Years ago, I read a magazine article proclaiming pink to be the most versatile color.  According to the writer, the hue is simultaneously retro, tropical, and futuristic.  I loved that, easily picturing sweater sets, hibiscus blooms, and cyberpunk minis in the Day-Glo shade.  Because pink makes anything seem possible.  And when it's turned up to its full, look-at-me wattage, it's especially hard to resist.

So I thought of that when I wore these fits.  And it put a little spring in my step.  Well, except for when I strapped my wedges too tightly and suffered an excruciating commute.  Now I'm in pursuit of shoes that don't mangle my metatarsals.    

But that, ahem, misstep aside, it was was a feel-good fashion kind of day.

That's what it said on the tablecloths I bought for Charlotte's mermaid-themed first birthday party.  We celebrated last Saturday, and it was the first party that the husband and/or I had ever thrown.  So although it was only fifteen people, the prep was a little nerve-racking.  Still, in the end it all came together, and Char Bar had a (beach) ball.

Which is all a socially challenged parent can hope for.

Well, that and party décor that plays into a future fit and necklace.

All joking aside, I can't believe how much Charlotte's grown -- and how much I've grown with her.  My heart is full whenever I watch her feed herself or pull herself up or replace her own pacifier.  She's becoming her own little person, and I can't wait to see what she learns next. 

Because as someone wise once said, the party's just getting started.

It seems that I've entered my muumuu era slightly ahead of schedule.  But June is just around the corner, and so is this baby.  My docs tell me that I'll be induced as early as June 6 on account of my oldness.  They should have a definite date for me later this week.  It's all happening. 

Until then, I'm living the Whac-A-Mole life of completing one baby prep job only to have five pop up in its place.  That and the paperwork of pregnancy, i.e., making calls and filling out forms to continue my benefits.  But I still make time to read, craft, and blog to block out the impending assault on my body.      

Because it takes a village to raise a mom.  And that village is a self care retreat.
