WIPless Wednesday

Happy Wednesday Readers!  Its time for that weekly post of mine!  I am so enjoying WIP Wednesday!

 Happy Halloween
Silver Creek Samplers
Just Cross Stitch - 2013 Halloween Issue
Stitched on 28ct Burnt Papyrus by Sugar Maple Fabrics
Stitched with DMC, Weeks Dye Works, and Gentle Art Sampler Threads

I don't have an actual recent WIP picture for you today, but I do have a Happy Dance!  I finished last week's WIP shortly after 11PM last night.  Once again this isn't my usual "stitching style" but WIP pictures of this piece kept popping up on my feed on Instagram (follow me @tkd_chick) and I was loving watching a couple of ladies stitch it up.  So being the nosy stitcher I am, I asked what design it was and how I could get my hands on it.  I was told it was from the 2013 Just Cross Stitch Halloween Issue.  Well, of course I had it in my stash!  I just love the piece of fabric I used, its been in my stash for many years and its such a shame the company isn't in business anymore I'd love to get my hands on more!  I suppose I should do the finishing on this sooner rather than later?

Since I don't have a new WIP for you, how about an old one?  This piece is on my mind, its a cross stitch adaptation of the painting "The Accolade".  The chart was a gift from my friend Beth who I met through stitching and I've been working on it for quite a few years now.  I'll be picking this back up real soon!

Now, how about I share another ornament I did the finishing on back in the summer!  This pair are from a chart by Midnight Stitching called Heartstruck Quakers.  Aren't these guys adorable?  I have to say I found the heart-shaped ornaments a challenge, but I'm very happy with how this cute little duo turned out!

Another Crazy... Finished

The last few days in my new stitching rotation have been my "smalls" rotation.  I've decided this rotation won't be as long as my other 4-day rotations.  I think I only need to work on my smalls for about 2 days.  However I will allow for up to four days for that rotation if I've got a more complicated small.

So during this rotation I had two more finishes, one I shared with you during my WIPocalypse post and the other one I finished off last night.  These were cute little guys to stitch up, Jo kindly sent me the chart after she stitched them.

In the spirit that Jo sent them to me, I am now going to send on these cute little snowmen!  Please leave a comment if you'd like to be entered in this giveaway.  I'll randomly draw a winner next Tuesday, February 5th.

Crazy Challenge Day 14

OMG, OMG, OMG!  I'm almost there I've almost made it!  Monday ushered in the second to last day of the Crazy Challenge for 2013.

Since I already had Heartstruck Quakers out and fabric selected I went ahead and made a start on the red heart.  I didn't get as much done as I would of liked, but I had a great coffee date with my friend Amy.  That was worth skipping out on a little stitching time.

Crazy Challenge Day 13 Start

I celebrated the 13th day of the Crazy January Challenge going through my stash and starting my 13th project!  I think this time I picked something a little smaller than my biggest start and a smaller ornament and so cute!

This is another chart that was passed onto me by anther kind blogger, Jo in the UK!  I've got to start keeping notes with these things when I put them in my stash so I can share with you what kind soul passed it onto me.

On Sunday I started the blue heart.

Merry Christmas!

I'd like to wish all my family, friends and blogging friends a very Merry Christmas! I hope the day is full of happiness and joy.

Today has been a loooong day! Todd and I were up early with the birds, as I had a little last minute shopping to do and I wanted to get to the store not long after it opened (7am). I was able to get my last bits of food, gifts, and stocking stuffers.

It was while we were shopping I noticed... the horror! The strap on my $10 Wal-Mart purse had broken! Argh I loved that purse!!! I took a quick look in the store (aka Wal-Mart) but nothing caught my fancy and there was nothing comparable. I told Todd he could take me to Danier Leather on Boxing Day and get me a nice leather purse, LOL!

From there we went out for breakfast at our favourite place, this is tradition we started last year. Its a nice way to start the day since we celebrate the season with my side of the family on Christmas Eve. We came home to unpack, clean the house, make lasagna, and relax before everyone showed up for dinner. I got the best gift ever from my baby brother, a proper flash to go with my Cannon Rebel! Yay, now I can take great pictures in dim or big rooms. The pop-up flash on my camera just wouldn't do the trick.

At 11:59 pm I celebrated a Christmas Eve Happy Dance! (photo taken with snazzy new flash, after midnight, what a great job it did!)

Stitched on : 14ct Aida
Stitched with : Anchor cotton

As usual I just adore Michael Powell's they're so fun and colourful!
The other day I finished up yet another ornament to add into a gift basket for my TKD instructor.
I hope everyone has a great Christmas Day, we'll be celebrating with Todd's family.

Second Ornament Happy Dance

Seeing as the end of February is almost upon me I decided yesterday afternoon I should get a move on with my second ornament for the month (I'm really going to try stitch two a month this year I felt like I was scrambling to get enough done near the end of 2008). So I pulled out a freebie, some fabric and floss and got started. Once again a fairly quick stitch (seems to be my theme so far this year) and I finished it this afternoon.

Snowman's Quaker Christmas
Freebie
c2008 Midnight Stitching
Stitched on : 32ct Lambswool Linen
Stitched with : DMC & DMC colour variations

The Quaker design around the snowman was supposed to be in a shade of green, making it look more like leaves and berries, but I wanted something a little bolder. So I picked a beautiful shade of blue (guess what colour I like?) from my DMC colour variations, 4025. I'm now thinking when I get around to stitching Circles des Cirques that I might use this colour.

I'm not sure now if to pull Paradigm Lost back out or work a little bit on that mystery project. The sooner I get that done the sooner I can finish my projects!
