Del Sol (VERY pic heavy!)

Hi everyone!  A new post! YAY!  My internet is working now, but it's still very sporadic.  I don't know what the deal is!  Luckily it's moving very quickly when it is on!

Today I have a review of some of the coveted Del Sol polishes.  These babies are pretty neat!  They were a little hit and miss (you'll see why in a few), but I love the idea and the ones I picked were (mostly) very nice.

Secret Crush
SC is a nice peachy-pink color with a purple shift (indoors).  I really like it.  The formula was thin though, and this is four coats. That is a major turn off.  Which is too bad, because I like the color so much!  Outside, it turns a light plum, with that same purple shift.  It is really nice as well.

Foxy
This is a hot pink shade with a slight blue shimmer to it.  I, of course, love it!  The formula was still thin, but I got covered in three coats with this one.  Outside it is a nice purple color.  The blue shift gets kind of lost, but it is still subtly there.

Prima Donna
This is a JELLY!  Inside it's a coral jelly.  I love it!  I will be using it to make a jelly sammich sometime for sure!  Outside it turns to a darkish pink color.  Almost a magenta?  I'm not sure what to call it, but it's pretty :)  Since this is a jelly, it took four coats to cover as well.  It could be layered over something for fewer though.

Girls Night Out
Inside, GNO is a hot pink with gold shift.  Almost like China Glaze Strawberry Fields.  Maybe a little brighter.  Outside, it turns burgundy with the same gold shift to it.  I really, really like this one!  In both lights.  It was also the most opaque, with only two coats needed.

Heartbreaker
Heartbreaker is a classic red glitter, with silver pieces and a sheer red base.  Outdoors, the shade darkens to a burgundy color.  This is three coats of prettiness!

Rockstar
Rockstar is the disappointment of the bunch.  I noticed barely any color change at all.  It is a blue glitter with a little silver, and a (very) sheer blue base. Outdoors, it's a blue glitter with silver pieces and a sheer blue base.  It MAY have turned a little teal, but not enough to note.  I seriously don't think anyone but an addict would notice!  I barely did.

Del Sol nail lacquers change color based on UV exposure.  More exposure means a faster, more dramatic change.   I haven't gotten to test that theory since it is winter and the weather has been so crappy lately.  The day I took these was the must sun I'd seen in weeks!  For the most part, I was satisfied with the changes.  They all came with stickers on top of the bottles showing what they should look like in the sun.  None of the polishes, however, none of them changed enough to match the sticker color.  As I mentioned before, I didn't really see a change in Rockstar at all.  I was so disappointed.  It was supposed to be a dark green!  Bummer.

I do recommend that you try some of these.  Color change polishes are SO neat!  I would get Girls Night Out, Prima Donna and Foxy.  Skip Heartbreaker, Rockstar (obvs) and Secret Crush.  Also, check swatches online to make sure that they are going to be the same color they say they will!  You want to avoid some disappointment.

You can buy Del Sol at their website, along with various other color change products, for $10.  They can also be bought in some specialty stores (sally's has them online, and I hear the ABC store in Vegas and Hawaii has them... for example).

What do you think of these?  I'm sure some of you have them, I'd love to hear your experiences!  Thanks for looking!

BLAZE Color Changing Nail Color

Hi everyone!  Today I have an exciting new brand to show you!  Well, new to me anyway!  Who here has heard of BLAZE before now?  These polishes are the first I've seen from them, and I'm hooked!

As the title indicates, Blaze creates color change nail color.  I'm not very familiar with the technology, so I thought I'd give it a try.  The website simply states that SolarActive technology is the secret to the change.  Put even more simply: the polish you apply as one color morphs into something completely different once it is exposed to UV.  I received two polishes: Amethyst Rocks/Cosmo Nights and Cotton Candy/Razzle Raspberry.  So, let's look at the pictures and see what happens!  (Please click these.  They are MASSIVE!  I thought the collage would be the appropriate way to display these!)
Amethyst Rocks to Cosmo Nights
When I first got these polishes I rushed the bottles outside to see them change color.  It didn't happen.  The color change is SO much slower in the bottle than on the nail!  Once I got it on the nail (three coats, it is a glitter after all!), the change was almost instantaneous!  It went from picture 1 to picture 2 in about 5 seconds, with full change in 10-15 seconds.  I love both the start and end color.  Very pleased!  Application was also better than most glitters.  It wasn't thick and gooey and very manageable.

Cotton Candy to Razzle Raspberry
This one was a little "meh" for me.  This is two coats, and it is a pretty color (both inside and outside), but it's frosty.  If I can make it work without it being streaky, I will be all over using this!  Unfortunately, I'm not good at making frosts look good.  Overall change was a little bit faster, 2-3 seconds.  I wish I loved it more, but I expected the end result to be darker.

I was SO excited to get these polishes.  If any of you really know me, you know I love love love trying new things!  Like I said, I rushed the bottles outside and my heart was crushed that they didn't change.  I am very happy I didn't write them off without trying them on the nail first!  I guess that's a lesson of the "never judge a book" variety.  Just because it doesn't work in the bottle doesn't mean it doesn't work.  It just means that the glass is hindering the UV process.  If I hadn't ever put them on, I would not have been able to recommend this brand.  But, I did.  So, I do.  There are shades for every taste.  There are reds that change to black, blue to green and most other combinations you can think of!  I will be getting more!

The Blaze Brights collection retails for $12.95 on the Blaze website.  They also have Kenzie's Classic mini collection available for $7.95 each.  If you would like to buy them or find out more information, you can find their website here.
You can also follow like them on Facebook.

So, what do you think?  Will you be trying them out?  Let me know if you do!  Thanks for looking!
