Christoph de Babalon - No Favours (2024)

No Favours is my favourite among the recent Christoph de Babalon releases. A 4 tracks EP showcasing his ability to blend old school jungle and dark ambient (the "gothic jungle" tag he uses is also a good way to describe it) with great results. Recommended stuff!

Christoph de Babalon - 044 (Hilf Dir Selbst!) (EP 2021)

Third excellent EP in a row for producer from Berlin Christoph de Babalon, one every year. But I've never heard something bad from him, so it's no surprise, we can only expect high quality from the master of smart and dark jungle. And the six tracks of 044 (Hilf Dir Selbst!) are another proof. Strongly recommended.

Christoph de Babalon - Recurring Horrors (2020)

Recurring Horrors is the new album from German producer Christoph de Babalon and his "gothic jungle" is as good as always. Subtle but efficient drum & bass beats over dark atmosphere is his trademark sound, but with Recurring Horrors the mood is especially creepy. And I like it!

Christoph de Babalon / Mark - split (2020)

Christoph de Babalon was first known in the early jungle/drum & bass scene of the 90'. In recent years and made a "comeback" and managed to make his music evolve while maintaining a very high quality level and keeping the mysterious feel his tracks always have. The Mark (another producer from Berlin) side is also interesting and really good, the "Duet for melodica and claves" being exactly what its name imply, and the second tracks is its continuation with some drum & bass beats added. This split is a very nice piece of dark and smart drum & bass.
Recommended stuff!

Christoph de Babalon - Hectic Shakes (2019)

After rereleasing his works from the nineties in three compilations (heavily recommended) German producer Christoph de Babalon is releasing new music again, like this new four tracks EP Hectic Shakes. And the quality of his dark atmospheric drum'n'bass/jungle (a tag he uses is "gothic jungle", indeed...) is still there!
Excellent old school jungle beats over dark ambient synths, and with de Babalon it works really well. Interesting and good release.
