Mmmmorbid

Thursday, October 21, 2010
Morning guys! I hope everyone's fine. Today will be a super quick post, even I am surprised about it because normally I like to blabber a lot, but I only want to show you my NOTD. :-)

Wet n Wild Morbid Konad Imageplate M57 China Glaze 2030 Regular Polish Stamping

Before I painted my nails I applied Nailtek II and my base colour is Wet n Wild Morbid. I got this one in a swap some time ago and it's definitely one of my favourite greens. It's a blackened shimmery green that never bores me. It needs two coats and it applies good, the only issue I have are the caps and short brush - but that's something personal.

After that I took out my Konad Imageplate M57 and picked out the lacy leopard design. I used China Glaze 2030 as my stamping polish, I need another bottle because this one is my all time favourite. After stamping everything was sealed with China Glaze Fast Forward Top Coat.

Well, that's it for today. Take care and thanks for stopping by!

Pastel Leopard

Saturday, September 18, 2010
Hi everyone! Finally, weekend! :-) I've showed you a nail art design a while back, the crazy leopard one and yesterday I wanted to do a similar thing but a little less in your face.

Pastel Leopard Nail Design Nail Art Konad Imageplate M57 Regular Polish Stamping

I chose pastel colours for this design. The base colour is Something Sweet from China Glaze, a very pale soft pink. After applying my quick dry top coat (I'm super impatient) I used Konad imageplate M57 and China Glaze 2030 for the leopard print. I wanted to use a pastel for this but 2030 is one of my favourite stamping polishes, it stared at me and I couldn't refuse. When that was done I coloured the spots with Diamond Cosmetics Tranquility, using a small and thin paint brush.

I mattified it to see how it looked but it didn't make a huge difference as you can see on my picture. I think it looks pretty cute for a day and I'm sure it will be removed tomorrow. Hopefully I can find some inspiration to do freehand nail art because I'm really missing my mojo haha.

Have a nice weekend!

Ciaté - Snatch

Ciaté Snatch Tomato Red Creme Konad Imageplate M57 Fishnet OPI Suzi Skis in the Pyrenees China Glaze Matte Magic

Hello readers! How are you doing today? I hope everyone is well! :-) Today I want to show you Snatch by Ciaté. Ciaté is one of my favourite nail polish brands. Every single polish I've tried so far, from creme to glitter, rocks my socks off. I was very pleased when I received this pretty in the mail!

Ciaté Snatch Tomato Red Creme Konad Imageplate M57 Fishnet OPI Suzi Skis in the Pyrenees China Glaze Matte Magic

Snatch is a very bright tomato red creme, and when I say very bright I mean very bright. This is the kind of red that I call 'porn red' - though this one doesn't feel tacky on me.

Application was good, the formula had the perfect thickness. Not too thick and certainly not too thin. Snatch dried fast and super glossy so there's no need for a top coat (f.e. when you're in a hurry). I needed two coats for Snatch to be opaque.

I get bored easily. I wanted to do a wear test and after two days I started to get the itches and I changed the manicure.

Told you it was a red that screams for a fishnet pattern. ;-) I used Konad Imageplate M57 and OPI Suzi Skis in the Pyrenees as my stamping polish. I topped it with a top coat. First I wanted to use a regular black creme for this but it looks wayyyy better when sparkly.

And that wasn't where the fun stopped!

I added China Glaze Matte Magic. The suede stays glittery and Snatch is matte. It looks absolutely awesome and the design seems so well fit for the colour. I will wear this again.

Ciaté is available on their website. They ship internationally so it's definitely worth of having a peek. A bottle of Ciaté contains 13.5ml polish and costs £9.00.

Have you tried polishes from Ciaté and what is your experience with them?
Thanks for stopping by!

Green Zebra

Monday, August 23, 2010
Hey everyone! How are you all doing today on this Monday? Hopefully the week started good for you. I haven't got a lot to show or tell you today so I think it's better to have a look at the manicure I'm wearing now. :-)

Nfu.Oh #569 Zulu Dupe Nfu.Oh #66 Holographic Regular Polish Stamping Konad Imageplate M57 Zebra Design Nail Art

Remember the holographic zebra I did a while back? This is also a holographic zebra but with a different holo. I'm wearing Nfu.Oh #569 as my base colour and Nfu.Oh #66 as my holo. The zebra design is from Konad Imageplate M57.

I have to say I am liking to stamp with holo's more and more every time I use them so really, try it once for yourself! Oh and before I forget: the stamping polish database has grown a lot and you all have given me lots of additions for the list. Thank you very much! :-)

Thanks for stopping by!

Crushed Shells

Tuesday, August 10, 2010
Hello everyone! I’m about to bore you with a little story about crushed shells so I’m warning you – if you’re not interested, scroll down to see the pictures.

OPI Gargantuan Green Grape, Konad Imageplate M57, China Glaze 2030 and Viva La Nails Lime Crushed Shells

A few months ago I ordered ice chips at Dollar Nail Art. They looked gorgeous and would be amazingly great on a manicure if only I knew what to do with it. When receiving my samples package from Viva la Nails I found out that there were crushed shells in it. Crushed shells, you ask? Yes, crushed shells. Tiny bits of coloured shells.

And that is when my brain started to get crazy. If I can’t work with ice chips, I can’t work with crushed shells! After trying to create a manicure with ice chips and completely failing with it I didn’t see that much of future for the crushed shells. But I tried and this is the kind of – weird – result.

OPI Gargantuan Green Grape stamped with Konad Imageplate M57 and China Glaze 2030, finished with Lime Crushed Shells

My crushed shells are the colour lime, super funky if you ask me. My base colour is OPI Gargantuan Green Grape and I’ve stamped with China Glaze 2030 and Konad plate M57. I only stamped half of my nail (exception is the ring finger) and placed the crushed shells under the stamped part. I don’t know why I also used the crushed shells on my ring finger but I did and I don’t like it haha.

The crushed shells DO have a nice effect. Check out my pinky in detail:

Funny right? It’s constantly showing this glance. Please note that Viva La Nails says you can’t use the crushed shells on natural nails (only in gel or acrylic techniques or on nail extensions). I don’t know why this is because these stayed on fine and nothing happened. If you know why, please explain!

Thanks for stopping by!

Nail Art Tutorial: Crazy Leopard (Konad)

Monday, July 12, 2010
Hi all! A while ago I've showed you a leopard mani and a couple of readers requested a tutorial for it, so here it is! It isn't difficult but you have to have some patience. You can create the leopard spots freehand but I used konad. If you're having troubles with konad or you don't know how to use it, I'm really suggesting you take a look at the how to that Michèle created. You can find it here.

Before you start it's definitely a good idea of getting all the stuff you need and keep it right in front of you.

As you can see I'm using black konad stamping polish for this, but you can also use your good pigmented regular polish. I'm not using the konad metal scraped because that can cause a damaged plate, instead I use an old plastic card. The leopard design is found on konad plate M57 and last but not least, you'll need a stamp. The picture next to it shows the polishes I'm using to colour in the spots: Color Club Almost Famous, Essie Pretty Edgy, Zoya Robyn and Ciaté Main Stage.

Leopard Konad Imageplate M57 Nail Art Design Nail Art TutorialBefore anything potentially dangerous happens we're just starting with the known routine. Use your base coat and pick out a nice base colour. I'm using H&M's Love at First Sight, a white creme that gives good coverage.

After that you can relax. Let the polish dry completely. If you don't you'll press the polish aside when using konad and this will create some messy nails. You can also use a quick dry top coat if you haven't got the patience for this. :o)

After that it's time to get out your konad stuff! As you can see in Michèle's tutorial, it really isn't that hard. It might take a little bit of practice but you'll get the feeling quickly enough. I always clean the plate and stamp for using it with a cotton pad and polish remover. So, we're starting. Put a little bit of the polish you're using on the design (you don't have to fill up the entire design unless you want to do that) and scrape the polish over the entire design. Make sure every tiny bit of the design is covered! Pick up the polish with the stamp and make a circular motion over your nail. This is quite hard to do for some so if it doesn't work out the first time, don't be disappointed! You have to experiment with this. It could be your pressing too hard on the plate, or too soft, or you're using the wrong polish. Once you've done one nail, you can start with the others. I always clean my plate and stamp after doing one nail, also with a cotton pad and polish remover. If you're scared of ruining your manicure you can use tweezers to grab the cotton pad. The result:

The design was too big for my nails and I stamped over my cuticles and fingers. This isn't awful, you can remove this when doing the last clean up. Since I'm really picky and I hate messy fingers I always do a clean up after stamping - but this is really your call. It's definitely not necessary.

Done with the konad? Then we're going to colour the spots! You can use a striper for this but I'm using a pointy brush that I picked up in a dollar store. Brushes for this don't have to be expensive!

I'm also picking up the polish right from the bottle. You might not want to do that so you can also use a piece of paper or a bowl where you can pick up the polish. Use the tip of the brush to colour the spots and be gentle, you don't want to have a huuuuuge blob of polish there.

The pictures below show you the process of creating these coloured spots. I'm always using the same brush but after using one colour I rinse and clean it with acetone remover. You can click these, and all other pictures in this post, for an enlargement.

For the finishing touch, use top coat. You can use the konad top coat so that the stamping polish won't smudge but I don't own it so I'm using my trustworthy Nubar Diamont. If you're not using the konad top coat be careful! You want to apply it in a floating way so the brush doesn't touch your nail. Voila! Finished!

Hope this was helpful! Have a nice day!

Crazy Leopard!

Tuesday, April 27, 2010
Hi again dear reader!

I wasn't planning on posting again today but there's something I really want to show you: another leopard mani! This one looks more funky than the one I posted a couple days ago haha.

I started off using China Glaze - White Out as my base colour. It applied pretty good - I can't handle light coloured cremes for some reason but this one turned out good. I'm also looking for another white polish I can use as a base, any recs? I thought of OPI's Alpine Snow Matte but I'm not sure about that one.

Aaaaanyway. I used Konad's Black stamping polish and plate M57 for my leopard pattern. Here's the result:

Leopard

I quite like the stamping polish. It's a bit goopy but easy to work with, especially for a Konad noob (I'm still one).

After that I picked up a little paint brush and started to colour the spots. I used the following polishes:
- Ciaté - Cocktail Dress (Pink)
- P2 - Artful (Green)
- P2 - Gigantic (Blue)
- China Glaze - Lemon Fizz (Yellow)

I have something to say about the P2's. They rock, hard! I'll definitly swatch these later because the colours are absolutely funky and they apply like a titty - that's a Dutch sentence translated, I don't know if you people use it but I am.

After spending a few minutes feeling like Bob Ross this is what you get:

Crazy Leopard

Crazy Leopard

A funktastic, crazy leopard mani that rocks my socks off. It would be so funny if there were leopards with their fur coloured like this!

That's it for today (yah really!). Thanks for visiting!

Leopard Konad

Hi dear reader!

Today I'm wearing Essie's Greenport. Greenport is from the North Forth Collection and apparently it's hard to find now. I saw it on a British etailer site and I ordered it because the colour looked pretty darn awesome. And it iiiiiis! I can't remember the site so I'm sorry for the ones who wanted to order there. Greenport is a really pretty muted aqua.

Anyway, on to the pictures.

Leopard Konad

Something really weird happened. It was like my Konad stamp was oily (it wasn't) and it slipped off my pinky. I tried so save it and stamped again but the damage was done already and now my pinky looks like I was drunk while stamping. Luckily the rest worked out.

Also, trying to be creative in pictures isn't something that works for me because it looks like my thumb is cut off but HEY! Isn't it a nice scarf I'm holding?

Leopard Konad

I used China Glaze Awaken as my stamping polish and Konad plate M57.

That's it for now. Tomorrow I'm having a nailpolish playdate with Karin, Michèle, Daph and Natasja and I'm so looking forward!
Have a nice weekend!
