Every Republican running in this next election should thank President Obama...

...for this pre-election soundbite/gift:

From the Washington Post: "A couple weeks ago, President Obama declared that, while he wasn't on the Nov. 4 ballot, his policies were. And just about every GOP candidate in a red or swing state soon launched an ad using that comment to tie his or her Democratic opponent to Obama...While it's the second time Obama has gone down this road, this comment probably stings more than the last one for Democrats running in key Senate races -- almost all of which are in red or swing states where Obama is quite unpopular...While Obama's previous comment suggested the election was indeed something of a referendum on him, these comments suggest not only that, but that Democratic candidates are actually on-board with him -- something most of them have made pains to argue is not the case...Obama's comments are the kind of thing Democrats might privately say to assure donors, but wouldn't really say in public."

Just a few more weeks...

Early surrender?

"Tingles" acknowledges the obvious...

“It’s going to be very hard to hold the Senate — I think the Senate goes,” Chris Matthews said on MSNBC's Morning Joe earlier today. “I think we heard from the Ghost of Christmas Future this week; they’re going to lose the Senate,” he added, referring to Republican David Jolly’s victory Tuesday in Florida’s special congressional election.

The fat lady hasn't begun to sing, but it sounds like she's in the wings and warming-up...

One heckuva long drive...

And wet, too!

During the Democrats' all-night climate change "talkathon"/
sleepover in the Senate last night, Sen. Cory Booker (D., N.J. -- aka: media darling) let the world know that once upon a time, he drove all the way to the Aloha State.

“I just do want to say that right after I turned 17 and got my New Jersey driver’s license, one of the earliest places I drove was a trip — the only trip I have ever taken was to Hawai'i,” he said.

So which freeway did he take?

Bonus: Dan Quayle still not getting a pass from the media...

Who stands to make $1 billion off the sales of US Postal Service properties?

That would be U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and her husband, Richard Blum...

If you don't already know the story, it's one of intrigue, corruption and power.

In short, Blum is head of the world's largest commercial real estate company, which won the exclusive rights to sell over 600 post offices and USPS buildings is part of a plan to save $20 billion over the next three years (according to the Postal Service’s 2012 report to Congress).

The questions, concerns and controversies swirling around the role Feinstein played in landing the contract for Blum's company -- as well as the huge (potential) payoff awaiting him/them -- continues.

Diane Feinstein: The Worst U.S. Senator...

Hands down.

According to Sen. Diane Feinstein (D-CA)the First Amendment is a special privilege and not a right. Feinstein has proposed an amendment to the Media Shield Law that would ignore the protection afforded by the First Amendment and would limit the law's protection only to "real reporters," not bloggers and other upstart alternative media types.

Your rights, chipped away, little by little.

Hooray (who works for) Hollywood...?

Elizabeth Warren (Socialist), who will face U.S. Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) in a campaign for the old "Teddy Kennedy seat" in the Bay State, has been touting her socialist credentials, far and wide.

The truth is, like most socialist politicians, she says one thing and lives another. The latest anti-Warren video (below) is a hilarious send-up of the Oscar-winning "The Artist" (and a spot-on representation of who she is and who she represents...hint, it ain't the "1 percent").

Uncle Joe, the Dating Guru...

He is da man...

ABC News has compiled a video a Vice President Joe Biden giving dating advice to the daughters of U.S. Senators at yesterday's swearing-in photo-op.

Apparently, he was doing "the people's business"...

Which party does he belong to?

Oh, that's right...Democratic.

West Virginia Gov. Joe Manchin (right) has a problem (left)...(photo: Charleston Gazette)

West Virginia Gov. Joe Manchin (D), who looked like a cinch to capture the U.S. Senate seat that used to be part of the living fossil that was Robert Byrd, is now in for the political fight of his life.

While he is overwhelmingly beloved as governor, President Barack Obama seems to be moving toward a nearly impossible-to-believe single-digit approval ratings among West Virginia voters. And therein lies the problem.

West Virginians want Joe to stay with them. They feel like he's doing a fine job as the state's chief executive. "If Joe goes to Washington and gets sucked into the Obama mess, he and the state could be screwed," his constituents seem to be saying.

GOP challenger John Raese has managed to come on strong, shaking off a double-digit deficit to move to a lead in the polls which now have him beyond the margin of error.

You've got to hand it to Manchin: he's no quitter. During the last week, he's filed suit against the Obama Administration's EPA for its efforts to quash certain coal mining techniques (which really irks the coal mining-dependent state's citizens). And to top it off, Manchin goes over the top with the ad (below), which is designed to further distance him from the leader of his own party.

Another omen of things to come this November 2.

Bonus: In one campaign ad, the candidate shoots down Cap and Trade, ObamaCare, the EPA - and he does it with a rifle (and the NRA's endorsement). Can you imagine what would have happened if a Republican did all that?

Late add: John Batchelor also blogs on the West Virginia coal mine canary...

The ad they've been waiting for...

You could hear the bells going off as soon as she said it...

On June 16, 2009, U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) replied to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Brig. Gen. Michael Walsh's courtesy reply of "yes, ma'am," with an outburst that raised more than a few eyebrows. Since then, in e-mails and via call-ins on numerous media appearances, I've heard from pro-Carly Fiorina (U.S. senate candidate, R-CA) supporters who have wondered when Fiorina would make hay with the unflattering clip.

The wait is over...

From the Los Angeles Times:

"A week after her rival, Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer, aired spots attacking her tenure as chief executive of Hewlett-Packard, Fiorina’s first general election ad uses campaign footage from a well-known exchange between Boxer and Army Corps of Engineers Brig. Gen. Michael Walsh at a hearing more than a year ago of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, which Boxer chairs."

Boxer's exchange with the general:

"In the brief clip used by Fiorina’s team, Boxer has interrupted Walsh after he’s addressed her as ‘Ma’am’: “You know, do me a favor. Could you say ‘Senator’ instead of ‘Ma’am’? It’s just a thing. I worked so hard to get that title, so I’d appreciate it,” Boxer says to Walsh.

“Twenty eight years in Washington, and Barbara Boxer works hard for a title?” Fiorina says into the camera with a quick raise of her eyebrows. “I’ll really go to work — to end the arrogance in Washington.”

The Fiorina ad:

Was it worth the wait? Will it "move the dial" for Fiorina? We'll know in just a few weeks...
