New Age Doom featuring H.R. - Angels Against Angels (2026)

Angels Against Angels is another dub flavoured album from New Age Doom, this time teaming with Bad Brains singer H.R. And it's no less good than the awesome one they did with Lee Perry and Donny MacCaslin. But of course different. Again psych/jazz rock infused with a lot of dub, but this time with a rawer feel and a glorious punk assault in the middle of the album. And cool vocals by H.R.Truly addictive stuff. One of  my favourite album this year so far.

Al Cisneros vs The Bug - Rosin (2022)

From this unexpected collaboration (resulting from a tour Om did with Kevin Martin's King Midas Sound) between Al Cisneros (who was the drummer in Sleep and then Om) and The Bug aka Kevin Martin we have a near perfect instrumental dub album (4 tracks, around 20 minutes). Especially recommended if you like it with a slightly dark feel.

Fire feat Adrian Sherwood (2023)

This is a live album from Italian band Fire (I dont know much about them but now look forward to hear more) with Adrian Sherwood doing live mixing/dubbing. In case you don't know Adrian Sherwood : with his label On-U Sound he's the main non-Jamaican dub producer since the eighties up to now. The result is great jazz/electronica/dub music, warm and trippy. Great stuff!

Nat Birchall - Sounds Almighty (2018)

Here's something a lot more relaxed that your usual Blasting Days music. Nat Birchall is a dub/spiritual jazz sax player from the UK and Sounds Almighty is an album released in 2018 of best quality instrumental analogic dub (with a more live sound than on the new album Nat Birchall did with Al Breadwinner, which is more digital dub with sax part over it, another very good dub album and I enjoy it, but prefer Sounds Almighty). Sounds Almighty is probably the best dub album I heard for the last few years. Great stuff.

Babe Roots - ST (2017)

We're slowing down and get smooth with this one. Babe Roots self titled album is some excellent dub techno with invited vocalists, closer to digital dub than to techno, with also a trip-hop feel. If you'd like a dub album lighter (not on the dark/industrial side of dub) than the new Scorn or Zonal this one's really a good pick.

Sierra Leone's Refugees All Stars-Radio Salone (2012)

Something different now (I mean really different from the bands I use to review). The Sierra Leone's Refugees All Star band started to play in refugee camps in west Africa but their music breathe with sunshine and hope. What they play is a blending of Highlife, afro-beat and reggae. Radio Salone is their second LP, it's produced by Victor Axelrod (Sharon Jones, Antibalas), and if you're into african, reggae or any "feel good music" I really recommend you try it. the meeting of african ryhtms and melodies  and reggae influenced parts is interesting and works really well and it's a really enjoyable record.
