I would never usually say this, but I hope that it rains so I can use my new umbrella from Citta Designs latest collection, Tokyo. Collision of Contrasts.
P.s: check out their full collection online within the next day or two.
We've had a mild winter so far & our poor ski fields are suffering from lack of snow! This means our snowboards are more than likely staying tucked away this winter... or you could send them to Nathan Seccombe & see if he can put them to use for you :)
The most exciting part to this little discovery is the fact that you can download the font right here - who would have imagined?! Im going to do it now...
'A few years ago we worked with Esther Diamond & during that time we developed a typeface sampled from some of the letter forms from Martin Poppelwell's hand writing. It's been sitting in the dark corners of my drive so I thought I would share it with you all. There are some hidden goodies inside the font so tae a look around the keyboard, im sure you'll find them.'
I love what Sarah Maxey does with type - isnt it amazing?
My younger brother has asked me to design a tattoo for him in a cool font. Maybe I should ask Sarah to do it for him - she would do a much better job than me!!
An email just landed in my inbox telling me that papercup have re-printed their fabulous bird tees - yay!! Sketchy bird & pocket protecter are available to buy at endemic world. I own the sketchy bird tee, which I love, & am seriously considering buying the second one - its so cool!
Im always popping across to Studio Home Creative to check out Julias finds. She always features new & interesting artists & designers from around NZ & Australia, & her blog is a constant source of inspiration.
I was searching her posts the other day, on a serious mission to find some photos Im sure exist... somewhere... Anyhow! I came across the pics she posted of the interiors she's designed & they are sweet! Sometimes I wish I was lucky enough to have a job like hers.
Ive been told I need to post more of the accessories I design. So to start the ball rolling here are my latest cushions.
The inspiration for this range came from a piece of vintage fabric I found at Salvage& gave a modern twist through use of colour & combinations of textures & textiles.
The cushions are about to hit the shops, so fingers crossed!
I look at this &, strangely, think skateboard ramp/hut my little brother built using dads building scraps; yet at the same time I love the boxiness, & in a way ugliness, of the seat. Its actually quite beautiful!
I guess thats what furniture design is about - appealing to peoples senses in its own unique way.
This Intersection Armchair is by NZ furniture designer David Moreland. Other favourites of mine are
cut out windows with scissors, fabric dyed with red wine
windows filled with twink. dyed fabric.
paint the town red! stitched red thread
make me sparkle sequin
I can't resist this townscape by Wellytown artist Miriam Silvester & the products & interaction/inspiration that is encouraged, & has come from, this simple line drawing as seen above.
"Wellytown is about Wellington & all the choice stuff that happens here. It's about our lil city that we as Wellingtonians, Welly-wannabes & Welly-appreciators are excited to be part of!
Now available in a range of t-shirts which also pioneer the concept of clothing you cant ruin. This literally invites you to alter, repair & personalise garments without restriction & is a novel way to give clothes you love a fresh lease on life!"
I bought this little clutch at the Sabensale (which finishes today) - I fell in love with it straight away and just had to get it. The photo is a little bad, but the colours are beautiful - gold, cream, dusty pink & red ochre...its not often that I splash out on a bag, but this was well worth it.
Heres the addy if you have time to pop down this arvo -
52a Parau St (its in the small block of shops on the corner of Fearon Ave)
After this post you may be a little tea toweled out - sorry but I couldn't resist sharing this great retro-styled find.
Commissioned specially for Pauanesia, these fun designs celebrates NZs wonderful native fauna, bird life, coast lines & special places - perhaps a great christmas pressie to send to the rellies overseas?
