Christmas Flora

Christmas Flora

Hello There!

We've made it into December!
Woohoo!  Not long to go now...

Have you opened your Advent
Calendars? How exciting....!

Angela Radford is here today
with a tree ...........

"Hi all. Angela here to show you this really
quirky Christmas tree card, using Elenazinski
stamps (PaperArtsy). Hope you like it.

Spread some Distress Oxides onto a craft
mat and pull a sheet of watercolour card
 through it.

 Dry between applications.

I couldn't make my mind up about the colours
so made two backgrounds and used a Kay Carley
Christmas stencil to decorate the card blank.

Christmas tree and bauble stamps next
ready to colour and cut out.

Used the holly stamp next to put a little more
detail to the background using the second
generation colour by stamping on waste
paper and then onto the card.

This may look a bit crazy as I have stamped
all the detail ready to attach the sections
when coloured.

By doing it this way you have the fine
lines of the baubles string and ground lines
for the trees and only need to cut out the
main sections.

I edged the card at this stage too.
The border stamp is from a set by
JOFY 06 (PaperArtsy).

Attach the baubles first.

Then add the trees.

Apply the stickles glitter glue next.

Layer the finished design onto coloured
card of your choice and attach it to the
card blank.

And here is a slight variation in colours.

Hope you enjoyed watching me make these
cards and maybe it's given you some inspiration
 for your own.

Happy crafting, Angela xXx

Mechanical Greetings

Mechanical Greetings

Hi Everyone!

Brrr!  It is getting chilly out
there now.   Time to snuggle
up to the fire............. should
have bought some muffins
(the ones that are a bit like
pancakes of course).

Now when I say mechanical
greetings I probably mean
kinetic greetings but either
way movement is involved!

To start us off, Angela Radford
has come with a greeting card
that is just right for the
mantelpiece ...........

Hi all, Angela here to show you one
of my favourite ways of getting
 movement in my cards.

I started with a sheet of watercolour paper
but lightweight card would work too.

Use your distress inks on a craft mat and
smoosh the card through it until you
 get a light coverage.

Once this was dry I used a Paper Artsy Christmas
stencil by Kay Carley with several colours of
Distress Oxides.

Looks okay but I just couldn't resist adding more!

So clear Gel medium next through
the same stencil and allow it to dry.

Now at this stage I could not decide on the
colours I wanted to use so cut the paper
into two and then added the colours with
Distress Oxides.

Splatter water over the colour and
allow to activate and dab off.

And here are the two samples.

If you buff the card a little the gelled
areas will show up more.

I couldn't resist it! One more technique:

Splatter thinned paint onto the surface
 and allow it to dry.

At this stage I folded the front of a card blank
to make a Z fold card and layered this with
the Masterboard and matching coloured card.

You will also need a piece of card for the front
slightly smaller than the size of your chosen
 card blank.

This front section is not completed
at this stage as can be seen below.

Now for the fun part using the Elenazinski
Christmas set 19.

Stamp these onto card and heat emboss
with clear embossing powder.

 How cute are they?!

Next the colouring.
I like to use watercolour pencils for this.

When these were dry I also added
glaze to the eyes.

Now cut three strips of clear acetate and
attach three of the figures to this and the
other two on each side of the front section.

I also stamped the sentiment at this stage.

Turn the front section over and attach
the acetate strip to the back with the
stamped figures facing you.

Turn this over and bend the acetate
towards you. Use a bone folder to smooth
the acetate into position and then it
can be mounted onto the white card
and attached to the front.

And here is the finished card.

It only takes a little draught to make
these little guys wobble which I just love.

A side view of the Christmas family
 sending their sentiment.

Hope you enjoyed watching me make
this fun card xXx

Such a fun card!  Thank you
so much Angela

I could just see them bobbing about
on my mantelpiece ......... you
have to hand it to PaperArtsy, they
come up trumps every time ....

Up The Wall

Up The Wall

Hallo everyone!

Hope your week continues well
Expect you're looking forward
to the weekend - well, here's a
fun project for you from
Louise Thomson

"I started with a watercolour card tag and
blended distress inks over it in scattered straw
and fossilized amber.

Next I taped down my brick stencil and
blended over fired brick and pumice stone inks.

With the stencil removed I added in a selection
of plants from Card-io’s backyard blooms stamp set,
all stamped in mowed lawn distress ink.

I added the spiders web in amongst the plants
using black versa colour ink,
then used a black fineliner to join up the
 loose ends of the web.

I die cut a strip of grass and then trimmed
the off cut so I could use that too,
to make two different grassy outlines.

One piece I coated in mowed lawn ink,
the other I left the original green.

These were then added to the bottom of the tag.

I also added in a few creepy crawlies…
(see how many you can spot…!)

Finally I edged the tag by running the f
ired brick ink pad directly around the edge
of it and finished off with a few
coordinating ribbons from my stash."

Materials used;
Distress inks  (scattered straw, fossilized amber, fired brick, pumice stone, mowed lawn)
Green paper and ribbons (from stash)

Great tag Louise, thank you

Such fun with all the little critters
