We must be mad!

DS no 2, Tim (the baby) is back home for a few months while his and Megs (fiance) house is being built. This is what he landed home with the other day....meet Peanut! How do I get talked into these things????
Peanut is a 3yo French Bulldog, her breeding days are over so she is now a pet. She has a lovely quiet temperament so lucky for that! I did say however that she makes Tim's other dog Indigo (a blue english staffy) pretty!!!

A few more dancing dollies hexagons.

A few more candied hexagons.

I have been fiddling with some nine patch blocks I made as leader/enders quite a while ago. Lissa made a pink and four patch quilt which I love and it gave me an idea...auditioning!

Sylvester Says thank you!

To everyone that kindly replied with name suggestions. It's scarey sometimes but once again Lissa and I were on the same page, I had already been tossing Sylvester around when she suggested it! Dare I say great minds think alike....or would it be more like strange minds...lol. So we now have Cheeky and Sylly.

I need a name! and Merry Christmas

I wonder if you can help me? I am a new addition to the family and I don't have a name yet. My Mum bought me from the Vet's in Bacchus Marsh. I was in the local paper and I was a very good buy as I came de-sexed microchipped vaccinated advocat-ed (flea worm mites protection) and with some food and a toy. The vets also had another 19 of my cousins but some had already gone to new homes so if you aren't too far away and would like a new addition maybe you can think about adopting too.

I am very very friendly and I purrrrr all the time.....and climb up onto my Mum when I want to go to sleep. My Dad tells people he doesn't like cats but when Mum isn't looking I have been climbing up and giving him a cuddle too and he lets me! He has even been nagging Mum about my food or water (as if she didn't know)!!!

Aunty Sharon suggested Claus. My Mum doesn't mind it but wants to know what you think? She thinks my markings look like a cows....how rude!!!!
I don't look like a cow do I! Some other people have suggested a Collingwood name (football team) as I am black and white. My mum thinks thats dumb cos she barracks for Essendon.

Oh I almost forgot to tell you I am a boy cat.

Haha...shhh....don't tell... I put one of me and my Mum here, she hates her photo taken cos she takes rotten photos but she let my Dad take this one because of how I was asleep on her.

Well all this typing and loading up photos has made me very tired specially on my Mum's stupid dial up connection but she did tell me I have to say to all her old friends and all her new ones she's made from blogging this year,
Have a very Happy and safe Christmas.

It's time to say goodbye.

The day before I went to Perth we received some very upsetting news. It came as quite a shock. We received news that our racehorse (jumps) Menkaure had to be put down in Adelaide where he was being trained. The most upsetting thing is that he had an infection in his tendon which could have been treated if it had have been treated earlier.

I don't want to go into the blame game here but knowing that it was preventable is the most upsetting thing. Not only was he a very good horse with great jumping ability which we still hadn't seen the full potential of but we have had him since he was a yearling, he would have been 8 in August. I put it to the back of my mind in Perth but now it's time to say goodbye. I still get a bit teary when I think of it and I have been trying not to think about it but now it's time.

This is how I will think of him........running free in the big paddock in the sky with his mates. Goodbye Junior I will miss you.

New Baby!

Here is Tim's (DS4) new baby. Somehow I have got the babysitting job until he is old enough to go "on the job" with Tim who is a plasterer. Tim has called him Cronk after Cooper Cronk the Melbourne Storm player! He is a red staffordshire bull terrier so I guess when he is older it will be an appropriate name. He is cute! First photo is on the drive home.

It's been a few weeks but it's been busy as usual.
Family wise my DD came home from her trip to Europe to discover she is pregnant which is what they had planned so very good news. Unfortunately she is having a few problems with cramping and spotting so we are hoping for things to settle down and it is a bit of a stressing time for her which of course affects me.

Spring is in the air and summer is around the corner. A lovely time of year in the garden, very distracting really. The roses are all getting ready to burst open, some have started already. Even the pea straw keeps sprouting peas! Above is Cafe, a gorgeous rose with coffee shades as it ages.

I had been doing a bit of sewing at night and one of my WIP's is Not quite shabby pictured left.
If I get time to finish this and quilt it I think it will put it on my bed.

I have changed to knitting at night, with the thought of number 2 grandchild on the way I thought I would get an early start and finish the shawl I had started when Isabella was on the way. I have nearly finished the shawl body with only two and a half more pattern rows to go. The patterns take me two hours so hopefully it will be finished by tomorrow night. Then I only have to do the middle border x4 then the outside border x 4. I am hoping the borders won't take too long but if they do I will have enough time over the months to get sick of it, give it a rest then go back to it.

Heres my dog and cat, well one of the cats. Lucas is a five year old Lilac Burmese, very loving and vocal! Saffron is a five year old yellow lab she looks very well fed but poor thing looks at food and puts on weight....I know the feeling!!!!!!! They are catching the late afternoon sun on the back verandah, funny Lucas seems to have the best spot as usual.

Below is one of my own quilts that I did manage to quilt. The Healing Quilt is a pattern from Patchwork on Stonleigh although their colourway was very different to what I used. This quilt lives in the "shabby chic" bedroom. The quilt is made up of nine blocks four of the peony blocks and five of the flying geese (goose track?) blocks.
