Stampbook Saturday - Another Canvas

Hey yall!  Tangii here with a quick Stampbook Saturday post!  This page will be put on to a canvas and then added to the family wall!  I'm still learning to play with Gesso but I like the look.  I used a couple of stamps from Handwritten ("love" & "happy") and stamped on the dry Gesso.

And the rest are from Oh Snap!  I stamped on some brown and green cs and then cut out each of the shapes.

I LOVE how quickly this page came together, and how interchangeable the TSG sets are!  Well that's all from me for now.  Thanks for popping by, don't forget to pop in tomorrow for our Week In Review!

Stampbook Saturday---A Vintage Layout

Today is Stampbook Saturday at There She Goes and my last posting as this weeks Trendsetter.  First off let me say hats off to those of you who know how to photograph 12 x 12 layouts well.  LOL  Lighting and getting the page to lay flat is no easy feat and I failed miserably, but I think you'll be able to pick out the good stuff despite the bad photos.
For my project I've created a layout using the one and only photo I have of my great grandfather.  The little guy is my grandpa.  I believe this photo must have been taken shortly after my grandpa, his mother, and brother arrived in the US in 1912 from what is now Serbia.  They arrived in New York and traveled to meet great grandpa in St. Louis.

For my layout I started with a 12 x 12 piece of brown patterned paper.  I then proceeded to add distress ink and Glimmer mist until I felt I had created a vintage look.  I used a brick template and modeling paste to create the brick accents on the sides of the page.  My DP mats were inked and attached with machine stitching in brown.
The vellum strip was stamped with the TSG "Henna Swirls" stamp set and embossed with gold embossing powder.  Tucked underneath it is a panel of lunchbag kraft paper stamped with the "Journal Lines" set.  I used the "Mixed Media Background Builders" to add some aging effects to the lightest DP panel.  The gears are from the "Get in Gear" set.  I blew them up to the size I needed and then traced and cut them out of grunge board.  They're embossed with distress embossing powder.
Here's a better close up look so you can see all the details.

Hope you've enjoyed the projects I've shared this week.  You still have time to play along with my "Thanks/Thanksgiving" challenge.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Stampbook Saturday - Simply Stamped Project Life

Hi there! Sarah back today with some stampy scrapbooking - project life style.

I had an epiphany recently. As much as I love and admire those amazing, detailed, week by week project life albums I see around the net - that's just not me. I'm not organised or dedicated enough right now to make that kind of album. That's why my supplies have been sitting gathering dust (and there are cheaper ways to collect dust)

So I've decided to approach my album in teeny tiny scrappy style. No theme, each little pocket will tell its own story. Each insert I'll treat like an Artist Trading Card and hopefully I'll end up with an eclectic, fun to look at memento. I'm also going to break the rules (are there rules about these things? I feel like there are) and journal on the back - for one good reason. I HATE my handwriting. It's like someone gave a platypus a pen to play with. Every time I hand write on something I end up disliking it (and I'm too lazy to type/print on the cards). So any journaling is going to be hidden!

The cards I'm sharing today are quick and simple. I have thousands of photos like this from when Jackson was younger. No date, no reason other than cuteness. I wanted to dress up some pre printed project life cards with stamps. This one uses Mixed Media Backgrounds and In Stitches. I also added some quick embellishment with washi tape, sequins and some machine stitching.

This card I used You're a Hoot and In Stitches again. I love that little owl peeking over the card, I could see a few more baby themed cards getting this treatment!

So there you have it. Simple, quick, and at least I made a START on my album! It's going to be disorganized and a little weird...but that works out well for documenting my life!

Thanks for the comments this week - big hugs!

Hybrid Scrapbooking

Hey everyone! Chaitali here today for Stampbook Saturday!

I must admit that I'm not much of a scrapbooker. A large 12 X 12 blank sheet of paper intimidates me. Even if its patterned paper! I prefer Project Life instead. And digital Project Life at that because most photos I take are with my phone. Its easy to upload them and scrapbook with them on my laptop. About 15 mins from start to finish!

But I still like to add a handmade touch to the pages so I add embellishments and stamps to the pages after getting the prints. Its MUCH less scary to add little touches to an already pretty page of photos!

I print a bunch of weeks at a time so it was a happy coincidence that I received prints of my Project Life for the first half of this year last week. I used the Snowy Days stamp set to decorate pages from January of this year.

Here is a full shot of the page. Can you spot the stamped images on it?
And some closeups of the stamped images...

Hope you enjoyed my take on scrapbooking! Thanks for stopping by. :) Have a great weekend!

Fall Photo Canvas

For this week's Stampbook Saturday installment, I was going to use some of our new family photos to decorate an 8x8 scrapbook page, but then I was at the local dollar store the other day and saw this canvas/easel combo for ONE DOLLAR and couldn't resist! So this project is a bit of an ABC- Stampbook Saturday lovechild ;)

I didn't take pics of the process, as my fingers were SERIOUSLY to dirty to be touching the Nikon! I had my middle son, Jake, be my assistant. Helping by passing me the things I needed! haha!

I really have absolutely no idea what I was doing, so I think it turned out not too shabby, overall!
These are the basic steps that I did if you want to try your hand at altering a simple canvas into a scrappy family photo!

  1. Paint the canvas with Gesso and let dry. You can speed along with your heat gun.
  2. Adhere DP to the canvas. I used a dictionary pattern. I also used 1.5" double sided tape. I have found in the past that if you don't adhere the whole piece down, you will end up with bubbles and ripples, whether using Modpodge, Gesso or whatever other medium you might have. Also attach the picture using the same tape.
  3. Paint another layer of Gesso. Don't paint entirely over the picture, just the edges. Let dry.
  4. Stamp sentiment in Versafine ink and heat set.
  5. Now the real mess begins. Using modeling paste and re-inkers (I used MFT's Hot Fudge, Electric Red, Kraft, Factory Green, Sour Apple, Gumdrop Green, Lemon Drop and Orange Fizz), make 'piles' of coloured paste on a painters palette (or the lid to an ice cream pail, if you are super professional like me). Stir with a toothpick to mix the colour into the paste.
  6. Using your fingertip, pick up paste and daub onto canvas. It doesn't really matter in which order, but I went from browns to greens to red/orange/yellow. Your fingers are going to be a mess. Don't bother washing in between, colours can mix. Embrace your inner child. You know, the one that dipped the paintbrush in every colour without rinsing it off. We are trying to reproduce fall leaves, if you haven't already figured that out, and nature isn't perfect!
  7. I then took a paintbrush and added flecks of white modelling paste for highlights.
  8. Wait for this mess to dry.
  9. Spray with Gold (or whatever you have) Perfect Pearl mist, cover the photo with a scrap of CS as you go. It's pretty much impossible to not get a mist of gold on the photo...it seems to find it's way under the CS. That's okay. I did this on a piece of cardboard in my storage room and it's safe to say the nearby summer shoe bucket got a mist of gold. I'm sure the boys will be thrilled ;) Use your heat gun to dry the mist.
  10. Stamp the leaves. I used Electric Red and Gumdrop Green, as well as versamark with bronze and gold embossing powder. Fussy cut them out. Spritz the leaves with pearl mist. Shoot with heat gun.
  11. I added some Hemp cord around the canvas.
  12. Using hot glue, affix the leaves to the canvas.
  13. Tie a double hemp bow to an antique button and hot glue down.

For the easel portion of the product, I painted with white acrylic paint (also cheap dollar store find- no need to get fancy, it's an undercoat). After that dried, I used a sloppy technique to add Distress Crackle Paint (Tim Holtz) over top. This appalled my son, who is an aspiring artist. He now thinks I am the world's worst painter for missing so many spots.
Wait for that to dry. It wasn't quite done to my liking, so I added another coat of crackle paint- this time in clear. It gave it a more shiney, finished look. Like a glaze would.

The TSG stamp set I used is called Autumn. And it can be yours for 9 easy instalments of $1.00 :)

I hope you are having a wonderfall weekend! To all of our Canadian friends (like me!), Happy Thanksgiving!! May you be surrounded by the love of family and have a belly full of turkey dinner!

Thanks for hanging out with me this week!!

Stampbook Saturday

Hello, happy weekend!!!!  Tangii here with this week's Stampbook Saturday.   This started off as a Grad page for #1 son, but then I found a couple of other pics I wanted to add.

The sentiment panel is from This is My Life, then I added some elements from Mixed Media Backgrounds... I LOVE the 'clumps of dots', I just kinda used them as filler here & there.  The heart, arrow and star are also  from MMB, I cut them out and popped them up a bit.

The "celebrate" and "love" are from Handwritten.  All 3 sets also have coordinating Slhouette Cut Files.  Well that's all I've got for ya... thanks so much for popping in :)  Have a great weekend!

Stampbook Saturday- Stamped Embellishments

Hi everyone! Wendy here and I'm excited to be scrapbooking with you this weekend for Scrapbook Saturday!

Many times when I stamp in my scrapbooking its to create backgrounds, but for this layout I wanted to use the stamps as embellishments. I went through and found stamps in my There She Goes sets that could be used to describe my husband. Can you find all the stamp sets I used?

There She Goes Stamps Used:
School Doodles (arrows, "you are",  "I heart", "cool")
Scootin' By ("U Drive me Crazy")
Aquaholic (fish)Shiver Me Timbers (skull)
Ginger (hearts)

Have a great weekend!

Stampbook Saturday - Oh Snap!

Hi, everyone! Heather P. here with this week's Stampbook Saturday post, which features some of the images from the Oh Snap stamp set.  I based my layout on a fun pic of our pup... He's always getting into mischief! :) For my daughter's 8th birthday, I decided to surprise her with a room full of balloons, which would be waiting for her when she returned home.  Our doggy, being the curious little guy he is, decided to investigate and "help" me arrange them throughout the room.  So thoughtful, right?? Lol...

I couldn't decide if I wanted to add any journaling to the page or not, so I tried to design my layout in such a way that if I changed my mind, there'd still be a natural spot for it to be added in later. :)

Have a great one!

Stampbook Saturday - Journaling Cards

Hi everyone, Sarah back today for Stampbook Saturday!

I have a confession, a dirty little secret, a shocking revelation. I am a hoarder of craft supplies, and I have a ton of U.F.O's (unfinished objects)

Ok. Maybe that wasn't so shocking, but it's true. Among my not-yet-used supplies are all the makings for a Project Life style album. I just haven't *quite* got around to putting it together yet. While I procrastinate I thought I'd make some CUTE journaling cards using There She Goes stamps so I have something adorable to work with. When I get around to it.

I've used stamps from the new and new-ish sets, This Is My Life and School Doodles. I've also used  In Stitches for all the journaling lines on the cards. I used the same paper (Everyday Eclectic - Echo Park) for each card to keep them cohesive. Let's take a quick look at each one...

I thought this card would be great for a travel page, or anything nature themed. All the stamps on this one are from School Doodles. It only took a few seconds to stamp the journaling lines, and I loved that using the single line stamp meant I could leave space for my images!

I thought the pencil would be cute at the start of the panel. The sentiments on this one are from This Is My Life.

I combined both sets again for this card. I love the sentiment almost hidden vertically along the side. And that little bird looks like he belongs perched there, right?

My last card is all the new School Doodles. I can't get enough of those little stick figures! How great would this be on a page about a first day of school?

I hope I've shown you how quick and easy it is to make your own, custom journaling cards and just how AMAZING these two sets look together!!

Stampbook Saturday with Jenny

Hi there! It's me again! I have a few pages to show you today, that I made for my Snapbook (Simple Stories). Snapbooks seem most like a cross between Smashbooks and Project for Life. There are pages that are photo sleeves and then there are journalling/ smashing pages as well. This is my first go at this kind of scrapbooking (I am guilty of having purchased both Smashbooks and Project for Life, but have not used either yet).

Just a few weeks ago, my little family packed up and went on our annual trek to visit my family in Victoria, British Columbia. We decided to take a detour on the way home and headed into Washington, and then Idaho, on our way home to Alberta. If you have never been to Victoria, it is a beautiful city! Anyway, we took a ferry from Sydney to Ana Cortes, Washington. It was such a gorgeous trip, sailing right through the San Juan Islands. I loved it!

The first page, in the two page layout, shows pictures of us on the ferry.

Our little pirate friend and the sentiment are from the set Shiver Me Timbers. The fish down on the bottom are from Aquaholic.

The second page shows a few pictures of the boys at this really AMAZING restaurant in Seattle that we hit up on our first night there. It was called The Crab Pot and was so fun!!! My hubby and I ordered some kind of feast that they literally dumped on the table, after covering it with news paper, putting bibs on us, and arming us with wooden mallets and thick wood cutting boards to eat/ pound on!!! The kids of course, were gagging and complaining about the smell of the crab, prawns, mussels and clams that we were gorging ourselves on! lol! Poor landlocked little prairie mice! No taste for ocean cuisine!

I used the lobster and crabs from the set Beach Bums and 'caught them' in mesh net ribbon!  I also anchored the sentiment (HAHAHA!) with one of the critters. The title is Thickers and black CS letters that I cut using dies.

I hope that you've enjoyed a little peek into my life! Adding stamps to your scrapbook layouts is a fun and economical way to add pizazz to those pages! I encourage you to dig through your stash of TSG stamps and find one, or a combination like I did, that will work for your photos!

Stampbook Saturday: Lovebots

Hey yall, Tangii here with a "teeny bit tardy" Stampbook Saturday.  I am loving all of the storms we are having here, but don't much care for lack of internet or electricity when the storm goes a little crazy ;)  Anyhoo... recently my baby "graduated" from Middle School so I decided to make this page for him (last time I did a Stampbook Saturday post I'd used HS Grad pictures of my daughter).  I'll make another for my middle son and then put them all on canvas'.  Since I was behind because of power, etc. issues I paired up my page with one of last week's TSGA sets, I chose Lovebot.
Now I have to admit that I haven't really scrapped since looooooooong before my card making days, so I am VERY happy for Stampbook Saturdays!  This page was so much fun to make!  The sentiment in the middle is from the set, and I cut around my Lovebot and then popped him up with Sticky Thumbs (pop dots).  Well I hope this motivates you to tackle a scrapbook page or two.  Hope you have a wonderful rest of the weekend!

Stampbook Saturday - On the move

Hi!

Karin here to bring you the Stampbook Saturday post. For my LO I used Torico's wonderful images from the set On the Move which I thought worked really well with these pictures of Ted in an IKEA crate on Wheels.

Have a wonderful week-end, hugs, Karin

Stampbook Saturday with Tobi

Hi there! It's Tobi Crawford here with our Stampbook Saturday feature!
So anytime I have to do a layout I try and get a few more of my wedding photos scrapped. So you're stuck with looking at pictures of my cake - but it was an amazing cake so it's ok!!

I made the patterned paper with PanPastels because it was one of those papers with clear embossing on it (that was made for mists, but I used pastels...) so I made it rainbow like my cake! So I rubbed the colours onto the paper and added some stamping and journaling!

I used the stamp set FABULOUS in Archival ink in black because there were some other black elements on the layout and it made the whole page homogeneous.

Yes, it was as good as it looked. We didn't have a fancy venue, I didn't pay a lot for my dress, but there were a few details that my husband and I were willing to pay for and getting the cake of our (my) dreams was one of them!! (I first saw this cake on the cover of a Martha Stewart magazine and I knew it had to be mine!!)

Thank you for joining me this week! I've had a blast.

Beach Bums - Stampbook Saturday

Hi there!! It's Angela here and yes, I'm super late with this week's Stampbook Saturday. Rather than doing a  Stampbook page, I decided to show a fun scene I created last summer for one of the galleries while I was Dirty Dozen at Splitcoaststampers.  I had a ton of fun creating this scene using a variety of dies and some images from the set called "Beach Bums".  The two kid images and the palm tree were stamped with Versafine Onyx Black ink and then colored with Tombow Markers. For the sand, I tore the edges of some designer paper and then sponged the edge with Chocolate Chip ink.  The waves were created with a wave die and then sponged with Bermuda Blue ink.  I have also sponged the edges of the sun and the clouds with corresponding inks.

Hope you like it!!!

Stampbook Saturday: Splash of Color

Hello everyone!  It’s Danielle, and I’m back with a bit of scrapbooking today.  It has been so long since I’ve done any scrapping so I thought I would try something simpler and make a page using one of the Project Life pages.  Well, I got the pictures printed and the first two 4” x 6” panels finished.  This is going to take me a while… ;)

ColorSplash2013_ProjectLife_DanielleLounds

While visiting the family a couple weekends ago for my niece’s high school graduation I took part in a 5K Splash of Color run/walk (yeah… we walked, but it is still 5K).  It was overcast and messy but tons of fun and we have the t-shirts to prove it. Ha ha.

For my little pages I used some Fancy Pants designer paper and two There She Goes stamp sets: In Stitches and Oh Snap!.

ColorSplash2013_ProjectLife_Closeup1_DanielleLounds

I normally use a ton of foam dimensional tape but I didn’t on these pages so that they wouldn’t be so bulky.  I did add some stitching, washi tape and pearls. My faves. :)

Hope you are inspired to get out your pictures and do a bit of stamping and scrapbooking.  Maybe when I finish the other 2/3rds of the page I will share it… heh heh heh.

Stampbook Saturday - Cute as a Button

Kim O'Connell checkin' in to bring you this week's
Stampbook Saturday post.

When my kids were little, I started scrapbooking, but life got too busy.  I kept throwing pictures into the blank pages of the scrapbook with the intention of getting back to it on day.  Unfortunately, it never happened.  I did flip through my old scrapbook and I pulled out of of those pics that I stored in there.  Clearly, it was a long time ago because my daughter Lauren is now 11 and my son Jack is now 9.   They were still a couple of nuggets in this photograph.

I used the Cute as a Button stamp set to make this scrapbook page.  I stamped the vine as a border on the top and bottom of the page and colored it with copics.  The sentiment is also from that set.  I found a cute heart shaped button and added some baker's twine to embellish.

Have a happy Saturday!

Stampbook Saturday: puppy love!

Happy Saturday everyone, it's Mary J here with my last day as this week's featured Trendsetter.  Okay, so here goes - my very first ever scrapbook page!  I must say that I like my little "canvases" on cards - I found the huge space on my scrapbook page really hard to fill up!  Of course, I had to do a layout with my two fur balls, Poppy and Lulu, and wanted to show them in their usual place, lying by my desk and snuggling each other!

I'm not sure if I like my first 8 x 8 page that much, but I do love the stamps I used!  I has to use one of my all time favourite stamps called Puppy Love by illustrator Torico.  I used Kristin Cronin-Barrow Pumpkins and Spice papers and My Favorite Things fishtail banners.

Well I need a lot more scrapbooking practice but not a bad start!  Thanks for joining me on my week as the featured There She Goes Trendsetter!

Stampbook Saturday With Sandra

Hi everyone! I hope you're having a great Saturday so far.

Did you see all the fabulous cards showcasing the Oh Snap set yesterday?! I love that set! It's a perfect set for stampbooking too - did you check out Heather's page...gorgeous!

I was so inspired by her layout, Torico's card and Wendy's stampbook page that I created a little 8x8 page using the Oh Snap! set.

TSGOhSnapStampbook_BySandraMacLean

Don't you LOVE that background?! I used the smaller images from the set and some white ink to create it! And because it turned out so great, I kept the photo and other elements to a minimum. Other stamps used from the set are the 'frozen in time' sentiment and the 'date taken' image.

I hope this inspires you to create your own stampbook page today!

:)
