Hats Off To Ya!

Monday Monday, here again and that means 2 things..
Firstly there is a new theme over at Simon Says Stamp'n'Show
AND The brand new Grungy Monday challenge starts today!
WooHoo
So firstly for my Simon Says piece
The theme this week could not be more fitting for me..
They want you to show your 'HATS'
And as luck has it I have just completed one I shall be wearing to Ally Pally in a couple of weeks time {are you going?}
I was totally inspired by one i had seen on the net somewhere, but like a plank i forgot where, luckily today the owner of that inspirational piece Sarah commented and reminded me, check out her awesome hat HERE
It's made from grungeboard and idea-ology and i've given it a steampunk theme
and it actually took me the best part of 2 days to complete..
But so worth it, came out way better than i could have hoped for,
And thought it was proper fiddly,  I feel another coming on lol
Rather than flood the blog with pics, i've put them into a slide show for you!

Thanks for stopping by.. I may be back later with my GMC if not then see you tomorrow!

Footprints...

Another week of january speeds on by, but with it brings another fabby Compendium of Curiosities challenge HERE with the lovely Linda
Page 50 this time and 'Weathered Wood Grunge'
Not quite sure why he called it that as mine doesn't look weathered or indeed like wood!!!
Still, minor details...
I made this as one of three tags for a swap i'm taking part in.
I took the sentiment as my inspiration, and i created footprints over my grunge, using gold paint dabber and my hand, once it was dry I coated the prints with matt accents.
I was going to just stick the heart to the tag but decided to make it look a little bit more interesting by eyeletting it to the tag and then threading some black cord so it looks like its held on that way.
I finished with a smidge of rock candy stickles just at the edge of the sentiment.
Right i can't stay and chat as i have 2 more tags to make.
thanks for stopping by x

2 posts in one day!!!

It's practically unheard of for me but I have been happily playing with paper and ink all afternoon so decided I would join in a couple of challenges, the following piece fits both the Lots To Do 'Ribbon/Lace' theme and the Alter It Monthly 'Musical' theme.
The base is mountboard, with 2 grungeboard hearts placed on top and then the whole thing covered in gel medium, draped with a slightly damp old music sheet {a few spritz from your mini mister should do the trick}, work the paper in around the hearts to define them taking care not to tare, use a smidge of gel medium on top to seal. Let the whole thing dry, and once hard then its time to ink.
I used barn door or was it fire brick.. anyways.. round the edge of the base, avoiding the hearts, and coloured the hearts themselves with a creamy brown chalk ink. I edged the heart and the whole piece with a gold marker. Stapled some frilly cream lace to the bottom, creating a thought ribbon from the left over bit i had and adding a heart brad to finish it. I then i found a fab quote which i typed out on my label maker and added to complete the little hanging piece.

Tin Pan Alley

Is the theme this month over at 'Alter it Monthly'
Basically they want to see anything with metal, be it tins, little cases, or in my case a piece of metal on a project.
Some of you may remember me talking about a cuff i was making..
well here it is....
It's a canvas base, overlayed with some jute ribbon and then topped with embossed TSS metal
 A button fastening
Grungboard wings behind a ferro covered TH alterations keyhole
Wrapped with TH alterations ferro covered keys either side.
I aged the gold coloured metal using some of my new hamatit coloured inka-gold.
This is a first attempt at a fabric/metal cuff and i've mixed feelings on how it's turned out...
Tell me what you think? and please be honest.
Have a fab bank holiday weekend.. think of me back to work tomorrow lol

Card Creations

I am finding it hard to produce cards, this was mainly what i did untill about a year ago when i discovered altered art and how much fun it can be. Anyway, since starting my altered journey i have found it increasingly difficult to think of ways to incorprate my inky messy side into my cardmaking. I have made a few cards reciently that i am quite happy with though, and i thought i would share them...... What do you think ?
