The Family Tree

Hello!

This weekend our family will adventure out into the wilderness to get our family tree.  Something we have been doing since James and I got married.

The kids love the adventure, and it is a nice memory making tradition.

I used Eat Cake Graphics stamp;

What are some of your family traditions?
Do tell!

Happy Krafting,

It's an Eat Cake Graphics type of Christmas

Good Morning,

Are you excited for Christmas? We are!

Just like Eat Cake Graphics'

I brought some of my images to work, and colored during my breaks.  I then made up fun scenes using Delicious "October Afternoon" Christmas Design papers.  Adding a bit of Washi tape, and some bling.

What is on your wish list?  I am wishing for big snowflakes, baking cookie time, warm hugs, and fun family laughter.

Happy Krafting,
Hugs

Cupcakes Anyone?

Good Morning!

Here is another multi-layered card using my Eat Cake Graphics stamps.
Eat Cake Graphic Stamps Used

Birthdays are all about fun times, with friends, being happy together.  Yellow to me is a sunny, fun and warm colour. Thus pairing these elements all together makes Baxter one happy bear, ready to share his cupcakes with friends!

Do any of you have any birthdays coming up?  What makes your day special?

Hope to hear from you!
Hugs,
Tanya

One Star at Twilight

Good Morning!

It feels so good to be back in blog land, please drop a comment to let me know how all you crafty ladies are doing!

Here we are with my Eat Cake Graphics DT card using

Bert Batula (5033-D) and
Skully Flowers (7077-E)

I am quirky, and I love bats and skulls and monotone/earthy colors. The idea for this card came from the Design Paper.  Twilight, Stars, Bats, Friends and a quirky sentiment to remind the friend I am sending this to that I am thinking of her.

What kind of Quirky things do you like?  What are your favorite colors?

I am in a crafty mood, so stay tuned, there will be more creations coming your way.

Happy Krafting,
Hugs

Stampotique Time

Hello,

I am loving the Stampotique stamps my DH got me for Christmas in 2011. They are unique, and add a distinct uniqueness to the cards I make with them. Especially the stamps by Daniel Torrente and Jill Penney.

So sorry the image is a bit blurry, I have to find a new place to take pictures.  The canvas I was previously using was taken and used to create artistic pictures by my kiddos.  Not to mention that my batteries were running low as well.

This is going into the Stampotique Designer Challenge #94, Flowers.  The paper has flowers on it, she is holding a flower, and I cut the design paper out to make a flower.

Happy Tuesday!
Hugs
Tanya

For My Daughter

Hello,

My first post in 2012. I seem to have lost my Mojo. Actually I have been enjoying time with my family, and they have not been complaining one bit.

I am staying true to my New Years Resolutions, inking up stamps and using up my paper stash. The 2 stamps above have been sitting around getting dusty, and I have been meaning to ink them up together like this for some time. Well that time is now. This SCACD stamped image looks identical to my 7 year old daughter, horse collection and all. Thus this card will be given to her, just because. And of course she will squeal and hug me, because that is what she does when I give her one of my creations. Yes, she certainly is good for boosting my moral.

On a sad note,  PWCO has closed shop.  Being on the PWCO design team made my list of  2011 most memorable moments. I will certainly miss the whimsical stamps, the Anything But A Card posts, the fun blog hops and stamp releases.  Thanks Peggy, and thank you to all the DT gals, especially the fabulous DT coordinator Stephanie, I hope we all keep in touch.

Hugs,
Tanya

PaperWorks Co. Recipe Friday Challenge

Good Morning,

We have a FAB FAB FAB recipe challenge for you today over at PaperWorks Co.! Get ripping ladies, distress you creations, and add some lace and pearls.

I took out Garden Fresh Abigail, and then went to town with my distressing. Gardening is by no means a tidy and clean event, so I think the look of the card goes with how one looks/feels after gardening on a hot summers day. I added a tad of lace ribbon, and then incorporated some pearls. I had to give Abigail some pearl earrings too!

What will you come up with? ANYONE can participate, as long as you follow the recipe. If you use a PWCO image, then you double your chances of winning. So I really hope to see some of my fab followers playing along this month. Yup, you read that correctly, you have the whole month to enter your PWCO Recipe Friday challenge masterpiece.

Happy Friday,
Hugs

Pixie Cottage Challenge #86

Good Morning,

Welcome to another "Once Upon A Wednesday" Pixie Cottage Challenge #86. Our theme is MELLOW YELLOW. We have also provided the sketch above for you. Feel free to use both, or split the challenge up. As long as you have fun, it's all good.

I used Hannah on A Swing, a Pixie Cottage stamp available at Michelle's Scrapbooking and More.  I think this is one versatile stamp that is perfect for Summer, Spring or Fall, depending on how you color the leaves in the tree. I trimmed the image up a bit to make it fit on the card, adding clear chunky glitter around it, and continued on to add ribbon, baubles, pearls and pins. This card is my last attempt to hold on to the wonderful sunshine we have been blessed with this summer.  Althought I have to admit, I love the fall season, simply because wearing sweaters and jeans are amongst my favorite thing.  How about you?  What season do you prefer?

Have a wonderful day ladies,
Hugs,
Tanya

Pixie Cottage Challenge #80

Good Morning,

Once Upon a Wednesday over at The Pixie Cottage has a wonderful embossing challenge for you. Having a hard time deciding what to create? Why not try your hand with the sketch below. In order to enter, all you have to do is use the sketch and/or the embossing theme. Just by doing that you qualify to win the weekly prize.

My card today uses The Pixie Cottage's South End Girl. She is one of my all time favorites.  I matched her dress up with the red in the design paper instead of paper piecing today. My embossing is minimal, but nevertheless important I suppose.  I have a wonderful box of metal embellishments, and they are silver.  I really felt that gold worked best, so I VersaMarked the metal bit, dipped it in gold embossing powder, heated it up, and VOILA.  I have a nice gold flower embellishment in the lower right hand side of my card.
Well, that's it for me, a nice short post for today.  I can't wait to see what you create ladies, I am always up for some inspiration.

Hugs,
Tanya

Challenges this qualifies for are:
The Crafty Pad: Wet or dry embossing (I wet embossed the silver metal flower with gold embossing powder)
Totally Gorjuss: Punch or die (scallop circle punch and circle punch for the flower in corner)
Paper Cutz: Anything Goes

The Pixie Cottage Challenge #79

Good Morning,

Welcome to The Pixie Cottage's Fun With Food challenge. To get you started we have sketch #79 for you to work with. You can chose to stick with the theme, or the sketch, but feel free to combine both as I have.

I had to use my Pixie Cottage Pepe the Penguin for this card because he was just perfect for the theme.  Did you know that Michelle's Scrapbooking and More has all the Pixie Cottage stamps on sale!  She has lowered their price by 20%.

I had originally thought to use chipboard for the arrow, but I found the adorable "Let's do Lunch" sentiment and it changed my layout.  So I took one of my black arrow brads, dipped it in glue and red embossing powder, and used that on the right hand side.  I think I will send this card out to one of my girly girls, and hopefully she will take me up on the offer to do lunch.

Well I hope you have fun with this challenge,
Happy Krafting ladies,
Hugs,
Tanya

The Pixie Cottage Challenge #78

Good Morning,

Welcome to The Pixie Cottage's Challenge #78. The wonderful sketch is to get you started, however, if sketches are not your thing, you can always follow along with this weeks "Wrap it with Ribbon" theme. As long as you use one or the other, you qualify to enter, and thus win. Won't you play with the Pixie's?

I used Hannah with Butterflies, a Pixie Cottage stamp available to purchase at Michelle's Scrapbooking and More, or Heather's Stamping Haven in Ottawa. I must have been a bit tired, because if you look on the Pixie Cottage Blog, I forgot to put the sentiment in the bottom corner.  But I have uploaded a new picture here with the "For You" sentiment.  I also followed along with the theme, and wrapped the left side with lace ribbon.  Adding acrylic butterflies that I stamped with white Staz On.

Let me know what you think ladies, I just love hearing from you.  Have a great day, and I hope you decide to play along.

Hugs,
Tanya

Pixie Cottage Challenge #76

Good Morning,

Are you ready for another Pixie Cottage Challenge? We have a wonderful "Strawberries and Cream" theme, as well as fun sketch #76 for you to choose from. Remember, you can chose to use the theme and/or the sketch. For the summer session we will be randomly choosing 1 lucky winner, and that person will be able to choose 2 Pixie Cottage Stamps of their choice.Won't you come and play with The Pixies?

I just LOVE the theme this week. My choice of October Afternoon Strawberry papers made the theme come together very easily.  I chose to use South End Girls #2 again because she is just so darling.  I then went about coloring my image, only to finish off my card with an enameled strawberry broach!

Michelle's Scrapbooking and More carries the wonderful Prima Flowers on my card that were chosen to match my DP, she also carries the stamp.  Currently Michelle has started up a Monthly Copic Club. You will receive 3 new Copic Markers a month, for $15.75 including shipping.  This is perfect for the beginner Copic collector.  Should you be interested sure click on the link above to find out more.

The Pixie Cottage Challenge #71

Good Morning,

Here I am again with my sample for The Pixie Cottage Challenge #71. The Theme this week is "Here Comes the Sun" and we have a fabulous sketch for you too. Remember, you can chose to tackle both, or take on the theme or the sketch separately.  You can also play along using your own stamps if you do not have any Pixie Cottage stamps, but you have to use the theme and/or the sketch with your creation.

I chose Hannah on Swing found at Michelle's Scrapbooking and More, because swinging in the sunshine is such a fabulous thing to do.  I chose orange as my colors because it reminds me of a nice sunny day. To top it off, the sun charm and the wet embossed sunshine rays behind the tree.  Have I dosed you all with enough Vitamin C yet?

I can't wait to see your inspiring entries,

PWCO Sunday Sketch 72- My card for Haeli

Hello ladies,

This is my newest stamp from Paperworks Co. - Wool Ewe.  I find this guy adorable and he always makes me smile, so I thought it would be perfect to send to Haeli.  Please read my post HERE if you have a card to send out to this 12 year old girl battling Ovarian Cancer.

I took PWCO sketch from this weeks Challenge #72 in order to get my Mojo going.  I am pretty tired after a superb weekend spent with my two little girls.  A fun pizza/cupcake party followed by lots of giggles and the movie Despicable Me. I loved hearing both my girls giggling away and playing with their friends.  It got me out of my head and into my heart, and I soon found myself smiling along with them.  I am also pretty tired from shoveling all that snow!  My DH was out of town, and before it solidified into ice, I had to shovel it.  My goodness what a workout, but I did need one since I missed Yoga this weekend.

Just an added note about this stamp.  It inks up super well, and I am really impressed with the quality especially with the fine lines.  Two thumbs up from me!

Have a great day ladies,

Hugs
Tanya

The Pixie Cottage Challenge #57

 Good Morning,

Once Upon a Wednesday over at The Pixie Cottage is now on it's 57 challenge.  This weeks theme is embossing, and the sketch  is a Pixie original.  You can choose to use the sketch, the theme, or you can challenge yourself and use both!

I chose this wonderful Robin's  Nest stamp by ArTish.  It is one of the Pixie Cottage stamps available at Michelle's Scrapbooking and More.

For my creation, I started with the paper, working the layers into the sketch provided. Deciding on ribbon tape in the center meant using distress ink to match it with the colors of the paper.  I then chose my stamp.  I took my prisma pencils and colored the image in, only to go over it with an embossing pen.  I quickly added the embossing powder, heated it up, and voila!  You can see in the picture that the leaves and the nest are shiny, thus the addition on the theme was incorporated.

I tried to let intuition work it's magic, and I am always surprised with the outcome.  I managed to create something different this week, and while doing so, I actually used several things in my stash that have been sitting there, gathering dust.

Happy Krafting ladies,  I am looking forward to seeing your take on this challenge.

Hugs
Tanya

Tuesday Takes Challenge @ Sketches In Thyme

Good Morning,

Welcome to another Tuesday Takes Challenge @ Sketches In Thyme. This week we are using a fabulous sketch from Mojo Monday.   When I first started crafting, I went to their site and used numerous sketches to get my Mojo going, it worked like a charm this time too.

I got this lovely Elisabeth Bell stamp from Susana's Custom Art and Card Design .   Elisabeth Bell always draws the cutest little girls and boys, and when I saw this one, I just had to have her because she looks like my eldest daughter, who just happens to love horses too.  I hope you all decide to peruse Susana's store,  she has many different stamps, some of which are exclusive to her store, such as the one above.

As for technique, I simply gathered my design paper, put it together, decided to use kraft paper for my image, and finished it off with some matching embellishments.  When using kraft paper for my stamped images, I always use my Prisma Colored Pencils along with my gamsol blending mineral spirits.  If you are looking for kraft paper for your collection, be sure to try The Kraft Outlet,  they have sample packs too, and quite the assortment.

I certainly hope you decide to play along, February's Prize is a Glimmer Mist Pack!

Happy Krafting, good luck, and most of all, HAVE FUN!
Hugs,
Tanya

Just for fun

Good Evening,

I had a little time to play, just for fun, and the above is what I came up with. Three people inspired me this week. 1. Sunghee sent me an adorable calendar made with a similar shape. 2. Cindy Hafner made this wild card shape that had me going WOW and thinking outside the box.  3.  The Kraft Journal, a new challenge site, posted their first kraft challenge and asked us to use flourishes.

If you look back to when I first started posting, you will see that I used these adorable stamps quite often.  I am pleased to have been able to get back to them this month.  Nothing like making something old "new" again!  Thanks ladies for inspiring me.

I have caught my daughters' colds, and hope to be over it soon, but for tonight, I am putting my feet up, eating some jalapeno chips (comfort food) and watching a movie with my husband.

Happy Krafting,
Hugs

Sketches In Thyme Challenge #12

Good Morning,

This weeks challenge #12 over at Sketches In Thyme is to use this wonderful layout by Helen Croft. Can you believe we are already into week 12!  How fast time flies.

The above pictures were taken on one of our first camping trips during the summer of 2007. Karlye was 2 1/2 years old. I have to say Karlye's personality has not changed, she is always smiling, singing and ready for any adventure when the sun is shining. I think these photos capture how happy she is, and I blessed to have her in my nest until it is her time to take flight.

I am so pleased that this sketch was chosen. I have had these tiny fences in my stash for over 7 years, and now they have a home. I am really enjoying October Afternoon paper too.

Hope to see you inspired to create, and be sure to post your entry. August's prize is still up for grabs.

Happy Krafting,
Hugs

The Pixie Cottage Challenge #32

Good Morning Ladies,

This weeks Pixie Cottage Challenge #32  theme is "Anything but a card".  I sat down and came up with the above post-it-note holder.  It even snaps shut with magnets that I added in between the red cardstock and the striped design paper. I got the idea from a dollar store notepad, and took to modifying the length to accommodate a 3x3 post-it-note pad. I am really enjoying taking things apart to see how they are made, then adding my own little twists and turns to make it "mine". I'm  thinking this would look pretty nifty  next to someone's phone, don't you?

This is one of  the new Summer 2010 Pixie Cottage stamps found at Michelle's Scrapbooking and More, entitled "To You From Us".  Be sure to drop in and browse the store, there are so many NEW and pretty things to be seen.

I am curious to see what you will come up with, be sure to enter it into this weeks challenge too!  If this weeks theme is not for you, please drop in anyways, there is a wonderful guest sketch for you to work with as well.

Happy Krafting,
Hugs,
Tanya
