Grungy Monday..make that Wednesday!

Ok so i'm a couple of days late but what's a few days between friends..
Over @ Grungy Monday the lovely Linda is asking us to share our Tim Holtz Wearable Art..
Now I never need an excuse to play with the idea-ology stash and it seems like ages since I joined in with one of the challenges so I set to work..
I used an assortment of gears, swivel clasps & spinners and had a jolly good time.
I think you may just have started something Linda...lol

Oh before I go my second Wendy Vecchi offering is over on the Snazzy's DT Blog
If you love all things studio 490 then hop on over as sharing your creations could bag you a Studio 490 prize.

It Couldn't Wait...

I was going to share this next tag with you tomorrow but i'll be too late to enter it in the challenge I made it for so i'm blogging it today... {my other tags from today, you can see if you scroll down my blog}.
As well as it being another 'Grungy Monday' Tim crackle piece it's mainly my entry for
The Octopode Factory with their 'somewhere over the rainbow' challenge.
The only regrets I have with this tag is the green section.. which I wish I had thought to do yellow {for the yellow brick road} but it's one of those things that sprang to mind after I had almost finished it, also I wish I had Dorothy to use, but as I don't yet own her I made do with Alice.
But other then that I think it came out ok.. I especially love her ickle ruby red shoes done with stickles, and how her hair came out.
What do you all think?

A Bit of Tag & Crackle!

Well I had the most fun yesterday playing with tags.. something i've not done in ages.
It all started after seeing that Grungy Monday's theme was Tim's crackle resist technique.. so I hopped off to his UTube to refresh my memory and then set to work...
I wasn't 100% on my colour choice but I wanted to be in keeping with the Craft Barn's Colour wheel tag challenge and after picking a red crackle these were the split complementary colours.
The more I worked on the tag the more I was disliking it but I carried on.
I had some little pocket watch brads that were bright gold so I changed up the colour with a copic marker, being alcohol pens they work the same as your alcohol inks would.
***
Not quite satisfied with how tag 1 had come out I decided to make another,

This time with complementary colours on the wheel, and one of my fav combo's.
This one took on a bit of a steampunk twist, with the help of a couture creations embossing folder done on acetate, and plenty of Timmy gears.
If you would like to watch this second tag being made then hop on over to my recording on Ustream.
All in all a fun day's play..{in the end tag 1 grew on me and now I kinda like it}
but it didn't stop here.. I went on to make 3 more tags, 1 of which i'll share tomorrow.
Till then..

Grungy Grunge Day!

YAY another thing on my to do list completed.... I was having a play yesterday evening and came across a blank grungeboard bracelet I had pre-cut to size, so as Grungy Monday is having a 'grungeboard extravaganza' challenge I figured it was time to do something with it.
I started by giving it a coat of snow cap dabber, then coloured with peeled paint distress stain.
{waited for this to dry and re-apply more stain}
Once that was all dry I stamped a Wendy Vecchi phrase and a part-section of an Artistic Stamper brush image.  I then used forest green stazon to add some Wendy Vecchi dots, masking off the brushes first.
For the closure I used a Tim Holtz hitch fastener and a large green eyelet {which I now know to be a tad too big, but hay ho}
I matte accented the phrase and then gave the whole thing a coat of matte medium to seal.
Granted it didn't really turn out very grungy but hay that's OK.

Until next time

Grungy WOYWW Return!

OMG it feels like forever since I shared my desk with my lovely chums over at WOYWW.... think it's been nearly 2 months!!
So here I am finally fighting fit {touch wood} ready to share the mess that IS my desk
I've been getting inky to play along with this weeks Grungy Monday, where the wonderful Linda has chosen this fab technique of Tims, having fun with a mini mister! And boy did I have alot of fun.
I got a little carried away and actually made 3 cards,
The above was my first using all Tim stamps,
The second was a mix of Tim, Artistic Outpost and Wendy Vecchi stamps
And the third
A mix of Tim and Artistic Outpost.
I also made a few key-rings with some left over sprayed card but i'll share them another day.
I have a feeling I shall be making a fair few more using this technique.
I have one more nights work so if I don't get round to your blog today I hope to make it round by the weekend x

Grungy Saturday/ Mojo Monthly!

Woo Hoo.. Finally I get to re-join in with Grungy Monday's all be it a bit late this week.. I had a few teething troubles to start {in that everything I touched went horribly wrong}, so I left it a few days and finally my brain kicked back into mojo flow and I created this ickle offering after watching the master at work of course.
I re-used the mini canvas that was one of my naff efforts by just ripping the canvas off it so I was just left with the wooden frame, I inked the wood with expresso and stonewashed alcohol ink,  I then backed it with book page mounted on card.
I inked a domino with the same colours and then stamped one of my new Artistic Outpost images in blue stazon. I also used the blue round the edges of the frame to give it a nice finish.
Not the most elaborate project i've ever done but i'm happy with it after all the disasters that occurred before it lol
As 'hinted' by the lovely Sarah, I am also sharing my piece over @ my mojo monthly
A fantastic place to be inspired and also to try and help inspire others.

Day late Grungy Monday!

Ok so the preparations for the fair are going fairly well but I just had to take a little break from the intense owl making! It's amazing just how much work it takes to get ready for a fair!! Who Knew!
Still it's all an experience and all part of my journey.
Anyways, enough with my waffle, what I was trying to get at is I took time out yesterday to have a little skype session with Ali and decided to play along with Grungy Monday as I had missed last weeks being so busy and all!
I had so much fun with Tim's technique I actually made a grand total of 4 cards, but today I'll be sharing the first one I made
I used the gorgeous 'agapanthus long' stamp from stampendous, and as I don't own any of the adirondack dye ink pads I used my memento's and they worked brilliantly.
I also used a penny black butterfly and one of Tim's sayings.
I'll blog the rest of my cards throughout the week.
Right back to the grindstone for me!

Grungy Friday 13th!

Before you all go on about friday the 13th being unlucky, I'll stop you right there, I don't believe it, It's a lucky day, Today especially as it's my Mum's Birthday
Happy Birthday Mummy x Love you xx
Seems these past few weeks i've managed to be grungy on every day but a monday!
But hay it's the taking part that counts right, no matter what day!
So here is my late offering for this weeks Grungy Monday
The prompt is taken from Tims 12 tags of Christmas 2007 day 8
I did the effect on my tag using snowcap dabber and victorian velvet distress ink, and I backed my tag with some grey textured card to highlight the word I had cut out using one of Tim's fab dies.
I embellished with a rosette topped with an spun sugar stained fabric rose, and some glassine elements.
Thanks for hopping by, Hopefully blogger will now behave itself after all the problems of the past few days!

Grungy Thursday!!

I seem to be getting later and later with my entries for
Grungy Monday!
I must admit I struggled a bit this week, Tim's instructions were clear enough but I just couldn't get to grips with it. I did try and make something on monday but it went in the bin!
Luckily my crafty chum Alison was on hand yesterday via skype to inspire me on and we both managed to get our pieces finished.
Here is my offering...
I used a mix of retro grunge paper and TSS metal, along with the Papillon stamp set and an MS butterfly punch. I adorned it with a grunge rose, some trinket pins and a sari ribbon with dangle.
Thank you Ali for the motivation.. Wonder what we'll get done today!

Grungy Wednesday!

OK so I know it's supposed to be Grungy Monday, but I just wasn't feeling it on monday!
And if i'm totally honest I wasn't feeling it when I made it yesterday either but I think thats just the way it goes sometimes.
Anywho.. Here it is, my offering for week 4's 'Texture Fades and Distress' challenge
I used the sunburst texture fade with spiced marmalade and barn door with a smidge of mustard seed over the top, Umbrella man is diecut from mountboard and than stamped with the text from the papillon set. The quote is one from the quotegarden that I printed out and then diecut using a small label's 8 nestie.
It's not really my usual sort of card which I think is why i'm not feelin it, but it may grow on me!

Craft Room, Oh How I Missed You!

OMG I have been itching to get back to my craftroom since Ally Pally and yesterday I finally managed it, Oh how happy was I, like a pig in S*@t I can tell ya lol
I played from first thing in the morning to late into the afternoon, and some of the evening too!
I had a couple of challenges I really wanted to take part in so I combined them
Grungy Monday 'Color Washes'
I sprayed the frame with red pepper, I also sprayed the roses on the art part dress form.
 The Stamp Man 'Embossing'
I used vinny the vagabond to emboss some red pepper core'dinations card with the regal flourish folder.
Just coz the whole piece is kinda distressed and shabby!
I used the smallest rosette and some trinket pins for the wording.
And you an just about see the very faint crackle created using the lush new fresco paints
For some reason it didn't crack like it should but I'm thinking it's more operator issues then the paint lol, I definitely need more practice! And on that note I'm away to play some more xx

The Wait Is Over !!

Finally the new challenge run by the ever so wonderful Linda is here to replace the void that the compendium  left behind.
as she's named it is all about Lord Tim of Holtz and his awesome products and techniques..
***
To to celebrate the very first challenge I made my tag accordingly...
I used a antique linen/heirloom gold spritz mix, but the masking kinda faded away when i added the top coat of stormy sky
I remembered I had cut Tim out from one of my many metal case packagings
and thought now was the perfect time to use it up.
I cut him out and added a little perfect pearls to his hair and shirt.

I glitzed him up with some painted grunge stars.
And what lord wouldn't be without a crown!
I have a feeling i am so going to enjoy each and every monday from now on!
