Late Summer Shadows
Often here in Oz the day is so hot that the only thing for it is to close every kind of covering you have on your windows to keep out the heat and the glare and try and keep the cold air inside.
The day is spent moving through a home of soft greys and shadows as everyone tries to get past the worst part of the day. Hats are flung aside for when we next venture outside; instead books and children are scooped up and settled down with.
Later in the day here in the West, the Fremantle Doctor pays a house call and curtains, blinds and windows are flung open and fresh cool air rushes in and fills the house with summer smells and the light comes back to the house just in time for evening.
