Something Fishy About That Bird!

Hi Inky Visitors
Today I have another challenge piece for you.
This time The Stamp Man
with an 'Alter It' theme,  and seeing as it has been a while since I did any real altering I was right on the case..
In case you cant guess from the title,  I altered 2 sardine tins {washed and cleaned out first obviously} Which I coated with a rust paint effect that i've been learning from the Andy Skinners 'Timeworn Techniques' online workshop.  Your missing out if you haven't signed up, It's a great workshop.
Now my rust isn't up to par as I don't have the right sand paste stuff so it's not as textured as i'd like but overall it still gives the piece a nice grungy look. And one can only get better with practice.
I gave the bird a bit of a makeover too
The sprays and ink used didn't cover properly so I ended up with a very mottled look, but I didn't mind, it makes her kinda quirky.
To add a bit of interest in between the tins I used some vintage scrabble tiles, back and front.
Not only did it make it more visually pleasing, but was great for the stability of the piece.
 I was going to add something to the back but didn't know what so I left it.
To finish I just made it nice & homely for the wee bird with lots of lichen and twigs.

I hope you have enjoyed today's challenge piece.. Who knows, you may see me again this week with yet another one!
Till then..
Stay Inky

Borrowed Mojo!

Regular visitors to my blog will know i have been having a little mojo issue of late..
The issue being my mojo did a runner..
Now i did have a few people say they had seen it and had sent it back home but i'm guessing the mojo that arrived back here was not actually mine..
I mean just look at this piece i created for the Simon Says Stamp & Show challenge which this week has a 'Layers' theme and the Let's Get Shabby 'Music' inspired challenge.
It's all frilly and girly, a real shabby vintage kinda affair

Definitely not my mojo!!!
So who-ever this mojo belongs to i would just like to say a big thank you for letting me borrow it, I actually had great fun transforming a sad empty wafer tin into the chic pen pot it has now become.
Who's mojo will i get tomorrow i wonder!!!!

SS meets ALteR iT MonThlY

Yay... So i finally got to have a play with some of my favourite new Time stamps
 from The Artistic Stamper
I've altered an ickle tin to join in with this weeks Sunday Stamper challenge where Hels wants you to use a 'Key' on your piece.. This is also my second entry for this months 'Metal' themed Alter it Monthly challenge
I clear embossed the cogs background onto the tin, then inked it with medow and latte alcohol inks.{the same colours were used to ink the old keys}
Because this coloured the embossing powder aswell i placed some newspaper over the tin and heated it with my mini iron till the powder melted and absorbed into the paper... thus removing the it to reveal the bare tin below
I used a green sharpie pen to colour the rest of the tin. Then stuck to the 2 keys, one either side to make it into a sort of mini case.. the holes in the keys being the handles.
I decorated the inside with a grungboard alterations die cut gear and stamped piece of basic grey paper with the small cogs stamp, dusted over with some perfect pearls to give it a bit of shimmer {which you cant see in the pic unfortunatly}
 This tin will become a gift box for another piece i made that i'll share tomorrow...Hope you come back then.
Also i would just like to say I really do appricate each one of you that takes the time to visit me xx I'm just sorry i've not got around to doing much in the way of blog hopping myself.. there just arn't enough hours in the day i tall ya!

ShOCk HorRoR i ALteREd soMEtHinG

This project came about for a couple of reasons... one was that i had been set a kinda challenge to make a Stitchels Rose..{see Here for details} and being as that i hadn't partaken in the Sunday Stamper for soooo long {this week the theme being roses} i decided to have a go, i used Grungepaper for the first time too!
The other reason for the piece was that my DT position for The Artistic stamper had been seriously neglected of late, what with all the cuteness i've been caught up in lol...So i wanted to create a fun project only using all the fabby things you can find at AS online {tin excluded, although there are some other tins available}
And here's what i came up with...

The paper i used is from the old world stack of DCWV, i then stamped square wire to give it a bit more interest {my pics are a bit crappy sorry but its the brick wall looking bit i'm on about!} anyway, i then stamped Poppy Cat directly over the wall. I stamped the nature vine in versamark and dusted with some of the yummy mica pearlescent powders, i used the same mica powders mixed with a little water to cover some grungepaper, i then stamped the vine again on top and cut out the leaves and swirls and added this too the vine to add dimension.
I punched holes and attached blue eyelets at either end of my paper, wrapped it round the tin and laced it up with black ribbon.
I used the nature stamps again for the words, which i stamped with blue distress inks onto white pearl card and cut out and inked the edges.
The grungepaper roses are the Stitchels as mentioned above.
And that's your lot...
i think...
Sorry its late and i'm fairly tired but am waiting up for my dear OH to return from work.
Had a pretty full day.. well i say full coz it took me all day to create a 4 tier wedding cake gift box with i will be blogging over the weekend and to dye my hair back to a "normal" colour for the wedding.. the bride didn't want her bridesmaid to have pink hair, especially as there wearing red as the accent colour!
Hugs and thanks for stopping by xx
