Classy cover art for a classy album. Carousel is a young band from Philadelphia, and their excellent debut album Jeweler's daughter was released last summer by the also excellent Tee pee records. I wonder why it seems that few people noticed it because it really would have deserved more attention. it has everything you love in classic heavy metal. think Judas priest, Iron maiden and Black sabbath, fused with a touch of Thin lizzy and some heavy rock boogie. faultless balance of rocking vibe and hooks. a smooth and sharp guitar sound, cool leads, excellent vocals and most importantly excellent songs. nearly each one is a heavy metal hit. they doesn't reinveint the wheel at all but their classical heavy metal sounds fresher and better than most retro bands.
you can stream it from this The obelisk (recommended blog by the way) post.
This is where I share my passion for music and support the bands I like. Expect intense, passionate, and radical stuff from this blog.

Naam - Vow (2013)
With The starchild Naam (from Brooklyn, NY) became another band that matters in the psychedelic rock scene, their sophomore records Vow, released last year by Teepee records, confirm their quality. and what's even best is that they are adding some more diversity in their music (with also a keyboardist). sometimes Vow is more spacey, sometimes it's more rock, and some melodies and some vocal lines even reminds me of NIN. they bring some fresh air to the sometimes very predictable psychedelic style. and they do it with good tatse and talent. Vow is a really enjoyable album.

Blaak heat shujaa - The edge of an era (2013)
Blaack heat shujaa is a french band now based in California. they recorded their second album called The edge of an era with Scott Reeder and released it through Tee pee records. good references then. does the music lives up to that? yes it sure does! with its trippy psychedelic elements their desert rock / stoner has extra flavours and colours that makes it more interesing than usual stoner rock. their songs develop some trippy, hypnotic melodies and grooves more than standard stoner rocking. and they do it with personnality and taste. just look at the cool cover artwork it represent well the kind of vibe they build. recommended if you like the more psychedelic side of rock.

The assemble head in sunburst sound-Manzanita (2012)
This record is called Manzanita, and indeed it is refreshing, as can be 60' influenced psychedelic rock. it's the fourth record by Assemble head in sunburst sound from San Francisco and it's been released this year by the really good Teepeerecords. Nothing new under the sun of California but it is a really nice record, quiet and warm. I don't know what to add, if you like that kind of music just try it...
