Letter of Awesomeness

 Hello All,

Today I will be playing along with INKspirational and Color Throwdown. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

I had these letters left over from another project. So I randomly arranged the letters on an 8½ x 11 sheet of cardstock and cut it into quarters to create four 4¼ x 5½ panels. This is one of the panels.

The sentiment was built up by adding multiples of the shadow die provided with the sentiment.  The recipient was a teenager and thought these words would be a perfect addition to the pastel letters.

This understated flower was stamped on vellum and embossed in gold. I wanted to give the card some height but not distract from the letter background.

Challenges Entered:
INKspirational: #262- Photo Challenge

Easter Basket

 Hello All,

Today I will be playing along with Just Us Girls and INKspirational. Easter is right around the corner so I thought I would get started on my cards. Here is one of them for today, enjoy!

There are lots of curves and embossing that created this card. The basket was embossed using a weave pattern. The top of the basket was cut then folded for texture. I think it leaves a softer edge. The bow was die-cut and then embossed to leave a bow impression on the luster cardstock.

Above: The background has a subtle pattern to compliment the curvy shape of the eggs. Below/Left: All the texture was achieved using a mix of embossing folders and shimmery cardstock. Bottom/Right: Extra embellishments were added such as die-cut grass placed in between the eggs and the sentiment tag that is part of a larger die-cut premade sheet.

Challenges Entered:
Just Us Girls: Challenge #623- Trend Week - Embossing Folders
INKspirational: Challenge #260 - Word Prompt - Curve

Mixtape Especially for You

 Hello All,

I am here again to share another card I made with a retro feel for INKspirational. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

Remember mixtapes? Oh, I do! I always hated when the DJ talked during the first few seconds of a song you are recording from the radio. The pain is real folks and is something the children of today will never experience.

Half of the sentiment came from a 12x12 paper pad full of retro images and sayings. The second half 'especailly for you' was stamped and heat embossed. I also found some patterned paper with skates! So I cut out a ton of skates and placed them on the dark brown raised border.

Heart brads are shown a bit of an embellishment on this mini slimline.

Challenges Entered:

INKspirational: Week 248- Word prompt: Retro

Retro Skating

 Hello All,

For today I am playing along with INKspirational. Their prompt inspired me to look to the past and reminisce on my childhood favorite activity, rolling skating. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

I actually have a scar on the bottom of my right foot from excess roller skating. I remember having so much fun and it is hard to believe it is now a 'retro' style. UGH.

I bought a paper pad that featured all things 80's. Everything from mixtapes, drive-in movie theaters, and, yes, roller skates. I found within the packet patterned paper with tons of roller skates. I cut each one individually and placed them on the striped horizontal lines.

The holographic cardstock is outlined in brown.

Retro Vibes

 Hello All,

For today I am playing along with INKspirational, Fusion, and  Freshly Made Sketches. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

This simple card of peach stripes and retro shapes is a blast from the past.  The stripes remind me of socks from the 1970's time period. I was very young then but I do remember them well.

The mini slimline card features a retro-style sentiment. I die-cut its shadow then took that die-cut and die cut the sentiment. This gave a nice outlined image showing off the peach-colored stripes.

The places where I had to add a center of a letter are clearly illustrated. I die-cut another sentiment and used liquid glue to for the center of each letter. I then placed the die-cut directly in place and pushed the centers in their place.

Thank you so much for stopping by and I do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. Lots of good crafting vibes are headed your way. I hope you all have a fantastic day and please stay safe and healthy.

Yellow Umbrellas

 Hello All,

Today I am playing along with INKspirational and Double D Challenges. Yellow and gray aren't my favs but that is exactly the reason why I wanted to try this challenge. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

This card is designed with a metal stencil from Spellbinders (I think). I can envision a crowded city street while it's raining. Can you imagine... Crowds!!

The stencil was taped down over a sheet of dark gray cardstock. I used tinted embossing paste that was mixed with shades of yellow. I then added a thin sheet of paste to the stencil to give an ombre look. After it was dry I went back and carved the ribs of the umbrella for more texture and consistency.

After carving, I used a gray ink pad and lightly spread the ink over the paste at an angle to create a sense of rain. You can imagine pools of water washing over umbrellas. I colored between the umbrellas with a lighter shade of gray for contrast.

Challenges Entered:

INKspirational: Challenge 237 - Taxi Picture
Double D Challenges: April Showers

Slimline Tower

 Hello All,

For today I will be playing along with INKspirational. Their theme word this fortnight is 'Tower'. So with that in mind, here is my card for today, enjoy!

This an older stamp and die set from Papertrey Ink. I think they have the set in their blow-out sale. I thought tower and many things came to mind. When finally, of course, a tower of blocks!!! I used a slimline card base to emphasize the height of a tower.

Playing blocks are mostly painted using primary colors. The shapes were stamped using VersaMark Ink then heat embossed in clear. The color of the paper would be the color of the block but the stamp created a wooden texture (see below). It adds that extra touch added the texture.

This quote from Walt Disney sums up this card nicely. I thought it was the perfect sentiment for this tower card. This sentiment is actually made from one stamp. I stamped it three separate times trying to be careful to capture the text I need for each word fragment block. I also traced the sentiments using a black sharpie. I wasn't careful to keep the outline straight.

Challenges Entered:

INKspirational: Challenge #233- Tower

Love Bug

Hello Everyone,

For today I will be playing along with The Card Concept, INKspirational, Challenge Up Your Life, and Shopping Our Stash. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

This mini-slimline shaker card is full of fun shaky heart elements. A lot of them came from the hearts that were cut out to make these heart windows, some are heart sequins, and some are from another card that used this same diecut.

Above: Masking the bug and heart allowed me to apply the color to the same layer alleviating the use for another layer of CS. The ladybug is colored using Copic markers. Fortunately, it did not bleed through the 110lb. CS. Left/Below: The entire upper layer was lightly inked using Picked Raspberry DI then masked the 'love' using a heart diecut then finished up inking using Crackling Campfire DI. Right/Bottom: The shaker is built up by using this same diecut cut 4x. I cut the center out of each layer and placed it on top of one another. This made for a substantially thick card. It did however make for the perfect spot for grass. An unexpected dimensional effect.
