Geometric Birthday

Hello All,

Today I will be playing along with AAA Birthday and AAA Colourful challenges. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

Very geometric indeed!
Stamped the image, embossed it in white, sponged color on the paper, and then using the same sponge color palette I watercolor on top.

I wanted to keep the geometric feel by adding an outline sentiment. I completed the greeting
using a sentiment strip.

I layered the 'happy' die four times in white and once using black. I did attach it shadow using acetate. I thought it would be a nice subtle touch. The black outline on top of the white really allows it to pop!

Thank you so much for stopping by and I do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. I hope you all have a fantastic day and stay crafty my friends.

Sunflower Slimline

 Hello All,

For today I will be playing along with Double D Challenges, AAA Birthday Challenge and Freshly Made Sketches. Here is my slimline card for today, enjoy!

This is one of my favorite color combination. Sunny yellows and oranges are so striking against the teal chevron background.
This card makes me smile as I am sure it will do the same to the recipient.

By crossing colors with each panel it allows for continuity between framed panels. I also did used the same concept when coloring the sunflowers

Patterned paper share the same hue but different tonal quality. This gives a nice and interesting background without too much business.

Cupcakes

 Hello Everyone,

For today I will be playing along with Twofer Card Challenge and AAA Birthday. Their challenge word was well.... challenging; the word, cupcakes. Here are my cards for today, enjoy!

When you think of cupcakes the first thing that comes to mind is a birthday. For me, it was nothing else. How am I going to showcase two cards with the same image that has different occasions/themes? Okay Twofer, game on!!

First Card
Theme: complete snark!

This is an all-occasion card that can be used for any foodie, baker or anyone who likes to eat. I found this sentiment stamp and laughed out loud! The card features a cupcake full of frosting, but when you lift the flap it reveals the muffin, and the wonderful 'You're Welcome' sentiment presents itself.
.
It is also a traditional top folding card where I can put my equally snarky message. I added a shimmery cardstock to the back of the card for dimension and even more interest.

Second Card
Theme: Birthday

So here is the traditional birthday card that features the cupcakes from the first card that are colored using ROY G BIV color scheme.

The 'Hey Cupcake' was stamped using VersaMark Ink then sprinkled a tiny amount of powder for each color. I then used VersaMark again this time, white powder and set.

The Second Card

Shabby Butterfly

 Hello Everyone,

For today I am playing along with AAA Birthday and Freshly Made Sketches. This is not my usual style but I was so inspired on YouTube watching Bibi Cameron's video on Oxide Sprayed Embossing technique. I thought I would give it a try. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

Bibi's video really got me inspired to try this but in a different way. I don't have Oxide spray inks and when I tried using glossy photo paper it got so sticky! I couldn't handle it. So I tried my own version with DI spray and direct application of OI on an embossing folder.

I applied OI directly to the 3D embossing folder and ran it through my die-cut machine. The impression and color transfer were amazing. I could have stopped right there but no, I went farther because of Bibi. I sprayed DI directly on the embossed image using pinks and browns. I applied OI directly to the paper using the same colors.

The butterfly was created using the exact same process as the card base. The circle and ferns do a good job differentiating the base from the base and object. The use of twine for the body and antenna was also from Bibi's idea.

Full transparency: I accidentally deleted this post from its original date of May 3. I hope this doesn't cause confusion for challenges but just wanted you to know.

Thank you so much for stopping by and I do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. Lots of good crafting vibes headed your way. I hope you all have a fantastic day and please stay safe and healthy.

Feathered Birthday

 Hello All,

Today I will be playing along with AAA Birthday and Alphabet Challenge. I created quite an unusual mini slimline card featuring a feather. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

I have been inspired lately to use my existing patterned paper. So I dug through my stash and found this, not so old, paper pack that depicted feathers and flamingos. I thought this die cut would be a perfect way to use up some paper.

This is the classic inlay technique. Taking pieces from other patterned paper and laying them in the openings to create a retro color aesthetic.

I slightly curved the sentiment to match the curve of the feather. I embossed the sentiment in coral to match the color scheme of the card.

This is showing the back and how it is hinged. Just scored the back feather on top and glue it above the scoreline to create a card.

Blues and Rock

 Hello All,

Today I will be playing along with Retro Rubber Challenge, The Male Room, and AAA Birthday challenges. My son just turned 13 and has Beatles-mania. So I thought this card would be perfect for him. Here is my card for today, enjoy!

As I said above, my son's birthday was just the other day! He turned 13 and has a case of Beatles-mania! This explains the sentiment. I also like Retro Rubber's rock graphic; very fitting. He also plays the piano every day and has weekly lessons. I have known from a young age he loved music. He gravitated to every toy that was music based. So what a wonderful way to use an old stamp that is so fitting for my teenager.

The diecut piano keys and wavy background are elements I had laying in a drawer. I couldn't throw them out so I saved them and they sat for years. When it came time to pull together a birthday card in a snap I went through my drawer and came up with these; dusted them off and made his card! It helped that turquoise is one of his favorite colors.

The wavy background was a watercolor panel that was stenciled and distressed on the edges using acrylic paint. I added some dimensional adhesive where the card met the keys and came up with a fabulous shadow effect.

Challenges Entered:

AAA Birthday: Game #19- For A Child
Retro Rubber Challenges: They Say It's Your Birthday- #rrcb148
(CAS-ual Friday Stamps: Bold Wishes- At least 1-year-old)
The Male Room: Challenge #144- Toys

Thank you so much for stopping by and I do appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to spend time with me. Lots of good crafting vibes headed your way. I hope you all have a fantastic day and please stay safe and healthy.
