Meth Leppard - Gatekeepers (2025)

Saw Australian grind duo Meth Leppard live a few days ago (at Les Passagers du Zinc in Besançon, with promising local grinders Proudhon and Travolta from Belgium who also put up a good show) and it felt a bit like being hit by a demolition truck. Believe it or not, I enjoyed it! Vocals are a bit too uniform, but cool riffing and the drummer is a relentless beast. What about their second album, Gatekeepers? Might be the best release yet, with the inclusion of slightly more nuanced moments, while staying pure old school grind rampage.

Suffering Mind - Lifeless (2022)

 

New LP from Suffering Mind called Lifeless (released by grind powerhouse Psychocontrol Records). Side A delivers your daily dose of grindpunk, mercilessly executed, tight and with a modern sound. Side B is noise, movie samples punctuated by bursts of grind, little bits, but gaining additional impact by being hidden in the noise/samples. Another good release from Suffering Mind.

Impulsealer - 42 (2021)

Impulsealer is a Czech duo active since 2018, 42 is their fifth, and longer, release. They play some Nasum inspired grindcore. And they do it well.

Needful Things / Controlled Existence - Split LP(2021)

Good split LP between two Czech grindcore bands, Needful Things and Controlled Existence on the excellent Psychocontrol Records (a label with guys playing in Needful Things), for both bands it's a last recording with their current vocalist. Both bands are on the old school side of grind, but with a quite modern sound for Needful Things. Both are doing well in this enjoyable split in the pure grind tradition.

Fiend - Endless Demise - split (2017)

Excellent split (released by the really good grind label Psychocontrol records in 2017) between two excellent bands from the LA grind scene. 3 tracks each, 6 tracks in 5 min. both bands Fiend and Endless Demise are pure grind, going for the guts. This is a treat for anyone into grind. highly recommended.

Incinerated / Landfill - Split 7'' EP (2019)

Let's start 2020 like we ended 2019 : with some blastbeats! On the menu this nice split (released by Psychocontrol records) between Incinerated and Landfill. Ten minutes of really good grind/death. Both bands, each in its own way, sounds a bit like Repulsion but pushed to more extreme. I really enjoy it and recommended it.

Meth leppard / Blight Worms - split (2019)

Really good old school grindcore split (roughly six minutes for each sides) released by Psychocontrol Records with two Australian bands. I follow Meth Leppard since their demo in 2015 and this time again they don't disappoint. Blight Worms is another new grind band that I'm discovering with this release and they are good as well. It's this kind of split that are keeping this grind tradition much alive and exciting. Good stuff.
