Neighborhood BBQ

Every year our ward puts on a neighborhood BBQ and this year was not a disappointment either!
It was an evening of food, playing with friends, barrel train rides, and entertainment by those in the ward.  I do feel so lucky that I am surrounded by good friends and neighbors and grateful to live in Arizona to enjoy such beautiful weather!

Easter Weekend of Sun and Fun

This year for Easter we were ready to head to the beach and for a little time with Grandma and Grandpa Dunyon!  What more could a kid and grandkid ask for?
We took off Thursday evening and spent our weekend playing at the San Clemente Beach one day -
The weather was perfect and the company was even better!
Love a little Grandma time
And of course, there was plenty of sand digging,

 playing in the waves,
some sister bonding in the sand boat,
and sibling bonding being made into Merpeople

And, of course, we had to have a pajama trip to Frappy's Frozen Yogurt with Grandpa!  And yes, it must be in your pajamas.  That's what makes Frappy's taste so good.  Thanks Grandpa!

The next day, we took the canoes out in Dana Point Harbor.  Our last adventure here was on Paddle Boards where Kate, Lizzie and I got caught up in the wind, lost control of our boards and thought we were floating out to sea.  So I was impressed that these girls were adventurous to try these canoes.  Maybe it's because their daddy was with them this time.  We all feel a little safer with our daddy around.

And how can you go to the beach without a smushy face picture?
We ended our trip with a stop at Royal Burgers (a Dunyon family favorite place to have Burgers, where the owners know Grandpa Dunyon too well!).  Yum!

Easter morning was perfect.  Beautiful weather, a morning at church, listening to amazing speakers (which I actually got to listen to), sitting in on my dad's gospel principle lesson, and feeling right at home in the ward that I grew up in.  I loved every minute of it!

Then we came home, had a amazing dinner by Grandma.  But then again, when she cooks, what isn't amazing?  A short FHE lesson about the symbols of Easter and what they represent, and then the beloved basket hunt and egg hunt.
The table was perfectly set for this royal family!  Grandma treats us like royalty every time we come home.

This year, we hid Cole's basket so well, it took ALL the men in the house to find it!  In fact, Cole opened the cupboard it was hidden in a few times before he finally found it! HA!
Grandma's backyard is a perfect place to hide all the eggs for these little ones.  Grandpa even hid some big bills in a few of the eggs.  Lucky for Kate, she ended up getting $30 in cash!  What?!?!?  Lucky girl!  Let's take her to Vegas!

Max and Luke got a new swim suits in their baskets and they had to show them off!

And then, the kids had to indulge me with a few fun pictures to remember this perfect Easter day.
It took quite a few tries to get a good one, but I think we were able to capture the cuteness of each one of these people.  Oh, how I love them and spending time with them.

I am so grateful that I have such loving and kind parents who have taught me so much through their example and sacrifice.  That over the years, I know that I could be a handful at times, they still love me and want me to come home and spend time with them.  They are truly the best example I could have asked for and couldn't be a happier mother, wife, and daughter.  So grateful for the Savior and his sacrifice, so that I could be sealed to this family for eternity!

Spring Break 2016

I love the fact that Spring Break is a whole 2 weeks long!  I love that the kids actually get a break and if we want to, take a vacation!  So for the first week we stayed and played our days away at home with friends/playdates. bike rides, and lots of Wii/Xbox (something the kids only usually get on the weekends). They were in heaven!  I even threw in a few surprise trips around town to do some of their favorite things, like....
Park day and picnic at Tumbleweed Park with Julie Roberts Family
A morning at Flipside playing Laser Tag,
 Arcade games,
Max's favorites were skeet ball and air hockey

 Cole loved driving the motorcycle
Kate and Lizzie loved this jump rope thing and Kate even played Deal or No Deal.  She liked that one a lot!
Bumper Cars - I did them as much as I could until my stomach couldn't handle the spinning anymore!

Max was even able to figure out how these crazy things worked and loved being able to drive his own!
And some miniature bowling.  Cole blew us ALL out of the water on this game.  He has got one strong arm, that's for sure!
We did lunch out - Lizzie and I did a one on one lunch date to Chick-Fil-A.  Gone are the days when she would have half day kindergarten and this would be a favorite thing of ours to do together.  I loved being able to spend that time with this little one.
Spring Break also included a trip to play miniature golf at Golfland.  These kids had never been here before and it was a real treat!  It was a little on the warm side, but that didn't bother us too much.  I think they did really well, despite the fact that we had a few water hazards, ha!  And I'm not talking just about the kids either.

 Silly kids
Then we stopped on our way home at Bahama Bucks where I exposed them to what real Shaved Ice is supposed to be like.  Yum!
And last, but not least, we got to go to the Easter Pageant as a family.
There's no better way to start the Easter season then with a performance all about the Savior, his life, and the sacrifice He has made for us.  It makes me remember how important and precious life is and where my focus should be each and every day....

On my cute little family and making the memories that last a lifetime.
