGE... 9 inches by 7 inches. We'll start by creating the journal covers using my art parts, archival inks and embossing pastes. When the covers are complete, we'll work on our art journal pages. Each page will have a technique as it's focus.

Since it's a mixed media weekend, we'll be using lots of fun supplies like embossing pastes, archival inks & reinkers, distress inks & stains, remnant rubs, idea-ology and much more.

You'll learn new techniques and how to use your products more than one way.

I'll provide plenty of choices for stamps, stencils and ink colors, so that you can customize the journal and make it totally YOURS.

We'll ink, stamp, stain, emboss, collage, stencil and...MAKE ART!

Please bring only these 4 items...
craft sheet, ink blending tools & replacement foams, wet paper adhesive, and scissors.

I'll supply the rest.

I CAN NOT WAIT to make art! I hope to see you there!

~ Wendy Vecchi

Oceans of Fun layout with Anita S

Howdy blogging friends!
How is the weather where you are?? Isn't it super freaky this year?
I have a friend in Colorado that got snow yesterday! It has been raining
here for days and the temp is down to the low 60s today. Not that I am complaining!

Today I have a new layout to share
using some really cute new Echo Park Papers!!
How cute is this new paper!!! It is Summer Adventures from Echo Park- be sure to get yours before it is all gone! If you are not near the store, remember- they ship!

I used a stencil and Molding Past to add some texture to my background. The flowers are Vintage Prima and the chipboards are Blue Fern Studios.

I used my Cameo to make my layered title using Bazzill cardstocks.
Do you have a Cameo and want to learn more ways to use it? I will be teaching a series of classes
on how to use your Cameo starting in June/July.
The journal card is also from the same paper line, and I used torn strips from the line to make a layered mat for my photo and inked them with Powder Puff ink from Quick Quotes.
The word art here is trimmed from one of the Journal Cards, and I added a little bit of bling down each edge to make it pop. In the upper corner I used a square chippie from MME to accent- I cut it in half so it would fit where I wanted it. These are also available at the store.

Upcoming Classes

Hi everyone! Did you have a scrappy weekend
to celebrate National Scrapbook Day??

I hope you got some great projects done.

We have some awesome classes coming up,,
have you signed up yet? Be sure to get in before they are all full!

Spread Your Numbered Wings and Fly Canvas - Anita Houston
Friday   May 9, 2014  5:30- 9:30pm    $45
Using the Techniques: Number/Letter Pictures; Stamping with Paint;  Paint Resist with Dylusions
It's always interesting to take numbers or letters and make pictures out of them, but instead of doodling them out on a memo pad while talking on the phone, you can create a piece of Art to cherish for years to come using those same doodles. In this class, you will create a whimsical and fun piece of Art that has so much character. You will use paint and ink sprays on a 9x12 inch wood panel canvas, which adds to the interest as you can see the grain of the wood, giving the piece a textural quality like nothing else. Students Will Need: Scissors *Note: You will be using Dylusions Ink Sprays, so you might want to wear an apron.

Industrial Chic ATC Storage Box - Anita Houston
Saturday   May 10, 2014   10am- 2pm   $50  (Bring your lunch)

Using the Techniques: Cracking, Altered Metal, Metal Foliage.
It's so nice to have decor around the house that you've actually made and that is functional! In this class you will make an Artist Trading Block, which is all the craze, that is beautiful and useful to store candy, trinkets, whatever. You will get your hands dirty making an elegant piece to cherish and display, as well as stash a few goodies.  What You Need To Bring: You will not need anything, but it you choose you may bring an apron, scissors, liquid adhesive of your choice.

Botanical Beauty - Gena Glover
Saturday   May 10   10:30- 1:30   $39

Come and join me to create this beautiful keepsake box using the Graphic 45 Botanical Tea paper collection. We will also use the new Wendy Vecchi crackle paste to create beautiful texture on our boxes. This would make a great Mother's Day gift!
Please bring to class: basic class kit, brown ink to distress edges, craft mat

Vintage Photo Book  - Anita Scroggins
Saturday   May 10, 2014   2:30 - 5:30pm  $42
Come join me in making this fabulous vintage inspired photo album. We will use mixed media techniques alter the book cover- painting, spraying, adding texture- lots of techniques to get this wonderful effect. We will be using Prima's new line of paper and embellishments- they are a beautiful vintage floral. A Maya Road chipboard album is our base and we are adding lots of Maya Road goodies to the book as well.  This little photo book would be a wonderful gift for Mother's Day, a Bride to be, or a sweet little girl in your life- or just keep it for yourself to shoe off your favorite photos!
You will need: Craft Mat, Heat Gun, Crop-a-Dile, Paper Piercer, Border punch, corner rounder,  paper cutter, paper and craft scissors, wet glue for paper (Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive is my favorite) , Beacon 3 -n 1 or something similar for ribbon,  dry adhesive like a tape runner, sander, paper distresser, pencil, and a black journal pen.

Class Fun with Anita Houston the Artful Maven

Hello Crafty Scrappers! Anita Houston, the Artful Maven, back with you again this month. And, quite literally I really was at The Crafty Scrapper last weekend for two classes. We had the best time in both, and here are some photos of our fun time!
Before the madness!
The ladies in the Trinity Resist Tag class all made gorgeous tags. They were so quiet and really got into the techniques.

The Altered Paintbrush attendees were a lively group, and really got into blinging up their queens. Each person's paintbrush was so unique and beautiful!

Thank you so much ladies for being such fun and great students! I enjoyed myself immensely and I hope you did too. Kits are still available if you could not attend.
I can't wait to come back next month for the Make N Take Madness! If you haven't already signed up for the fun filled day, do so soon! It looks like a blast!

Go, See, Do- Mini Travel Album with Anita H

Hello Crafty Scrappers! Anita Houston from the Artful Maven Haven to bring you a little grungy inspiration today.
Not long ago, The Crafty Scrapper sent me some fabulous paper from Kaiser Craft's Now Boarding Collection, and a 5x4 Chipboard Binder Album from Maya Road. With Spring and Summer vacation travel plans upon us, I thought this would be a good project to house those special photos and treasures from a trip.

This album is composed with a surprising technique for fabric and paper! Look for dates that I am teaching this at the store if you are interested. Enjoy the warmer weather and I hope you get to make some travel plans soon!

Anita Houston's Fabulous Classes!!

Hello there Crafty Scrapper lovers! Anita Houston, of the Artful Maven Haven here to share the details from my classes last Saturday.
My first class was a Valentine Class where we made two Valentine Tags.

It was so clean and quiet during set up, so I snapped a few pictures. You don't have to bring anything to any of my classes. I try to provide everything, so all you have to do is sit, relax, and create!

Then 23 crafty people came in and started creating. Seven ladies were even new to the store and new to classes....I LOVE that! It makes me feel so honored!

It always makes me happy when people exchange phone numbers and become new friends! That is what this is all about!

Nicole finished both of her tags, and sent me photos of them. They came out exceptional!!!

The Sunday afternoon class was much smaller, but we had an AMAZING time! A few of the ladies were a little scared of using Alcohol Ink, which I think kept some people away, but 30 minutes into class, they were pros. They even taught me a thing or two. I seriously think that this Alcohol Inked Wood Panel Class was my most favorite class to ever teach!

Thank you Carolyn for having me, housing me, and feeding me! Thank you ladies for being such wonderful students! Some of you travel so far to come, and that means more to me than you can imagine! I cherish all of you!
By the way, if you don't know this, Carolyn gives you a discount on all the items you buy the day you attend a class! SWEET! And, if she doesn't have something you want, she can order it for you, so please always keep that in mind.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!!!
 Get inky soon!
Anita Houston
