Birthday Beauty!

I finished my sister's iPad case for her birthday! Of course her birthday is today,... and she lives 4 hours away,... and I haven't sent it yet... but I'm done! And I think it turned out pretty cute, if I do say so myself! I used a basic tutorial from FreckledWhimsy as a jumping off point but I changed a lot.

The geese include some Artful Home by Helen Mulder Peterson, Dogwood Trails by Moda, Innocent Crush by Anna Marie Horner, and some other scraps. Because the outside only had mild hits of color, I decided to go bold for the strap and liner so I used some Riley Blake.

Since I don't have an iPad to check the size, I compared the dimensions online to those of my Nook. The length of my Nook is almost the same as the width of the iPad so it worked fine. I hope my little younger sis (she's a good 6 inches taller than me) likes it as much as I do. I'm going to have to convince myself to send it!

Wazzup! WiP Wednesday!

Well, not a whole lot of progress this week but I did get a few things done and a few things started.
One more Granny Square down on the baby quilt. That's 17 so far but I have to get this done. Baby is due in a few weeks.
Pay no attention to the color scheme. This is a scrap quilt.
I also made a toiletry bag for a friend who was diagnosed with breast cancer and is about to have surgery.

I got started on an iPad case for my sister. Instead of going totally one fabric, I decided to do a quilt block style. I've gotten as far as getting the iron on fleece attached. Gotta go pick up a zipper...

I decided since the outside was sort of basic, I'm going to line it in red for a pop.  I also started cutting up some more scraps. Even with using them for the iPad bag and the baby quilt, they've sort of started getting out of hand and I needed to make more of a dent in them. So I decided on a scrap quilt in a picnic blanket style and I'm using this pattern with a slight modification. Nanette used 2.5" and 4.5" blocks for hers but my scraps are a bit smaller so I'm using 2" and 3.5" blocks. Right now I'm just cutting. Hopefully this will get smaller soon.
Don't let it fool you. The bottom is kind of packed down. I also decided to weed out anything that is really smaller than I would probably use. There's a lady in my quilt guild who takes scraps to another lady in another guild SHE attends. This OTHER lady is called the 'ugly quilt' lady because she takes scraps of everything and anything to make quilts for the homeless. I try to give anything I have extra including batting to her.
Hope your week has been a bit more productive than mine. Linking up...
