The Easter Edit

I had to put the bunnies even farther out of Charlotte's reach this year.  But it turns out I like them better here.

"The Easter Edit" sounds sophisticated, doesn't it?  Like I'm going to Monday morning-quarterback-recommend designer fits you could've worn or gourmet meals you could've prepared.  But if you're a regular, then you know that that's not what this is.  (Also, that I prefer polyester to silk and JELL-O to crème brûlée.)  That said, I admit that my pics are brightened and curated (I'm an artist, not an animal!).  But they're by no means perfect -- and neither was the holiday.  I had my outbursts and Charlotte had hers, and then I had mine again.  So, the usual.  Nevertheless, we (and by we I mean the whole family) laughed a lot too.  Which is fitting for the sitcom that's become my life -- and the part that I choose to remember.

So here's to Easter madness and memories.

And the Peeps that make them so sweet.

"Brink" might be pushing it, as I'll surely post something very un-Valentiney between now and February 14.  But I can't resist a rhyme, so here we are.

Appropriating Char Bar's shopping cart, corralling my bric-a-brac into a collage, and pretending that my closet's a parlor are all acts of love anyway.

Because love's always a little bit crazy -- and best expressed through an excess of trinkets.

I'm very much into contrasts.  You know, old jeans with stilettos, chocolate-covered potato chips, and ballgown BBQs.  (That last one's not a thing, but it sounds fun, doesn't it?)  Anyway, I heart how opposites make each other stand out.  So I decided to try it with my fit pics.  I wore heels by the husband's power tools, a dress by Charlotte's swing, and a bow in front of the shed.  My new Balance Gleam Necklace fit right in, its '90s-inspired yin yang a reminder that opposites are puzzle pieces of harmony.  Because this is where I live -- and this is how I look.

Or at least it is when I'm not in my robe, eating something I shouldn't.

It's late October, and you know what that means: time to scare up some spooky.  And I can't do that without the ruffled, violet top I've worn for the past two Halloweens.  Part fright night, part '90s, it puts the Poe in poet's blouse.  And it looks especially bold with red -- Red Hat Society colors notwithstanding.

Speaking of hats (and the heads that support them), I got into the spirit of things by making some skull necklaces.  Even the ghost one has a tiny skull dangling from the center if you dare to get too close.

That said, I'll be steering clear of the occult.

Unless it comes with candy.
