Birdflesh - Extreme Graveyard Tornado (2019)

Extreme Graveyard Tornado is Birdflesh's fifth album. They are playing this Repulsion style deathgrind since the early nineties and it's clear they know very well how to do it, with catchy riffing and good grooves. Their first release since their very good split with Organ Dealer and another very enjoyable piece of deathgrind.

2017 : my grindcore list

I'll later give a general list but as is the tradition for Blasting Days I'm doing a specific list for the grindcore (and closely related stuff) releases that I enjoyed the most this year. As I'm not fond of giving ranks I'm giving it in alphabetical order (with link to my review just aside on the right, where you'll also find the links to the Bandcamp pages).

Birdflesh / Organ Dealer split (2017)

This is a truly excellent deathgrind split album, two excellent bands, the veterans Birdflesh and newcomers Organ Dealer, each one playing a different kind of grind.

Birdflesh are on the old school side of deathgrind, in a Repulsion style. With memorable riffing and grooves aplenty. Highly enjoyable.

Organ Dealer are on the modern side of deathgrind, more dense, faster and sharper. Their songs here are similar in style and quality compared to heir excellent album Visceral Infection released wo years ago.

Both bands are excelling at what they do. A split highly recommended to anyone into grind.
