Spring is the best.  There are few things more uplifting than seeing the first daffodil after the snow or the first day you realize that you can wear short sleeves and sandals.  They're magical, those firsts, because they mean that the world's waking up.  But the thing about that is that sometimes waking up's hard to do.

Every spring, I drag my feet about giving myself a pedicure.  I put it off as long as I can, covering my unsightly toes in flats or cowboy boots on those rare days when I venture out to run errands.  Maybe you're thinking, come on, your feet can't be that bad.  But they are.  I've been wearing heels for more than twenty-five years, and all that abuse takes a toll.  That said, the thing that puts a stop to my procrastination is my annual dermatologist visit.  If I don't want to look at my untamed tootsies, then I certainly don't want my doc looking at them, because really, isn't her job hard enough?  So soon it'll be pumice and polish time, my cuticles camouflaged by a thick coat of crimson, a.k.a. Cherries in the Snow.  And once I'm done, I'll think not too bad, and wonder what all the fuss was about.

So thanks, Revlon, for taking the bummer -- if not the bunions -- out of summer.

I couldn't resist the Game of Thrones vibe going on in this pendant.  I loved the turquoise shade so much that I added coordinating crystals and a heart charm.  Also, in keeping with the gothic glam of some of these looks, I switched my lipstick from Revlon's Cherries in the Snow to its much darker cousin, Black Cherry:

If my (slightly smug?) expression is any indicator, then I'm happy with it.

Sunflowers and roses aren't really for fall, even if these golds and fuchsias are.  But then again, by most people's standards, it's not even fall anymore anyway -- it's Christmas!  Leave it to me to go all in on autumn just as everyone else is hauling out holly.  

Speaking of the holidays, the great shopping ban of (a very small portion) of 2022 has ended!  Blame it on the biggest shopping season of the year or on my having willpower as weak as flat root beer, but I made it a whole three months until I caved and bought the above LC Lauren Conrad dress, boots, and bag to wear for Thanksgiving.  Still, brief as it was, the exercise gave me a chance to style what I had in new ways and also to be a more sensible splurger (the words "sensible" and "splurger" being, of course, relative).  But best of all, my new outfit inspired me to make this Big Pink Bow Barrette Brooch, a variation on the necklaces I used to churn out years ago:

While I was thinking pink, I decided to try a new lipstick too, namely this Revlon ColorStay Matte Lite Crayon in Mile High.  Although I was hesitant to sub out my usual (also Revlon) Super Lustrous Creme Cherries in the Snow, I have to admit that this Barbie shade's a nice alternative.  Also, bonus of bonuses, it tastes a tiny bit like birthday cake frosting.

So here's to celebrating summer flowers all fall.  And to pushing off the poinsettias -- at least until January.
