Pattern Intimidation!

Is it just me or do you all have one of those patterns that you find intimidating??
I bought this cute little Izzy and Ivy pattern sometime ago.....Isn't that hat just adorable?

Anyway, since I wasn't doing anything with it I gave it to my friend Paula who wasn't the big scaredy-cat that I was..... this is what she came up with (and I think this is only a sample of the ones she has made):
Aren't they gorgeous?? I can just see Paula's Miss 4 looking lovely in these....... So now, as you could imagine... I think I may have to get over my intimidation and acutally make one myself!

I'd love to hear what crafty thing you find intimidating!

Until next time........

Choc Caramel Slice

.... as promised
I got this recipe off my friend Paula who makes the most scrumptious goodies ever.... then realised I'd had the recipe all along in one of my many cookbooks, the only difference was that Paula had increased the amount of butter used in the base so that it wasn't as crumbly.... and since I was privvy to that little detail, mine turned out perfect first time! Thanks Paula!

Ingredients:
125g crushed plain biscuits
100g melted butter (not 80g as it says in the book)
2Tbsp dessicated coconut
1 Tin condensed milk
125g butter
1/3 cup caster sugar
1/3 cup golden syrup
1x block plain chocolate
1Tbsp Vegetable oil

  • Grease and line a 30x20cm slice tin.

  • Combine biscuits, coconut and melted butter and press into tin firmly. Refridgerate while making the caramel.

  • Conbine condensed milk, butter, caster sugar and syrup in a small pan and cook over low heat for 15 mins stirring constantly. Allow to cool slightly then pour over biscuit base.

  • Melt chocolate and oil in a heat proof bowl over simmering water and pour over caramel.

  • Refridgerate until almost set and then cut into pieces.

Enjoy!

Some people think we're Mad!

I was lucky enough to be invited to join a friend (Paula) for a day of sewing yesterday, so we set to work at 9am...... and only stopped for Morning Tea, Lunch, Afternoon Tea, Dinner and Dessert...... Hmmm, maybe this is why it took so long to complete our project. Paula certainly looked after me!

The plan was to Complete "Faerie Noelle", a gorgeous doll by Annie Smith of Country Keepsakes. Paula and I found the pattern back in August at our favourtie patchwork shop, The Home Patch on our way back from Sydney but hadn't been able to get together to make her until now.
After a mere 12 and a half hours sewing, this is what we had achieved:
As you can see, Paula's is almost finished but mine still had a long way to go!
Finally!
After a few more hours sewing today my Faerie is complete and i think you'll agree she was worth the effort.............Think i'll name her Ruby!

Until next time
