American Mary Hits the Slopes at Whistler!

It's only days before American Mary hits the province where she was born at the Whistler Film Festival on November 28th!! Jen, me, Katie, and a bunch of the cast and crew are going up for the fabulousness. Have you got your ticket yet?

"Ms. 45 meets The Human Centipede in this very slick and very sick story of revenge, directed by Vancouver’s own Soska Sisters. Katharine Isabelle is outstanding as a young surgery student who drops out of school after being raped by one of he
r teachers. To make ends meet, she starts performing illegal surgeries on body modification fanatics, honing her skills until she is ready to meet her teacher again. Gore fans will love it; weaker stomachs should stay far away."

Whistler Film Festival Can't Be Missed

'The movies will be out at midnight this year at the 12th annual Whistler Film Festival. At a private media luncheon at Cin Cin, the festival’s new director of programming, Paul Gratton, announced the creation of a late-night screening series that kicks off with American Mary — the latest horror hit by Jen and Sylvia Soska, the twin Vancouver chiller phenoms behind Dead Hooker in a Trunk, The series also screens some scariness from Toronto — The Last Will and Testament of Rosalind Leigh.
Gratton, who has over thirty years of industry experience ranging from programming rep cinemas to programming for TV networks, says his goal is to make the festival a must-attend event for B.C. filmmakers and to create an event with, “a hip, cool vibe.”'

American Mary Comes Home to British Columbia's Own Whistler Film Festival

"With apologies to Rocky Horror, the year’s Whistler Film festival has its own late-night double feature.
Vancouver-based twin sisters and writing-directing partners Jen and Sylvia Soska are opening the festival’s midnight madness program Nov. 28 with their new horror movie American Mary.

I visited the self-styled Twisted Twins onset more than a year ago when they filmed the movie, which stars local cult-indie fave Katharine Isabelle (Ginger Snaps, Insomnia) as a disillusioned med student who finds work in a bizarre underground fetish scene, doing body-modification surgeries.
Also in the movie’s corner is B.C. make-up wizard Todd Masters (True Blood, Twilight: New Moon), so there will be blood and strange prostheses.
Since they wrapped, the movie has drawn raves at genre festivals in the U.S. and around the world, but Whistler will mark the movie’s home-province debut."

THAT'S RIGHT, WEST COAST!! American Mary makes her home Province debut - 11pm opening night at the Whistler Film Festival!!
