Sewing Machine....Unique Find

Got a 'new' sewing machine on our trip.
(I have a weakness for them)

It is a Gold Hibbard.
Have you ever heard of that brand?
I can hardly find anything on internet about it,
except that there not a lot made, like Singer
and other mass produced machines.

It is in it's original cabinet, and treadle still works.
Belt needs to be replaced and it is ready to go.
(If you click on the pic you may be able to see the
ornate drawer front in center. I forgot to photo it)

Here are the drawers. Three on each side.
Most pulls missing, but they are beautiful..

And look at these little bobbins..
Aren't they sweet?
I've never seen any like these.

and here is their little holder place in the drawer.

If you have any info on this machine I would love to know.

thanks and blessings

Vintage Sewing Machine

Fell in love with the cabinet on this machine.
No, not fancy, or wrought tron, or lots of cool drawers,
but I thought it would make the most adorable desk..
painted white, antiqued..
See the top leaving against right side of cabinet?
Just fold machine down, and set on top, instant desk!

and I love the old machine too.
Look at the detail they used to put on them.

love the detailing. Molded iron...scrolly. so beautiful.

 more detail.

 look at the end piece.
I just love it all.

 and rust!!! =)
You know how I love rust.
beautiful..

That's my treasure for today.

be blessed

Fun Finds, Sewing Machine, and What Is It???

Well OK folks. Here is the latest o the sewing machine.
That 'crank thingy' as I called it previously, is indeed the 'knee' pedal
as some of you said.
We attached it, hung it over the edge of the table,
plugged it in and the machine ran!!!
I threaded as best I could figure out, ran a piece of fabric
through it, and it sews like a dream....
except that the tension is off and thread loopy on the bottom.
I'm guessing it is because I do not have the bobbin in right somehow.
I'll have to check it out via serial number and see what I can find.
But here is something cute: see in the top bobbin picture that little button?
If you push on it with your finger it pops the bobbin up to get it out.
Isn't' is cute?? (OK. I know I am easily entertained.) =)
Anyway, this thing sounds and runs great.....
on to some new finds now.
How about this sifter......It has removable lids on both ends!!!
interesting.

here is just an ordinary sifter, but love the creamy yellow, and green.
some silver 'tongs' of sorts. What are they for???
 not sure. any ideas???
 And...mystery item of the day.....
This is silver, about 3" tall, sits, has 2 lids, with separated compartments.
Lettering: maybe E and H??
Thanks for all your help blogger friends.

Sewing Machine

OK, so I showed you this a couple of days ago.
I bought this sewing machine from a  lady who could not get it open.
(hoping  I would be able to).
I posted it on here and asked if anyone knew how to open it.
Tah dah!!
My new blogger friend at Lady Locust
told me how and it worked!
Isn't it beautiful??
OK now, does anyone know what the 'crank' thing does??
This machine is in great shape, by no foot peddle to run it.
It may be another one we take apart.=)
Look at this beautiful end piece.

Blessings all

More Metal Fun

Were you here when I showed you these parts on Tuesday???
I asked if anyone knew what they were from?
Well, here are some more parts ..... from the 'inside'.
 and underside.....
and end..... any guesses yet???
this is sure to be a giveaway....
 or maybe these are.
 For sure now......

you guessed it!
 A sewing machine.
or at least parts of one.
Here's the story.
I had this sewing machine on a cast iron base.
No one would buy it.
So, I decided to take it apart.
I took the machine out, and selling the base as a table separately.

Then I started taking the machine apart.
Just for fun. Just to see how it works...
and to use the parts.
like this end with the needle shaft and holder.
the back side is even cool.

and look at these close ups.
 fun huh???? I'm lovin' it.
and I'm going to use the stripped down sewing machine,
with wheel, as a plant holder on the patio. (for sale of course).
any other ideas????

This is the second piece of 'machinery' I have taken apart.
It is so much fun. hmmmm. What next I wonder?

thanks for coming by for my craziness.

PS stay tuned: I think I will make a collage out of the parts.
Dare to be different I say. =)
