12 Kits of Occasions October 2016

Michele sent us a wonderful kit. I'm always needing thank you cards more than anything else! But this month I just couldn't devote as much time as usual to the kit :( I can't wait to see what everyone else did so I can get some inspiration and use the rest of my supplies. I'm embarrassed to show you the measly two cards I created, but here they are: (can you tell that I liked the leaf/feathers?!) Please go to the blogs of my fellow 12 kitters to see how much you can really do with this kit! Also, as I was going to upload from my camera we found out that with the last update my camera is no longer supported! So I had to take these with my phone.

MFT Sketch Challenge #301 & Color Challenge #54

Here's another thank you card and another chance to play along with not one but two MFT challenges that are happening right now, the color challenge and the sketch challenge! One friend got Sonny an orange dinosaur for his birthday gift so I knew right away that I was going to be making an orange dinosaur card! I was able to snag this adorable "You're Rawr-some" set when it was on sale. I added a Lawn Fawn Hat and some balloons from a Mama Elephant set I had and Wa-lah! I think it turned out pretty darn cute! Here are the two challenges I'm playing along with:

And here's my card:

MFT Sketch Challenge #301

I got Harvest Mouse last year when everyone was making the most adorable cards with it, but I got it too late to make fall cards...so I was dying to pull it out this year to make some :) Here is my first card with this adorable set! I used it to play along with this week's sketch challenge:

IMG_7258

I'm always in need of thank you notes (that's a good thing!). This time for Sonny's 3rd birthday which just passed this past Sunday, there are so many people that were so thoughtful and I want to make sure they know they are appreciated :)

Sentiment is from Avery Elle, Harvest Mouse & die are from MFT
Cardstock is PTI and patterned paper is Lawn Fawn

MFT Sketch Challenge #274

I was so sad to miss last week's challenge, but it was for good reason, we were celebrating Easter with family in Maine, and it was the first trial run in our new camper. We will be taking it for a long trip to FL soon, so we needed a closer trial run. I had a really busy weekend again this weekend, but didn't want to miss another week, so I used a sheep that I still had left from last time's card, and created a cute thank you note for the family members that we visited for Easter. They'll love the funny sentiment.

I'm loving some of the sets from the new release, so you'll probably be seeing some of those soon ;)

My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge #264

Well, I missed last week's challenge, but for good reason...I was in Alabama visiting my sister and her family! I had a great time, and I wanted to make them a note to let them know what a wonderful trip it was, so I broke out some of my new MFT stamps and got busy with this week's sketch. I actually ended up creating two cards with the sketch (I'll post the second one tomorrow).

Taylored Expressions Share Joy Challenge #17

When shopping on Ellen Hutson for their seasonal stamp sale, I accidentally came across this adorable Taylored Expressions set, and you better believe that I couldn't pass it up...campers with Christmas lights? Yes, please! Since I got it after Christmas I decided to use it to make some thank you cards! And I'm sure it will be reappearing next year for Christmas :) This is my first time playing along with a Share Joy challenge. I made 3 of these cards (one had the larger camper image on it) and gave one to my husband, and will be sending the others to his great aunt & uncle and one of his cousins to thank for a fabulous Christmas with them. If you would like to join in on this challenge, you can see the details here. I like that they give you the choice to use either or both the color and sketch challenges offered. This time I decided to just use the sketch.

My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge #262

I'm back again for the MFT weekly sketch challenge. I changed this one up a bit. Instead of using the 5 stripes all perfectly lined up, I decided to make them a little "wonky" in honor of all the new wonky dies that MFT keeps releasing :) I was inspired by a card that my friend Kara Vrabel made me for my birthday a few years ago where she did the strips all wonky like that, too. I used even more of my Christmas goodies. I have been having so much fun with them (thanks mom!).

This is actually the second card that I made, the first one I liked but decided to change a few things for the second, like the color of the soda bottle, and I popped up the sentiment. Which one do you like better?

My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge #261

Playing along with last week's MFT Sketch challenge was so fun that I decided to do it again, with more of my new MFT stamps! I made two types of these cards for this sketch and I liked them so much that I ended up making 9 more as thank you cards. Its hard to decide between the ornament and present card, but I think I like the present one the best, what about you? I have even more new MFT stamps, so you may be seeing me play along with one of the challenges again, soon!

Paper Smooches Sparks Trend Watch September 2013

IMG_6989

I don't think I've played in a Paper Smooches challenge since my DT term ended, so this was fun. You guys know how much I love my Paper Smooches! So I broke into some new dies to make a thank you card for this week's challenge. I have a lot to be thankful for lately, friends and family have spoiled me and Sonny with gifts for both him and for me for my birthday, so I've been making tons of thank you notes. I used just PS dies on this card (no stamping?! shock!). Believe it or not those rolled flowers were made for me as part of a birthday gift at least a year (or possibly two) ago by a friend (thanks, Gerry!). The patterned paper is from PTI. I love how sort of shabby chic this card turned out.

Paper Smooches Sparks Cool Shades May 2013

Paper Smooches Sparks Cool Shades May 2013

Another nautical theme, isn't it fun that PS now has all this cool nautical themed stuff? Today I used the awesome sailboat die, "Chit Chat," and "Summer Grooves" to create this card. Its hard to tell from the pic, but the ribbon is navy blue striped, and those are little wooden stars on the washi tape. I have a feeling that I will be using this sailboat die a lot..its so versatile! You can easily change the flag and sails. Here are the colors we were given this week to play with:

Now you can check out what the other DT members made here:

You have a week to play along, so why don't you join in? There's a great prize up for grabs!

Paper Smooches Sparks Cool Shades April 2013

Paper Smooches...my favorite! Time for my monthly Cool shades post. This time I used "Woofers and Tweeters" (the owl) "Pip Squeaks," and "Pretty Phrases." I also used Duo Die 2. The patterned paper is from PTI, and so is the cardstock. The twine is from the Twinery. Check out the colors we were given to play with this week:

So you've got a whole week to play along...join us! Now check out what the rest of the team was able to pull together:

Paper Smooches Sparks Trend Watch March 2013

Paper Smooches Sparks Trend Watch March 2013

It's my turn for another Paper Smooches Sparks post...my favorite post! This month's trend watch was smiles. After seeing the picture, I knew I had to pull out my "Vegtastic" set and use those adorable carrots :) Then I used "Pretty Phrases" to make a fun thank you card. The paper...isn't it perfect? When I saw the ruler with farmer's market, I knew I had to use it. This card was just plain old fun to make :) Now don't you want to play along? You've got a week to make your card and link it up at the sparks blog here.

Now I'm off to check out what the other DT gals created with this fun challenge :)

Paper Smooches Sparks Cool Shades Feb. 2013

Paper Smooches Sparks Cool Shades Feb. 2013

Notice any new dies?? Oh yeah, I got my Paper Smooches die order! I used three different dies on this card for the PSS Cool shades challenge :)  The Hot Spots Small Set 1 is the cool star die on the left side, the clipboards is the clipboard binder on top, and isn't the scallop notebook die adorable? I used the "I Heart Art" set because I knew I wanted to incorporate the colors into the paint splats :) The heart and arrow are both from SU punches. The patterned paper is PTI, and so is the cardstock. Here is the color story we were given for this month:

Paper Smooches Sparks Picture Perfect December 2012

Paper Smooches Sparks Picture Perfect December 2012

Its not my week on the DT for PSS, but I wanted to play along! Here is the photo we were given:

I used a bunch of sets for this card: "Friendly Flowers," "Chit Chat," "Word Salad," "Reflections," "Word Up," and "Cyber Café."
The paper is from My Mind's Eye, the ribbon from PTI and the pearls from Recollections. The pearls represent periods. I did the clear words so that you could see the white like the words in the photo. I stamped them in blue to represent the color of the wall and vase. I'm going to give this card to Phillip as a thank you for my awesome Christmas presents from him...a facial and a subscription to CARDS magazine!

Paper Smooches World Card Making Day Challenge #2

WCMD 2

The second challenge was to create a one layer card. I have to say that I love this card! All the fall colors (my new SU inks) all the fun foliage (from "Reflections" and "Autumn Grooves") and then the fact that its all with a woodgrain impression! That's from my new SU folder I ordered with my inks..I love it :) The sentiment is from "Pretty Phrases" again, and the dots under the sentiment are from "All Yule Need."

Cloud Wplus9 Blog Hop

IMG_6589

For some reason, I can't get this pic any bigger. Suzanne is coming over tomorrow, though, so I may have to pick her brain! Anyway, here is my card for this month's Wplus9 blog hop. I actually used my own Wplus9 stamp set this time! Here is the inspiration photo that we were given to work with:

The tree is from My Favorite Things, the "hills" from PTI. The twine is from The Twinery, the cardstock PTI. The label punch from SU. There is a new challenge every month, so grab your wplus9 stamps and play along for a chance to win!

Paper Smooches Sparks Picture Perfect Challenge: August 2012

Warning, this card is not like me! I showed Phillip and he said "It's done? Don't you need to do something with all that white space?" Nope, this time its part of the design. I think Jen will like it because I used a white card base ;) Do you like it, Jen??? What about the rest of you? It uses Paper Smooches, so it is my style...in a way ;)

This card is for the weekly Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge.

Here is the inspiration photo they gave us:

I used my new SU inks and the hexagons from PS "Vogue Abode" for the colorful elements on the couch. I didn't color them in so that you got the digital sort of feel on the couch with the white spots.

The sentiment is from PS "Chit Chat" and the twine is from the Twinery.

We are about to leave for another short camping trip and I wanted to make sure I had a card to enter into the PSS challenge before we left. This card was quick and easy...one positive of CAS cards! I hope you all have some great plans for Labor Day weekend :)

Retro Sketches #25

Last night, Jen came over for our weekly stamping night, and I got busy with some of my new stuff! Here is a thank you card I created with two of my new Paper Smooches stamp sets that I got with some birthday money, and paper from a My Mind's Eye paper pack my mom got me :)

Here is the sketch I used for this card. I changed it up a little bit, but the sketch is still there.

The horse silhouette is from the "Buckaroo" set and the sentiment is from the "Chit Chat" set. The frame behind the horse is from the PTI polaroid set that I ordered with this month's release items. I already cut out the polaroid for another card (you'll be seeing that soon as it's my PTI blog hop card!) and it was just sitting there, I thought, humm maybe I'll use this ;)

I used a Copic to outline parts of the letters so that they really pop. The buttons, ribbon, and cardstock are all from PTI.

This card came out with a real south western, Arizona type feel, what do you think?
