Tetitanblood - From the Visceral Abyss (2025)

The fourth album from Teitanblood, From the Visceral Abyss definitely has the chaotic energy of war metal, but in a more sophisticated way than a band like Revenge, it's less raw and bestial, and the atmosphere is less pure hatred and contempt but more the burning of a dark mystical flame. In any case it's a great piece of intense and twisted evil and epic metal, recommended!

Vitriol - Suffer & Become (2024)

I remember enjoying Vitriol's first album extreme grimness and violence, but I think the new one is even better, less one dimensional. Suffer & Become will probably establish the trio from Portland among the extreme metal bands that really matters. Their ferocious black/death metal is relentless, intense and epic, with both excellent songwriting and quite technical musicianship, extreme aggression (the new drummer is doing a tremendous job) combined with good melodic lead guitars and a subtle use of synth to deepen the atmospheres. Could evoke bands like Hideous Divinity, but with a more "war metal" feel, or Behemoth (but not their slower and less inspired recent stuff...), but also Anaal Nathrakh's over the top intensity level. Highly recommended!

PISSGRAVE - Malignant Worthlessness (2025)

Malignant Worthlessness is the third PISSGRAVE album. Their trademark intensity remains (as well as their... special taste for cover art), but maybe this time their super filthy and brutal war metal has more "colder and blackmetalish" moments than previously. Solid album again anyway if you like when metal gets very raw and barbaric.

Exordium Mors - As Legends Fade and Gods Dies (2022)

As Legends Fade and Gods Dies, the second album from Exordium Mors may be not as awesome as their first one (I urge you to listen to The Apotheosis of Death), but it's another excellent one anyway, among the best recent metal releases. They polished a bit their sound, and I'm not sure it really makes it better, but it's ok, I suppose some will prefer it this way. Othersiwe they are back with another assault of epic black/death/thrash/speed, with high level songwriting skills, and old school in spirit but modern and quite technical in execution. Highly recommended!

Eggs of Gomorrh - Wombspreader (2022)

Wombspreader is the second album from Switzerland's Eggs of Gomorrh, another frantic assult of black/death/war metal, barbaric and viciously evil, in a vein reminding Arkhon Infaustus. Good stuff.

DeathEpoch - Abysmal Invocation (2020)

DeathEpoch is a new Polish duo whose first album Abysmal Invocation is a combination of war metal and dark ambient / power electronics / industrial tech. A combination that seems "natural", but that is actually quite rare. In Abysmal Invocation it works well, but maybe it would have gained if the two elements were more blended in the songs instead of a mere succession of nearly normal war metal songs (with a slight industrial feel in the guitars) and electronic/noise intros and interludes. So it's an interesting and good first try, but I'd say they should go further next time. That been said, it's a promising debut and I recommend you give it a try if you're into these kinds of sonic extremism.

Eggs of Gomorrh - Outpregnate (2019)

Outpregnate is the first album from the Swiss Eggs of Gomorrh and it's a fine piece of war/chaotic black-death metal, six tracks in 16 min closing with an Arkhon Infaustus cover that fit perfectly the music they play. Recommended if you're into this kind of metal.
