Majestic Mass - Savage Empire of Death (2018)

Majestic Mass and their first release Savage Empire of Death is another good find from caligari Records. Their garage speed metal sound a bit like a mix of Venom and The Lords of Altamont. Evil and Fun rocking. Yeah!

Oltretomba - L'Ouverture des fosses (2018)

This one's definitely scary enough for the Halloween night. Oltretomba is a funeral doom band from Marseille (France) and on their new album L'Ouverture des fosses (with the really good Caligari records) they excell at crafting horrific and mystical atmospheres, and they're doing it in an unusual way, not exactly avant-garde but different and weird, and in a good way. Really strong and interesting stuff.

Sallow Moth - Deathspore (2018)

Sallow Moth is the new death metal project of Garry Brent and the cool Caligari Records released this CD/Tape called Deathspore (around 20 minutes, can we call it an album? I don't know and I don't really care). I knew from Cara Neir that Garry Brent is a skilled songwriter, Cara Neir touched hardcore, grind, black metal, trash, whatever, and it always end up being good. So I'm not surprised at all that he's also very good at crafting old school death metal songs, taking from both the scandinavian and US school (from what I hear), d-beat, morbidangelic heaviness, etc. I really enjoy these five excellent death metal songs. Good stuff.

Sonic Poison - Harsh Demonstration (2016)

Sonic Poison is a new band from Finland which released a cool cassette (with Caligari records) called Harsh Demonstration, with which they offer a refreshing take on old school grind/death. And that's indeed a harsh demonstration, very raw stuff, I really  enjoyed this short (7 tracks, less than 10 minutes of music) blast of grind in a Repulsion vein, and any grindfreak will probably do the same. Highly recommended!
