American Mary hits the Market at the Cannes Film Festival

Some girls dream of kids and weddings, Jen and I dreamt of horror stories and film festivals. In a very real way, AMERICAN MARY is like an offspring and the Cannes Film Festival is better than a wedding, prom, and all that shit squished together. On the 17th, her world market screening premiere will take place at the Gray D'Albion Hotel with a very exclusive invite list, the first ever look at the film will be available at our booth - Riviera B3 - in the form of a stellar Cannes exclusive trailer, along with potential private screenings at our own theatre at the booth.

I have never left North America, I feel beyond honoured to have the privilege of taking the film to Cannes and showing them what kind of great independent films can be made from the fucking fantastic cast and crews we have in Canada. Last night, we got together with our AMERICAN MARY team for a special pre-Cannes send off.

The film was a labor of love - everyone took a hit and worked their asses off to make something that was beautiful and at the highest level of quality. You can tell the passion of these professionals in every frame. I will never forget the team that made this possible, this isn't a usual story - you don't get too many happy endings in life like this, I'm going to make the most of this privilege to do good by the team and the people who have supported us to make this possible.

Thank you so kindly from the bottom of our hearts. You've opened the whole world up to us!

Dead Hooker In A Trunk hits up a Pub in Philly

I don't know if it's always sunny in Philly, but I do know that it's always wicked awesome. That's due simply to the fact that Philadelphia is home to Bob and Barabara's Lounge. What, pray tell, is this incredible place? Well, since you asked nicely...
"Bob & Barbara's, owned by Jack Prince (former partner of JJ's Grotto) maintains its position as one of Philly's most authentic and funky Jazz venues. Although an extensive menu of chili dogs and chips is now available for your dining pleasure, the accent is on the music and good times. A racially mixed bar, Bob & Barbara's is the classic organ lounge. Tenor man Nate Wiley has passed, but The Crowd Pleasers jam Sunday nights until 2:00 AM. Drinks are a little more expensive during music sets, but not enough to break you. It's downright cheap, so long as you lay off the Courvoisier. Since B&B has been "discovered" Fridays and Saturdays tend toward the familiar repertoire (Misty, Satin Doll, and lowdown blues) which Nate describes as "liquor drinkin' music". If you're looking for a more straight-ahead boppish vein, come when the art students have left, for the jam sessions"
Sundays, they host a jam session. Veterans and newcomers alike are allowed as many choruses as will please the crowd, and no more. Less experienced players are tolerated, even encouraged, but never coddled.

There is an eclectic mix of music on other nights, and even a drag show on Thursdays. A welcome oasis on an otherwise somewhat desolate block of South Street."

On Tuesday, September 14th, our beloved baby, DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK will be pulling up a chair, ordering itself a SPECIAL (seriously, it's only $3.50??), and spending the night with the locals. There will even be Dead Hooker dancers (yes, I want pics and videos, please and thank you) and costumes and dead hooker hilarity to be had by all. Just don't put on Journey, whatever you do....

And definitely treat yourself to a special. WHAT'S a special?! Here's a hint....

Drinking age is enforced, so don't be getting any ideas, boys and grrls....

So, get your butts to THE place to be SEPTEMBER 14th!!

And send us your pics and we'll post 'em here, maybe even send a SPECIAL GOODIE to whoever sends us the BEST pic of the night!!

XO,
Jen

"TARANTINO'S BASTERDS" MAKES TOP THREE IN MTV CONTEST

Quentin Tarantino and Eli Roth dropped by MTV: Live today for a little Q & A about INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS, which premieres in Canada tonight in Toronto. They also chose the winners of the Tarantino parody contest, awarding 'Tarantino's Basterds' as one of the Top Three Finalists. Experience the excitement here.

It's like they say, first the worst, second the best, third the nerd... and I'll take that.
