Spring is on the way!

BY SKEETER
I am so happy to see signs of Spring here in my GEORGIA GARDENS!
Hyacinth are peeking out their heads.
Tulips are popping through the Phlox.
 Forsythia are blooming.
Daffodils are starting to bloom which really cheer me up after a nasty winter.
My little sunny delights!
The Robins are starting to gather into small flocks. Yep, these are sure signs that SPRING IS ON THE WAY, In the Garden...

Biltmore: Azalea, Tulip, Redbud and Wisteria

BY SKEETER
A year ago, the Saint and I discovered beautiful Biltmore House and Gardens during the Garden Blogger, Asheville Spring Fling 2012. This past weekend, the Saint and I went back for another visit. This visit was compliments of Del Holston of Explore Asheville. I won the Bloggers contest thus, our return visit this year! Again, Thanks Del for hosting this contest at the Fling!
Last year was a very early spring in Asheville and this trip was very different in the gardens of Biltmore.
When booking Spring visits to gardens, one never knows what will be happening too far in advance. Mother Nature is always keeping us on our toes.
The Saint left the booking up to me and I picked the last weekend of April in hopes of seeing azaleas and tulips. Little did we know at the time the weather would not be too kind for our entire trip. More on that later, on this day, it was glorious!
We drove to the Azalea Garden area, parked our car and enjoyed a Pimento Cheese Sandwich and chips atop the gardens.
Our stroll through the Azalea Gardens was such a treat.
We had never seen Redbud trees this full of blooms. We do not see many Redbuds in our area here in my GEORGIA GARDENS.
Although, this year we seem to notice more then in years past. I assume they had a good year here in GA.
Azalea's were bursting with color throughout the gardens!
We headed up to the Formal Gardens where we were shocked to find Tulips still hanging around for our visit! The tulips above were my favorite. Do not ask me what they are named as I was only here to admire them.
Double Tulip's were a treat as I have never seen them before.
The Tulips were on their last few days of putting on a show but beautiful none the less.
Red, Pink and Purple is not a color combination I would think of but I loved it!
Flingers will recall sipping Champagne in this spot last May. This photo does not give the Flower Combination here justice. The blooms ran down both sides of the arbor from front to back! It was stunning.
With the sun shining bright on this day, the Yellow Tulips were glowing!
The Sea of Tulips went on and on.
I like the shape of this planter.
April is the month for 1000's of Tulips to shine!
The Arbor taking one from the house into the gardens, had blooming Wisteria. It was not as full as I had expected but pretty just the same.
The Purple Color did not stand out as I expected but the bees seem to enjoy it.
Wisteria reminds me of grape clusters.
When I see Wisteria covered Arbors, I desire to have one in my gardens.
But such vines must be maintained and at times cut way back such as this area in the middle of the arbor. Maybe this empty spot was the reasoning behind my disappointment of the Wisteria Arbor.
The Arbor was pretty, it just did not pop like I thought it would with the sun shining upon the purple petals. Plus, the petals were not all opened just yet.
The Arbor by the House was bare at this time. The Trumpet Vine will be blooming in time though.
The size of the vine keeps me captivated.
We headed back down into the gardens and caught views that stopped us in our tracks.
I remember the view being much different a year ago when standing in this spot.
We worked our way back down the hill taking in all the colors.
I have some of the same azaleas in my gardens but none are as spectacular as these large beauties.
The colors just glowed with the sun hitting them. Notice how some have yet to bloom.
 Pink and Purple, so pretty.
The Saint and I spent about 5 hours strolling around the grounds never making it inside the house! We toured the house last year and we did not want to spend time inside with such a beautiful day filled with AZALEA, TULIP, REDBUD AND WISTERIAIn the Garden....

Stay Tuned for more of Biltmore's Spring Gardens, Christopher's Mountain top, North Lodge B&B and a meet up with some Garden Bloggers amongst other fun things...

Tulips and the Winners!

 BY SKEETER
I have Tulips in my GEORGIA GARDENS! Tina talked about tulips yesterday so you have learned that tulips will return in time, after a little vacation. I have purple tulips that keep returning for me year after year since planting them back in 2009. I planted many tulips that year but the Voles ate all but these which were in a different planter then the Vole's meal of tulips.
Lets go in for a closer look shall we... Ah, look at all that pollen on this tulip.
Not as much pollen in this tulip but still putting off the yellow dust.
Don't ya just love the Macro settings on a camera? I do...
And a bonus photo of a Columbine bloom in the same planter as the tulips.
Now, the moment you have been waiting for....
Out came The Saint's Magic German Hat and placed within, were all the names of the commenters of my Blogiversary Giveaway Posting.

I sat the Magic Hat on a chair for a Photo Op and my little Fur-baby, Cheetah jumped upon the chair with the hat. Yesterdays Fur Cut did not turn out so well. That happens when you clip cats as they are wiggle worms with sharp claws!
I could not believe it but Cheetah decided she was going to pick out the names of the winners! Yes, it was a cute sight that I was able to capture with a photo!
The first name out, FLOWERLADY! The second name out of the Magic Hat, REBECCA! I found this ironic as these ladies were the first and second commenters of the post! And I DID mix the names WELL, within the hat.
Congrats to Flowerlady and Rebecca for your wins. I shall get your gifts in the mail as soon as possible...
I hope you enjoy these little frogs, In the Garden...

Tulips part 2 and Blogiversary

By Skeeter Recently, I told you about a mystery in my Georgia Garden. The title was "Where are my Bulbs." Click on the title to refresh the memory or check it out as this is a follow-up to that mystery. Do you see what I see in the above picture?
Zooming in, we see a round hole in the planter! Yep, Mr. Vole has been busy in my planter.
This is all that remains of the 25 or so Tulips and Gladiola bulbs planted last year! Mr./Mrs Vole was busy keeping the belly full on my bulbs this winter. Little toot! I also found my Amaryllis bulb. As you can see, I had planted it too deep in the soil. It was still trying to make an appearance for me. I have since put her in a pot and she is showing me a green stem. I don't know if she will bloom or not. Only time will tell on that one...Now back to the Chimney Planter which is full of Spring plants returning from last year. I added some cheaply purchased hyacinth, candytuft and phlox for a fuller Spring bouquet. Do you see purple in the front of this planter? After the comments from everyone on the other post, I was not expecting any tulips in this planter. But low and behold, every one of the tulips have bloomed in this planter!
They are bright purple and look to be very healthy. I was so shocked to see them come up and bloom after the disaster in the other planter. I am so happy with this Spring Planter but I am thinking ahead. Soon the Daffy's and tulips will fade along with the phlox blooms. I have added 3 coral bells taken from a soggy situation and put them in this planter along with 2 different colored potato plants. The purple queen is starting to pop up as well. If I have done right, this planter will be full as the spring plants fade away.
I am so happy with the Candy Striped phlox and it seems to be just as happy! Voles got one batch of bulbs but I have TULIPS, In the Garden....

Today is my Blogiversary Day! 2 years of chatting with some wonderful folks around the world! Tina, thank you so much for having me be a part of In the Garden. You are a jewel girl...

Click HERE to see what blogging means to me from my 1 year Blogiversary.

I would like to have a Give-away in honor of my Anniversary but I am currently out of network. The Saint and I made a quick decision to go to Washington DC to view the Cherry Blossoms around the Tidal Basin! It has been probably 20 years since we have seen them and after our Macon Cherry Blossom trip, I was dying to see them once again. So I had to rush to get this post ready for Tuesday. I will find something I think you gardeners will enjoy as an addition to your gardens while on this trip. Hopefully I will have the contest up and ready on Thursday. So stay tuned and thank you all for the wonderful Garden Talk over the past 2 years! I have learned so much from each and every one of you!

I will chat with you once I get back in my Georgia Garden!!!
