I'm very much into contrasts.  You know, old jeans with stilettos, chocolate-covered potato chips, and ballgown BBQs.  (That last one's not a thing, but it sounds fun, doesn't it?)  Anyway, I heart how opposites make each other stand out.  So I decided to try it with my fit pics.  I wore heels by the husband's power tools, a dress by Charlotte's swing, and a bow in front of the shed.  My new Balance Gleam Necklace fit right in, its '90s-inspired yin yang a reminder that opposites are puzzle pieces of harmony.  Because this is where I live -- and this is how I look.

Or at least it is when I'm not in my robe, eating something I shouldn't.

Anchored by the color, not Ron.  Although I like to think that my corner of the interwebs is newsworthy.  And who doesn't love a Will Ferrell reference?  That said, burgundy's intriguing because it's red with a darker backstory.  Game for the challenge of this haunting hue, I mixed it with pastels for my fits.

Because sometimes even the darkest horse needs a My Little Pony palette.

When it comes to super-sized style, maxi dresses and excessive accessories make for a kitsch-tastic combo.  I'm talking about maximalism, the aesthetic that flouts the old-school edict of taking one thing off before leaving the house and instead adding five more.  I remember being excited when I found out that it was a thing.  Deep down, I'd always known it was okay to look like a try-hard Christmas tree.  So, it's with unabashed enthusiasm that I share these fits.  Stacking the flair is not only fun but functional because I like to have things to look at throughout the day.  It's why the idea of a uniform -- by which I mean anything from a school-issued skirt and blouse to a pants suit -- sends me into, to quote Anne of Green Gables, "the depths of despair."

That said, Anne, with her love of whimsy and pretty things, would've been a maximalist of the first order.

My Little Pony Express

Jeans: Vanilla Star, Target

Necklaces wrapped for a customer.

Tee: Target

Last week, I had to rush to the post office to ship an order.  It was kind of warm, but I hadn't shaved, so I scanned my jeans and tees for something to wear.  I rejected one after another (too boring, too tight, too wrinkled), until I got to my leopard jeans and My Little Pony tee.  It wasn't the first time I'd put them together, and I was excited to wear the combo again.  Turns out, I made the right choice; when I walked into the post office, I felt downright magical.

Just like Hasbro -- and whoever made this tee for nostalgic '80s babies like me -- intended.

That said, here are some other pink outfits I wore recently.  You won't find any My Little Ponies, but there are two kawaii-tastic unicorn rings from PinkBopp.

Because life's too short to dress like a grown-up!
