The Magic of Unicorns

Hi! Friends of ours have a lovely little daughter who is completely obsessed with unicorns, as every sensible person should be... So I made them a unicorn Christmas card using a Lili of the Valley image, coloured with inks and sparkled with a clear star gel pen. I added some glittery Nuvo Drops to the santa hat, for even more glitter! The photos aren't great, as they were taken in a hurry, but you get the idea :)

I also had loads of fun making some 'unicorn poo' for her. It's made with various glitters, nuvo drops, and glow in the dark powder. You should have seen the state of my desk afterwards... but hopefully she will like it! I made the label with a bit of torn paper, edged with a Clear Star gel pen.

Funky Flowers

Hi! Here are a couple of Mother's Day cards I made, using my new Lili of the Valley flowers! I love these images :)

I coloured the flowers with inks. For the first card, I layered up the middle panel to add a bit of dimension, and added a little gem. For the second card, I added white dots with a white gelly roll pen, and some glitter with a Clear Star gelly roll pen.

Cuddle Monster

Hiya! Here are some more valentines cards I made - I tried to do something a bit different from the usual hearts and flowers, and went for … monsters!

I smooshed inks onto acetate and then squished the monster image into the ink. When dry, I cut it out and layered it onto the card. Then I added sparkly horns with a gelly roll pen, and coloured the eyes and fangs with a white gelly roll pen.

First card in ages... Sparkly Unicorn!

Hiya. Here's a card I made for a friend's birthday. I masked the unicorn, then used ink dusters to colour the background. I coloured the unicorn with a gold Wink of Stella pen and a Clear Star gelly roll pen. I used Lavinia stamps to add the flowers, and added Nuvo drops for the flower centres. I added the gelly roll pen to the word 'Magical', to give it some extra sparkle.

Valentine

Hi! I got a new heart cutting die, and have been trying to figure out how to use it, as it's quite ornate. I've made two cards, both using smooshed ink for colour.

In this first one, I smooshed the inner and outer heart shapes in inks, and then spritzed with Glimmer Mist. I made a lot of mess and dyed my fingers.. and realised it would've made more sense to ink up the cardstock before cutting the shapes... But anyway, I glued the outer shape to the card, and used 3D foam to attach the inner heart, for some dimension. I added a small punched flower and a gem to the raised heart, and stamped the simple sentiment below.

In this second one, I cut the shape out of a square of white card, and then out of red card, and inlaid the red outer heart shape in the white card. To fill the heart shape in the middle, I smooshed more inks on a piece of card, spritzed with Glimmer Mist (I love that stuff!), and then stamped small flowers in red and black. I added gems to the black flowers, then used 3d foam to fix the card behind the heart. I added an 'I love you' die cut sentiment below the heart.

Painted Harvest

Hi! I've been drooling over the Stampin' Up! Painted Harvest set for a while, and my lovely mate Debbie found it on eBay for me... would've been rude not to buy it! Here are a couple of cards I made with it. I masked the panel and then stamped the flowers. On the purple one, I added some leaves, and used an ink duster to colour some of the background green. On the blue one, I added mica powder to the flower centres and to the inked blue card border, but it's hard to see the shimmer in the photos.

Reindeer Baubles

Hi! Here are a couple of cards I made using Distress Oxides for the background. I am so addicted to oxides now, I think I need to buy some more colours! I have 14 so far, which seems a lot, but urggg... I just want them all!

The first card has a liberal spray of Glimmer Mist on the background, but I left the second one as it was. I layered the bauble die cut over the background, adding a bit or torn card under the reindeer's feet, for a snowy bank. I used 3D squares to fix the bauble to the card, and added a bow to the top. The bows took me ages! I am so rubbish at tying bows, damn faffy things. I might have to get one of those bow maker things.

Anyway, here are the cards:
