Watch this introductory video!

See how to use the new Spellbinders M-Bossabilities in this video!

For my first project, I created an altered trinket box. The box itself is a plain wooden box easily found at any craft store. It was very simple to create this… here’s what I did.
Paint the box with a generous coat of crackle paint. Feel free to paint inside and the bottom if desired. I left the center of the top unpainted, as it will be covered by paper. While it dries, continue on with the next steps.

Trim a patterned paper just slightly smaller than the size of the box top. Sand edges of paper. Set aside.
Using E8-013 Classic Decorative Inserts Five and E8-003 Classic Triple Scallop Edge, create a 12” long strip. Tape the 2 die templates together, then tape to the strip of paper using a low tack tape. Cut and emboss using Spellbinders Grand Calibur® Machine. Remove die templates and reposition to finish cutting the 12” strip. I like to overlap the last portion of the cut design with the die templates to ensure everything remains in the proper position.
Repeat, so you have 2 12” strips to work with.
Create a decorative strip by adhering the edges of the strips just cut under the edges of a strip of striped pattern paper. Ink all edges if desired before adhering.
Adhere patterned paper to box top. Adhere decorative strip using Scor Pal’s Scor Tape for a strong hold. Trim ends once they have met the bottom of the box lid. Sand for smoothness.
Next, add a black flourish from Want2Scrap. Ends will be longer than the box, so just continue to wrap them around the box.

Now we get into some die cutting fun!!

Using cream colored cardstock, cut out S4-353 Labels Twenty Four die template #4 (with #1 being the smallest). No need to emboss, as we are now going to set this piece in our ES-001 Simplicity M-Bossabilities folder using side B. Emboss using the A-Base Plate and the raspberry D-Adaptor Plate, with the M-Bossabilities folder in between. Once embossed, lightly run a light colored ink across the embossed image. This helps to give a faux-letterpress look very easy! Set aside.
Using green paper, cut circle using S4-114 Standard Circles LG #5 (#1 is the smallest). Emboss using the same technique discussed above… using plates A and D with the M-Bossabilities folder between. Sand lightly, then ink. Add circle of black Nestabling from Want2Scrap. Set aside.
Next, I chose a different paper to add a bit if a delicate touch. Donna Salazar’s Antiquities linefrom GCD Studios worked perfectly! Place plain dress form from S5-068 Decorative Dress Forms over journaling block containing the floral pattern on the bottom left. Use low tack tape to hold in place. Trim with scissors. Cut and emboss. Lightly outline the form using black ink from Clear Snap. Add 3 pearls from Want 2 Scrap. I chose baby bling… in LeCreme. To finish off the dress form, I tied the waist with a small piece of green tulle.

Now we get to put it all together!!
Using Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L foam squares, adhere the die cut pieces to the center of the decorated trinket box. Labels Twenty Four on the bottom, circle next, with the dress form on top.
To finish off, add a thin strip of stripped pattern around the perimeter of the box. I inked the edges first, and adhered it using Scor Tape.

Now you are finished!!

I’m thrilled to share two projects using the LF-008 Hexagon Pinwheel Top Box and S4-338 Holiday Tags with you...

The LF-008 Hexagon Pinwheel Top Box die template can be used for so many different occasions! First, I am going to show you how to use it to create a Christmas tree ornament with an extra little surprise inside!

*Cut/emboss LF-008 Hexagon Pinwheel Top Box in the Grand Calibur Machine out of ivory cardstock. Ink edges and set aside.

*Cut/emboss LF-008 Hexagon Pinwheel Top Box out of red patterned paper, adding the Layers as shown in the photo. They will be used to cut out windows in the box. Ink edges.

*Layer the 2 boxes with the ivory one on the top. Fold all arms in on the embossed lines. Open and adhere base together, leaving the “arms” free.

*Cut/emboss S5-041 Floral Doily Motifs doily #3 (with #1 being the smallest) onto red patterned paper. Ink edges. Adhere to inside of the box onto the ivory cardstock. Add cardstock stickers with the year.

*Cut/emboss S5-041 Floral Doily Motifs doily #4 twice from ivory cardstock. Lightly ink edges. Adhere together. Set aside.

*Punch hole and add eyelet to one of the arms. Insert twine and tie.

*To close your box, begin by folding one arm in towards the center. Moving counter-clockwise, fold in the next arm, tucking it UNDER the previous arm. Tuck petal under and around previous petal. Continue around until all arms and petals are tucked. The top will be a beautiful pinwheel!

*Adhere Doily to the bottom of the box.

*Your Hexagon Petal Top Box is complete! I like to curl the edges of the outer petals just a bit to help give an extra bit of definition as well!

*Now for the surprise inside!
*A photo banner/minibook!

*Print photos 3x4”. Layer with ivory cardstock. Cut out both together using S4-114 Standard Circles LG #4. You do not have to emboss these. I then sanded the edges of the photo using a sanding block. Adhere photo to cardstock circle. Repeat for all photo’s. (Note: I used 5 photo’s. If you use any more than that they will not fit inside of the box.)

*Punch small hole on left and right side, as well as on the bottom of each photo circle. Insert jump ring into each hole.

*Using your printer, print name and age of each person in photo. Cut/emboss using small Rounded, 6 Pointed and Notched ornaments from the S4-338 Holiday Tags die templates. Ink edges. Set aside.

*Cut (do not emboss) Best Creation red glitter cardstock using LG 6 Pointed, Rounded and Notched ornaments from the S4-338 Holiday Tags die templates (ending up with with one ornament die for each photo). Adhere name tags that you just cut. Add red bling from Want2Scrap. Insert jump ring into hole. Join with bottom jump ring on each photo.

*Join all photo's together using the jump rings.

If you are interested in knowing how to make your own jump rings, or how to work with jump rings, just leave me a note in the comments section and I’ll be glad to do a short video/ tutorial for you on that! They are super simple!

*To finish off, add a charm to the first and last photo. Fold up your little banner and sit inside of hexagon petal topped box. Close box as explained above.

Hang and enjoy!!
