ColourQ Colours

Hi! Here's a card I made yesterday, inspired by this week's ColourQ challenge:

The image is from Digistamp Boutique. I used ProMarkers, SU markers and Stickles, and layered it on to a deep purple cardstock to frame it.

Post-Holiday Blues

Hi! My fella & I are just back from a wonderful holiday with my lovely mate Linda (Crafty Distraction) and her family! We had an amazing time, but now it's back to work, and I'm fighting off the post-holiday blues by binge-watching old episodes of Charmed, and making cards!

Here's one I just finished, inspired by the challenges at Less Is More and Color Throwdown:

I'm thinking of trying a Christmas version of this card, by adding some glittery snow to their heads...

Yellow & Gold!

Hi! There are a few sunshine-related challenges around at the moment, which makes me think of sitting in the garden surrounded by bright flowers and happy bees! So here's a card inspired by sunshine:

I watercoloured the images with inks, and then added some gold with a Wink of Stella brush pen, and added stickles to the wings of the bees. The shimmery gold from the Wink of Stella isn't that obvious in the photo, but it looks lovely when the light catches it :)

Can't get enough of my Birch Trees stencil!

Hi! Here's another card made with my recently purchased new favourite stencil! This time I have made a square card, and added 3 punched flowers to the corner. I used a silver pen to add detail to the trees.

When I started making the card, the shape of the trees made me think of the current Friday Mashup! sketch:

The challenge is to use the sketch, use 3 elements, or combine both. The trees make me think of the lines in the sketch, and the 3 elements I have added are the flowers, although they are in the bottom left corner, rather than at the top in the sketch, so the sketch has been loosely used...

I'm also entering this in the Simon Says Stamp challenge: "Anything Goes"

New Memory Box Stencil

A while ago I came across this beautiful card:

The blog I found it on is here, and is well worth a visit - some gorgeous cards!

Anyway, I fell in love with the stencil, and had to get one... It arrived a few days ago, and I've just had a go with it tonight. My card didn't turn out quite as I'd hoped - I think I need some more practice! But I'm still quite pleased with it. The colours I used were inspired by the Seize The Birthday challenge: "Nothing But Neutrals"

Here's my card:

I used ink dusters over the stencil, stamped the cow parsley in dark grey ink, and added some definition to the trees with a fine black marker. I've tried to keep it simple, and have resisted the urge to add glitter or flowers, so that it would be suitable for a man. Man cards are so difficult!

I'm also entering this into these two challenges:

Create a project with "stencils"
Create a project with "a monochromatic theme"
or Mash it Up! and Create a project with "stencils and a monochromatic theme"

I love my new stencil! I might try another one, but put a sun or moon where the 'Happy Birthday' is, to set it off a bit. I'm wondering if I should've added the sentiment as a label instead of stamping straight onto the card, as it's a bit dark :-s

Urrrg, man Cards are So Difficult

I've been trying to make Fathers Day cards, and I find it so difficult - really hard to resist the urge to add flowers, ribbons, glitter and gems to bling them up!

Inspired by a couple of challenges, I've made a couple of 'man' cards using a Stampin' Up stamp:

This first one was inspired by the following challenges:
Less Is More: 'Sunset'

The Friday Mashup: 'Let's Ombre'

Virginia's View; 'Ombre / Monochromatic'

And here's another card using the same stamp:

I'm entering this one into the following challenges:

Fusion: 'Blue Skies & Smooth Sailing'

I'm quite pleased with how these have turned out, but I still want to add some gems... and one or two flowers would be ok, surely... everyone likes flowers....

Lavinia Stamps and Watercolour Pencils

Hi! I love Lavinia stamps, and have had lots of fun trying to make backgrounds with ink dusters and brayers (I can't get on with brayers at all!). However, I borrowed some watercolour pencils the other day, have been having a play around, and I love them! I'm still working out how to use them, but I had a go at a background scene, and I love how easy it is to blend colours together.

Anyway, here's what I came up with:

I put the hills, moon and sky in first, then stamped all the images. Then I added a shadow under the castle, and coloured in the tree. I've left if without a sentiment.

I'm entering this into the following challenges:

Lavinia Stamps 'Any Colours You Like'

Friday Mash-up 'Watercolor fun!'

  • Create a project with "Watercoloring".
  • Create a project using "the Sketch".
  • or Mash it Up! and create a "Watercolored Project using the Sketch".

    More Watercolour Flowers

Inspired by the CAS Colours and Sketches challenge, I've been trying to make cards using these colours:

I made a couple of cards which didn't turn out very well, so I'm going to keep them hidden! But I'm quite pleased with how this one turned out, so I'm entering it into the challenge:

I get a bit obsessed with square cards, so I tried one as a 5x7 card as well.

I'm entering this one in the following challemges:
    Inkspirational challenge: 'Purple'
    Allsorts challenge: 'Happy Birthday'
    Cupcake Inspirations: 'Bugs & Butterflies'

I love this stamp, and was having fun using the water brush, so I made a couple more, but in deep red.

I'm entering this one in the Friday Mashup challenge: 'Butterflies'
