Birthday Candle Shaker

Hello Y'all,

It is Fall so I feel like I can say y'all for a few weeks. So, today I am throwing my hat into City Crafter Challenge. Their challenge was to create a shaker card with a birthday theme. Also, I am entering Seize the Birthday challenge. This challenge has some delectable toppings of 'die-cuts or punches'. Here we go, enjoy!
The pieces were cut using a Cricut and a cut file from The Cutting Cafe.
They have a massive assortment of cut files for all cutters and digital stamps. It is a bit difficult to get around the site but it is worth it. Fantastic products!
I have had this in my head for quite some time and am so glad that it finally came to fruition.
Above: The background is made up of Designer Paper and the 'make a wish' sentiment was stamped. Also, the little 'let's party' tag was stamped. All other elements were either cut using a Cricut or die-cut. Left/Below: This card is an adorable shaped card. I think my soon-to-be eleven year old will like it. Right/Bottom: A detailed shot of the shaker portion of the card. The balloons ties are DMC coated in glue, partially dried, and formed. The glue was tacky enough to stick nicely to the card base.

Challenges Entered:

Well, that should do it for me!! Thank you so much for stopping by and do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. I hope you all have a fantastic day and lots of good crafting vibes headed your way.

Hey Bulldog!

Hello All,

The entire time while creating, editing, and now typing I had the Beatles song titled 'Hey Bulldog' stuck in my head. My earworm, of course, is the chorus, 'hey bulldog!'. The ending is what really cracks me up when we hear howling and barking made by the Beatles. So, here is my card for today, enjoy. Oh, I forgot to mention I will be playing along with City Crafter Challenge, Seize the BirthdayNaughty or Nice Challenge and Try Stamping on Tuesday

The bulldog was stamped on watercolor paper and then covered by masking fluid. When finished with the background I just rubbed off the fluid.
There are a ton of colors underneath the Black Soot Distress Ink.
They do seem to show through when picking up the ink with water.
I know, I know it is snarky but technically I am not swearing 😁.
I like this card because not all dogs are cutesy and cuddly. Some of them mean business. I thought it was a different way to look at dogs.
This sentiment is located inside the card; a section that I always seem to ignore.
Since we are talking dogs, here is my dog, Crown. He is a black lab rescued from Beruit, Lebanon. He was found with a broken leg and most certainly have died if Hearts of Hope didn't intervene.

City Crafter Challenge: Week 393- Colorful Dog(s)
Try Stamping on Tuesday: Negative Space Coloring
Naughty or Nice Challenge: #47- Celebrate
Seize the Birthday: Anything Goes

And oh by the way, here is the song 'Hey Bulldog' for your earworm enjoyment.

Well, that should do it for me!! Thank you so much for stopping by and do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. We will see you soon. Take care and happy stamping.

Blistery Blues

Hello Friends,

For today I will be playing along with Allsorts Challenge, Fusion, CAS Colours & Sketches, and Seize the Birthday. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

A gentle snowy backdrop displays a bright red cardinal admiring the view.
However, you will notice there is not a single snowflake or any sign of actual snow.
A color palette of blues, grays, and whites hint at a snowy scene.
Red cardinals do seriously stick out like a sore thumb
on a winter's day.
First, I used masking tape to mask off part of the card and then started to watercolor.
I removed the strip of tape and masked off a smaller portion of the same strip.
I then stamped the branches and added a thin black line to define the space.

Challenges Entered:
Fusion: 3rd Anniversary Happy Birthday Fusion!!!

I remember growing up blizzards so bad that our little dirt road wouldn't get plowed for several days. After a few days of being snowed in you would start to notice the house getting incredibly small, your family getting easily annoyed, and we all start to look like hot dogs. Okay, the last part wasn't true. The point is I had to keep myself occupied. So, before the storm, I would run over to Ames Department Store and get some jigsaw puzzles. While the blizzard was raging outside, I was inside enjoying myself with my jigsaw puzzle trying to fit just one more piece in before dinner. After we were all plowed out, I would finally have the opportunity to head outside and was astounded by nature's quietness. You get a sense of peace and stillness that no other season can offer. As I look back it was delightful to witness such beauty.

Well, that should do it for me. I am off to bed and will probably dream of my ole' stomping grounds in Pennsylvania. Thank you for joining me today. We will see you soon. Take care and happy stamping everyone!!

All the best,
Shawna

Rustic Rose

Hello Readers,

Busy day today but I wanted to carve out some time to post this card. So, for today I will be playing along with Seize the Birthday, Double D Challenges and The Card Concept. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

A lovely card using the Rose Wonder stamp set by Stampin' Up!.
The center of the flower was done using a combination darker pink alcohol markers
and then blending it in with a lighter color.

The rose was stamped on white lustre cardstock then heat embossed. And because alcohol markers are translucent the shimmer shines right through the color. I also used metallic copper embossing powder for the background and silver dots with silver lustre. Together they prove to look so pretty and elegant.

I dry embossed the copper background by applying VersaMark Ink directly on the embossing folder. This allows the debossed part of the card ready for copper embossing powder. I then took my black inkpad directly onto the card that hit all the embossed areas.
Below/Left: The copper background is so pretty against the silver dots and the magnificent rose. Bottom/Right: The sentiment was chosen for its message but also for its font. I think it fits this design so well. The black it seems sets off brings out all the colors on the card. So pretty.

Challenges Entered:
Double D Challenges: Anniversary/Blogaversary/Birthday
The Card Concept: #64- Pretty Things
Seize the Birthday: Anything Goes

Bright and Bold

Hello Readers,

For today I will be playing along with Addicted to CAS, Seize the Birthday, and Virginia's View Challenge

And a big shout out to Becca Cruger from The Damsel of Distress on her 30th birthday! From one Leo to another I wish you a very happy birthday!  She is celebrating with a card linkup party and thought I would join in the fun!

As the title suggests this card is bright, bold, and beautiful. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

I really like the black splatters around all this color.
The word 'birthday' was heat embossed in white and then resisted
with the addition of watercolor.
Bright and cheery Happy Birthday.
Many friends and family have Summer birthdays.
So better to be prepared than sorry.
I used the faux bleaching technique again.
This time in the word 'Happy'.
 Challenges Entered:
Addicted to CAS: Challenge #92- Stripes
Virginia's View Challenge: #22- Summer Challenge
Seize the Birthday: Bold and Bright
Becca's Birthday Linkup Card Party

Celebrating Becca's 30th!
Bright and cheery is a good feeling, isn't it? I believe this card creates a sense of happiness. Why? Well the color of course and all the white space surrounding it makes the color shine even more brightly. I know exactly who I am going to give this to (wink, wink). This someone shines with brightness and cheer. This card could not be more perfect.

Thank you so much for stopping by today my corner of the internet. I really do appreciate it.. So until next time take care and happy, cheerful crafting to you all.

All the best,
Shawna

Acrylic Flower

Hello Everyone,

For today I am playing along with multiple challenges with one card. I am playing along with Freshly Made Sketches, Seize the Birthday, CAS on Sunday and Color Throwdown. Here is my design for today, enjoy.

A simple ombre line balances the design of the card.
Stenciled the flowers using acrylic paint to go over the ombre black panel
The black diagonal panel was masked off and then sponged
to create an ombre effect.

Added just a bit of dimension by popping up the 'happy' sentiment.

Challenges Entering:

Today the sun is out and all is bright showing signs that Spring is in the air. Which is good because this card is loaded with color and yet, I believe, still has that CAS feel.. Acrylic paint was used for stenciling because I couldn't think of any other medium that would cover black. Nevertheless, I think it was a good choice for the black accent because it allows the color from the flower to pop!

Well that should do it for me.. I do hope you enjoyed your visit and want to thank all of you who have commented on my previous posts.. It lets me know I may be on the right track.. Now I must be off to clean my craft table. It looks like a bomb went off..

All the best,
Shawna

This card has a lot going on. Lots of color and patterns but that is how I

I wanted to use bright, bold colors, and graphic shapes to reflect the
bright, bold colors of the inspiration photo.
I think the sunshine in the background is a nice touch for this very cheerful card.
Detail showing the card's sentiment.
Die cut the word 'happy' the 'birthday' banner was
part of a gift tag that was given to my son for his birthday.
I loved it and kept it for the perfect card.
Entering Challenges:
Seize the Birthday: Cupcakes and Candy if you choose.
I choose not to use any toppings.

I hope all of you had a wonderful Valentines Day. For me, we spent the entire day looking for a new computer. After some soul searching and compromise we settled on one and will be getting it tomorrow!! However, I am noticing this clunker is not acting up today... Maybe it knows... I wonder?

Well thank you again for taking time out of your busy day to visit my corner of the internet. I do hope you will join us at PINspirational and play along. Until then take care and we will see you soon!

All the best,
Shawna
