Crimbo Crackers Challenge 167 - Anything Goes

Welcome to a new Crimbo Crackers challenge!  The theme for the fortnight is

Anything Goes

I've made a Christmas Tree using a box template I found on google and then cut out all the little tags (backed them onto off cuts of kraft card first) from the Holly Jolly 6x6 paper pack.  I wrapped some bakers twine around the tree first so I could then add the pegs to make it look like they were clipped to it.  When actually I've used foam pads underneath the numbers to stick them to the tree - was just a lot easier!

Something a bit different and quirky!  Good luck with the challenge!  I'd like to enter the following:

Polkadoodle Tutorial - Flower Pegs!

We've started a new feature over on Polkadoodles and the Design Team will be sharing some tutorials just before the challenge post goes live each Friday.  I'm starting the ball rolling with a rather simple but pretty way of using pegs!

You will need the following:

Sugar Birdies cd
6 wooden pegs
Glue
Scissors
1 A4 sheet of thin white card
1 A4 sheet of clear vellum

From the Sugar Birdies cd, print off one of the flower sheets so that you get 4 sets on a sheet of A4 card.  Do the same with a sheet of clear vellum.  Put the card back through your printer and print a contrasting block colour on the reverse.

Cut out one set of the card flowers (6) and two sets of the vellum flowers (12)

Next, layer up the card and vellum flowers - keep the vellum layers at the top

Gently curl the petals to give them some dimension

And then glue to the pegs - make sure you don't glue the bit where the spring goes!

You could add a button to the centre and thread some twine through - I was lazy and couldn't find any black buttons!

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

Crafting For All Seasons:  No Stamps Allowed
Hambo Hoedown:  Anything But A Card

Engagement Again

This is the second Engagement card I've made this weekend as one of my cousins got Engaged last week. This is also for the Incy Wincy challenge which asks:

Faux It Up!

Although you can just about see it if you look close enough, I've added a faux running stitch with a black fineliner around the edge of the card and also the punched out heart.

The stamped heart uses a stamp that I got ages ago as a freebie in a magazine. The two little birdies have been stamped using two Hugs and Honey stamp sets (I bought a bargain pack in The Range on Friday with 3 of the acrylic stamp sets in, 2 different sized paper packs, die cuts and stickers all for just under £10!)

The items on the 'washing line' have been inked around the edges and the birdie one I've added tiny silver gel pen dots around the edge too. The embroidery thread is from my stash.

This was a really quick card to make and I think I may make more to add to my box as its good for any type of Wedding, Engagement or Valentines Day occasion!

Pretty Pegs!

The Charisma Cardz challenge this week is:

Buttons!

How could I resist?! I'd already made these flower pegs for Nikky to take with her as samples when she launched Sugar Birdies on Ideal World on Wednesday - if you watched it, you would have seen these displayed on a clear box, and Nigel the presenter quite liked them! But as I've not previously blogged them, I decided to enter them for this challenge!

I've printed various flowers from the cd onto card and also vellum - the vellum flowers have been curled slightly and overlaid onto the card flowers and I've added a matching button to each centre with jute string tied through the holes. Which is in keeping with the wooden peg feel!

I discovered the wooden pegs when I was looking for something else, and its funny how inspiration suddenly hits you!

On some of the flowers I've added a bit of extra doodling - either dots or a solid line in black ink or white gel pen.

And because I've sent all these to Nikky, I think I may have to make some for myself! Obviously would need more buttons too....!
