Moon-gazing Hare

Hi! Here's a birthday card I just made for my a wonderful friend of mine. We've known each other since University, where she earned the affectionate nickname of 'Stroppy Moose'. Apart from being  a little bit on the stroppy side, she's all about hippie remedies, old pagan traditions, and the beauty of the outdoors. She is also a Mountain Rescue volunteer, helping to train the rescue dogs.

I've used an image of a moon-gazing hare because it is associated with growth, new beginnings and good fortune, and there's something magical about an animal bewitched by the moon!

I coloured the image with ink dusters, masking the moon. I added extra colour to the grasses with promarkers, and embellished with punched flowers.

I'm entering this in the following challenges:

Sparkles Monthly: "Animal Magic"

Cutie Pie: "Escape to the Country"

The Paper Shelter: "Make it Digital"

The Corrosive Challenge: "Spring"

Creative Inspirations: "Anything Goes"

Peace On Earth

Hi! Here are a few more cards from this weekend's card-making frenzy. They are all made using the Stampin' Up stamp I bought last year but didn't get around to using!

This one was made by clear embossing the stamped image onto watercolour paper, and colouring with Brushos. I then added a few gems and layered it onto gold and deep blue card.

I'm entering this into the following challenges:

Cupcake Inspirations challenge:

The paper Shelter: "A Christmas Card"

This one is similar, but I used shabby white embossing enamel instead of clear. I like the warm colours in this one.

I'm entering this in the following challenges:

Color Throwdown:

Come And Get It: "Anything Goes with a Sentiment"

I used the shabby white embossing enamel on black card for this one, and then added a green border and ribbon.

I'm entering this in the That's Crafty challenge: "Black & White with a Hint of Colour"

This is the same card, but in red, and the ribbon was inspired by the photo in the current Card Concept challenge:
The Style I was going for is Clean & Simple.

This is another one that was coloured with Brushos, and I added a few punched sparkly snowflakes. I like the colour of them, but I'm not too sure if orange snowflakes look cute or weird!

I'm entering this one in the following challenges:

Time Out challenge: "Snowflakes are Winter's Butterflies"

Pink Gem challenge: "Inspired by a Christmas Song or Carol" (Hark the Herald Angels Sing)

Summer Sailing!

Hi! I've been looking through some challenge themes and Addicted to CAS have a Chevron challenge at the moment. I'm not very good at geometric cards, but chevrons made me think of waves, and that fitted in with a couple of other challenges I've seen, including the Shopping Our Stash challenge, which is all about how you like to relax :)

Anyway, here's one of the cards I made:

I'm entering this one into the following challenges:

Addicted to CAS: "Chevron"

Crafty Creations: "Four" (4 little gems)

Hand Stamped Sentiments:

I made another version of the card in different colours, so it wasn't quite so girly...

Happy New Home!

Hi! I've been meaning to make a Happy New Home card for a friend of mine who is buying her first house soon. I think it's still early days, but it's nice to have a card ready, and I was prompted by the current Less Is More One Layer challenge: "Home" :)

Here's my card:

I used a digistamp from  Broken Box Stock. I've kept the colours simple, and added a little bling by adding gems to the flowers.

I'm also entering this into the following challenges:

Something New

I needed to make a birthday card for my friend, which is always problematic because she is very creative and makes beautiful cards! No pressure, then.

We both sell cards at work, and last week she joked that I'd give her one of her own cards for her birthday, or maybe give her one of my old cards that has been at the back of the display for ages because nobody wants to buy it...

Anyway, we were due to go on a wet felting course the day after her birthday, and had been talking about trying out felting for a while, so I thought I'd have a go at a small piece of felting for a card. I tried to follow an online tutorial, but I had to try to roll up the felt in bits of cardboard because I didn't have anything to use as a rolling mat. It sort of worked, but probably only because it was such a small piece of felt!

I added beads and some metallic embroidery thread on the flowers, and used green eyelash yarn for the stems. Here's what I came up with:

Beautiful New Heart Stamp!

Hiya!

The other day I saw a beautiful card at  Andie's Space, and completely fell in love with the stamp. So much for saving up for the NEC Hobbycraft Fair... I found the stamp online and bought it. It is really gorgeous, and will be perfect for wedding cards, anniversaries and valentines day! Ok, I'm trying to justify it, but it is lovely.

I've had a go at colouring and embellishing it, and keeping the rest of the card simple and plain, as it's a very ornate stamp. It has a red border, and I've left it without a sentiment, so it can be used for anything.

I'm entering this in:
Truly Scrumptious 'Clean & Simple'
The Paper Shelter 'Anything Goes'
Heart Song Inspirations 'Use the color orange and/or Buttons'
Allsorts 'Keep it Simple'

Here are a couple more I made, as anniversary cards, in blues & purples:

Things with Wings

Hiya! Finally managed to get some card making done, and had a good time just mucking about with stamps and inks :)

Inspired by all the challenges my friend Linda enters, I decided to have a go at Papertake's Things With Wings . I tried to enter last night, but my internet connection died, so I hope I'm not too late...

I'm still trying to get the hang of using a brayer, and sponging edges. I was smothered in inks by the time I finished this! I used Lavinia stamps, Stampin' Up &  Adirondack inks and DCWV Once Upon A Time backing paper.
