My Morning Jacket - My Morning Jacket (2021)

I've been liking My Morning Jacket for close to a quarter of a century, and their latest, self-titled, one is probably my favourite. So I think we can say they really earned their review on Blasting Days... In the meantime their music evolved from indie rock/americana to indie/soul/progressive/psych rock (now evoking band like Pink Floyd or Yes at times, and the quality remained and even improved. Highly recommended!

dEUS - How to Replace It (2023)

Now here's something quieter for a change. dEUS has a career of nearly thirty years of delivering the best quality indie rock, classy and sophisticated (in a vein not unlike Afghans Whigs or maybe Porcupine Tree). The Belgian band is back with a new album ten years after the previous one, and How to Replace It is as finely crafted and memorable as they use to be. This is not the kind of stuff I usually listen to, but dEUS is good enough to appeal to people into harder/ rawer stuff. Recommended!

Iceage - Seek Shelter (2021)

Seek Shelter
, the new album from Iceage is a bit disturbing at first (and that's why it took me so long to make up my mind and review it) because they added some indie rock/pop to their post-punk. But since their songwriting skill is still there, and the vocals are as good as usual, it works. Maybe won't stand as my favourite Iceage album, but still an excellent album that I enjoy.

Cash crop-Roar out the hiss (2012)

This first record by Cash crop went largely unnoticed up to now, and that's a pity because it deserves some attention. Roar out the hiss is their first record and it sounds both fresh and very well crafted. the californian trio plays a very dynamic punk / indie / noise rock with very good melodies  and a post-punk / hardcore / noise abrasive sound. a melting of screamo bands like Touche amore and an Unsane gone softer and a Sonic youth gone harder could maybe give an image of how it sounds. that without being really close to any of these bands. an interesting and enjoyable first record.

Timber timbre

Creep on creeping on (2011), the fourth record by Timber timbre from Canada. Ce disque est hanté. This record is like a ghost wandering beween canadian woods and une Nouvelle-Orléans révée. It sounds like a dark indie-folk meeting fifties rock at the crossroad. The first song, setting the tone of the whole record is called bad ritual and sound like a funeral procession, with the saxophone doing creepy sounds, the piano playing its cold melody and the singing being warm dark, and melancholic. And the few creepy instrumental noisy/dark interludes between the songs adds to this eerie feeling.

Here is the band official website. and here's the page with videos for some of their songs.
