Done

I'm finally done with school. I thought it would never end. What is it about unpleasant things that makes time drag. Whatever it is, it blows. Good news people: as of 11 o'clock today I will never, and I mean never, have to diagram another sentence as long as I live. It brightens my day just thinking about it.

Along with finishing school I also finished the beast of a project I had going known as a Kyle's sister's scrapbook.

Look at the pictures. Here are my three favorites.

Curtains! Curtains! Curtains!

First let's start with the kitchen. There is no before, because there were no curtains.

This is in our bedroom. I only half made these. This used to be a duvet cover. Then in about 3 seconds with my sewing machine I made them curtains.
Half made curtains from Ikea. These were about a yard too long for our sliding glass door. I hemmed them.

Before: These were in our dining room.
They were fraying all over the place.

Before: WOW! Does this not look like denim? Trying to illustrate the poor lining/ sewing job.

These curtains do not complement my belongings.

After!
I need to get a new lampshade for that lamp

still more fabric

This is Amy Butler fabric. I love her designs for fabric and patterns. They are all very cool. Well, Michael's is carrying PAPER by Amy Butler. I am so excited I could actually squeal. Don't judge me. There was a series of five minutes when I actually hopped a little. Okay, I hopped a lot. It comes in a 12x12 pad for 9.99. The paper is really super thick and textured. I am so excited.

I guess I forgot to mention that at work we are resetting all of our scrapbooking aisles. That means we are moving and getting new stuff for 7 aisles. It is so hectic. Not to mention that we have to reset other aisles too that don't have anything to do with scrapbooking. Also we are getting in all sorts of new stuff. It is fun to put away the new stuff. We will also receive an exclusive Martha Stewart crafting line in the next month.

Blueberries!

Remember when I said I had a blueberry craving that I couldn't shake? Well, I still haven't had any blueberries. This is how it manifested itself.

My latest obsessions

I am obsessed with this canvas board I made. I would like a whole room that looks just like this. With a big, huge chair rail or molding or whatever you call it and huge molding on the ceiling. I intended to put something else on it, but I can't decide. My latest obsessions are birds (mostly just the shapes of birds), trees, and cephalopods of any kind (cuttlefish, squid, octopus, nautilus) and marine life in general or even fictional marine life mermaids and whatnot. I made these as sort of dry runs for this altered book I was making. I haven't painted the book at all. Now I am not sure what to do. I was convinced of the green and red until I made the green one.

No Glove, No Love!

This is a pretty good motto for all situations, but in particular when you are using a carving tool like this.

Without a glove, you will put it through your finger and it hurts. Bad. I have this habit of yelling fuck whenever I hurt myself. When I slipped and it hurt I said, "Fuck!" When I saw that there was a huge gash in my finger with blood coming out of it I yelled, "Fuck!" and then I just gave another "Fuck!" just for the fun of it. Of course, all the foul language is alarming. Kyle comes around the corner looking concerned.
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I just cut the shit out of my finger. I'm fine. But it is deep!"

Somehow I have two cuts on my finger. Obviously that is from both sides of the V shaped cutting tool. The weird part is it didn't scoop out the skin. It is a miracle. Come pray at my finger.

And Finally Jesus Christ!

jesus christ

mixed media collage on canvas board, acrylic transfer mary, water color roses, arylic background very fun. This has nothing to do with our swap. I was feeling uninspired and then I found Jesus. The Lord came into my heart and made me want to glue something.

Any suggestions would be helpful!!!!

I have been knitting my ass off! I knit over half of this caplet to discover that I think I will have to take over half of my work out and fix it. This pattern sucks! I got a free pattern from Lion Brand Yarn. It says it is easy and I 'm sure it would be if the pattern didn't suck. To the knitters out there check rnd 2 and rnd 13 on the picture with the pattern and tell me what you think. Cause to me it reads like you cable two different set of stitches. Then when you pass 13 and get to Rnd 24 you wind up cabling the first set of stitches you cabled! The picture clearly shows that there is more twists in the cable and a large number of stitches between the cables. Should I follow the pattern through? Should I scrap it , take most of my work out and do what I thought was right to begin with?

Sit down. I need to talk to you.

Let's have a chat about knitting. About things that are a little beyond me.

First: Knitting with dog hair. Yep, dog hair. I watched an episode of Knitty Gritty about knitting with dog hair. It was for a dog sweater, but that doesn't matter. It is weird. You could either spin your own dog's hair or buy dog hair that is already spun. You can buy dog hair yarn. That is too weird for me.

Second: Cozies. I just don't get it. Why would your toilet paper or your tea or your computer screen need to stay warm? Inanimate objects don't feel. Why waste your time? And you should see all the things that people knit cozies for pencils, Kleenex, teapot, remote control. I just don't get it. What is the point?

Lauren the Conquerer!

That would be my name if I were a Russian Czar. Because I conquerered the hell out of that eyelash yarn. It was difficult and really slow, but I did it!

Day 245 on no shelves

When are we ever going to be able to get the shelves up! One of these days they are going to be up there with lots of crap on them and I will take a picture.

Hopefully when all the crap is on the shelves it won't be on my table or on the floor in my craft room. It is getting ridiculous in there trying to navigate through all the crap that has been misplace in order to put up the shelves. It is driving my CRAZY!!!!! At this point I just want to close the door and not go in until it is fixed.

You have to see this

I watched this woman at work on Crafters Coast to Coast. It is absolutely amazing!

make sure you look through the collection. She made the beaded cherry blossom tree on the show. Wild! I swear she folds an origami crane that will sit on the end of your finger!!!!!!
