SensatioNail Blue Yonder Review & Foil Stamping

It's been a while since I wanted to try my hand at foil stamping. There was always a reason why to postpone it, but I finally went ahead :) I read in several places that foil works better with gel polish top coats, therefore I chose to match it with a beautiful blue gel polish base.

Há já algum tempo que queria experimentar carimbar com foil. Mas havia sempre um entrave qualquer que me fazia adiar a experiência. Mas eis que finalmente me decidi, e o ponto fulcral foi saber que foil funciona mellhor com top coat verniz gel; então combinei-os.

I'm referring to SensatioNail Blue Yonder. This is a dark, vampy shimmery blue that is so my cup of tea! *.* Surprisingly, it's also quite pigmented and covers nails in two coats. I experienced no shrinking or pooling. Blue Yonder has everything to be perfect... except it stains, bad! Below is a picture of the stain  just after removal :/ However, it isn't impossible to get back to healthy looking nails.

Refiro-me ao verniz gel SensatioNail Blue Yonder. Este é aquele tipo de azul que sempre me seduz, por mais parecidos que tenha na colecção :p É um azul profundo, algo vampy, com shimmer azul. Para minha surpresa verifiquei que o Blue Yonder é bem pigmentado e cobre as unhas com duas camadas (se bem que a primeira questionou este quesito). Também não escorreu para as cutículas. Em suma, perfeito... ou quase! Imaginem a minha cara quando tirei o verniz e vi como mancha?? Pois, algo a melhorar se bem que não é impossível corrigir isto :/

EDIT: After talking to the brand about this stain, I was informed that 1) I could have had a body reaction with the pigment of the gel polish or 2) my nails weren't hydrated before application. I'm inclined to the latest because I normally don't hydrate nails with cuticle oils and such before application (only after), so this is my mistake. Plus, I tried again with hydrated nails and guess what? NO stain! :D So girls, do moisturize your nails! :) One last thing, if some stain remains, it comes out easily using the pink side of the buffer that comes with the SensatioNail Starter Kit.

EDIÇÃO: Conversei com a marca sobre este verniz gel manchar as unhas e foi-me dito o seguinte: possivelmente a mancha deveu-se a 1) o meu organismo reagiu mal com o pigmento do verniz gel ou 2) as minhas unhas não estavam hidratadas. Pois bem, tenho a certeza que foi o segundo! Raramente hidrato as unhas antes de aplicar verniz (só depois) de modo esta aplicação não foi excepção. Decidi experimentar novamente este SensatioNail e verifiquei que NÃO manchou! :D Então chicas, hidratem bem as unhas antes de as pintar! ;) Por último, se ficar alguma mancha, esta sai facilmente com a parte rosa da lima fornecida no kit de iniciação da SensatioNail.

Unaware of the stain, I was very happy with my nail art, though it didn't turn out perfect. I was too lazy to do a stamping decal such as Eleonora demonstrated in her video tutorial, hence I quickly applied foil over my silver stamp in the nail. Not so easy as it sounds because I found out not all silver polishes work... Also, the foil didn't adhere to the entire paisley design as intended. Regardless, the silver foil finish was also quite eye catching and gorgeous, The paisley design belongs to Lesly LS-107 plate, stamped with Barry M Silver Foil Effects. I bought this silver foil from Catherine and protected it with SensatioNail Base & Top Coat. The white gel polish is Revel Nail Honor.

Apesar de não ter ficado perfeita, fiquei contente com a minha tentativa de carimbar com foil (desconhecia que por baixo as minhas unhas estavam azuis). A Eleonora fez um tutorial demonstrando esta técnica, mas como preguiçosa que sou não quis fazer o decal; então, basicamente carimbei o desenho de cornucópias nas unhas e de imediato apliquei o foil. A coisa não correu lá muito bem porque 1) descobri que nem todos os vernizes prata funcionam e 2) o foil não aderiu ao desenho no seu total. Mas ficou bastante chamativo e engraçado, de modo que gostei mesmo sabendo que há por onde melhorar :) O desenho  pertence à placa Lesly LS-107 e foi carimbado com o verniz Barry M Silver Foil Effects. O foil, por sua vez, comprei no stand da Catherine na In Beauty, sendo que o protegi com o top coat SensatioNails Base & Top Coat. O verniz gel branco é o Revel Nail Honor.

Overall, I was very pleased with both the blue color and the nail art... But the stain scares me. Do you own this gel polish? Did it stain your nails too? Have you tried foil stamping? Kisses,

SensatioNail Starter Kit Review - Part III: Removal & 14 Day Durability Test

Today I'm here to share with you the final third part review of the SensatioNail Gel Polish Starter Kit. Be sure to check part I dedicated to application and part II, where you see my nails 7 days after beginning the durability test. If you remember, the durability test finished right when I was moving to a new house. So first, lets focus on it.

Hoje quero partilhar convosco a última parte da revisão do Kit de Iniciação em Verniz Gel da marca SensatioNail. A parte I foi dedicada à aplicação e conteúdo; a parte II foi por sua vez dedicada ao teste de durabilidade findos 7 dias. Recordo que terminei o teste de durabilidade exactamente quando estava a mudar de casa. Portanto, vamos começar por aí.

Durability Test / Teste de Durabilidade

Below are my nails 14 days after starting the test. The huge growth line that by then really concerned me haha I guess I'm not used to it. Aside from it, there was also some minor chips but nothing concerning because it looked like tip wear. The shine remained very noticeable and glossy as day one; I experience no dullness at all. Also, my nails still felt very strong. It was after this picture that we moved and assembled our furniture... now that ruined my gel polish since I wasn't careful as I had been so far. I performed the durability test with my breast cancer awareness manicure for 2014.

Podem observar na foto abaixo as minhas unhas depois de 14 dias a realizar o teste de durabilidade. Por esta altura a linha de crescimento já me estava a incomodar hehe. Além disto, tinha algumas pequenas lascas nas unhas que praticamente se confundiam com o desgaste normal. O brilho, por sua vez, permaneceu espectacular como no dia um e não verifiquei nenhum desgaste da cor. Também sentia as unhas fortes e resistentes. Depois destas fotos, tomei a liberdade de ser menos cuidadosa com as unhas, uma vez que foi a altura de transportar e montar os móveis. Digamos que basicamente arruinei todo o verniz gel :p Efectuei o teste de durabilidade com a manicure escolhida para a consciencialização do cancro da mama 2014.

Removal / Remoção

Next are the steps required to remove the SensatioNail gel polish and below my own experience:

1. Buff the shine of the nails with the grey side of the buffer;
2. Saturate the SensatioNail Gel Polish Removal Wrap pads with acetone. Wrap foil tightly around the finger with pads to lock the natural heat;
3. Allow 10 to 15 minutes for the acetone to lift the gel polish of the nail;
4. Remove pads. Use the SensatioNail Gel Polish Removal Tool to gently take off the remaining gel polish off the nails;
5. To remove any residue for a healthy finish, gently buff your nails with the pink side of the buffer.

I did exactly as mentioned. After 10 minutes, almost the entire gel polish was lifted and gone. The middle nail required more 3 minutes removal. I was actually a bit worried because many people told me that SensatioNail gel polish adheres very well to the nail and can take more time to remove. I experienced the adherence, but not the long removal time - lucky me! :)

Os passos necessários para remover o verniz gel SensatioNail encontram-se descritos abaixo, seguindo-se a minha opinião e experiência: 

1. Limar levemente as unhas com a parte cinzenta da lima;
2. Saturar os Pads SensatioNail Gel Polish Removal Wrap com acetona e envolvê-los nas unhas com papel de alumínio de modo a reter o calor natural;
3. Esperar cerca de 10-15 minutos enquanto a acetona penetra no verniz gel;
4. Remover os pads e se necessário, utilizar o palito de laranjeira SensatioNails para gentilmente remover o restante verniz gel;
5. Para remover qualquer resíduo restante e para um look saudável, limar levemente as unhas com a parte rosa da lima.

Efectuei a remoção como descrito acima. Ao fim de 10 minutos verifiquei que quase todo o gel tinha sido removido, com excepção de um pedaço na unha do meio. Voltei a colocar o pad embebido em acetona e findos 3 minutos, a remoção estava concluída. Na verdade, estava um tanto preocupada com esta parte... Diversas pessoas disseram-me que o verniz gel SensatioNail tem grande aderência às unhas, de modo que a sua remoção é mais demorada. Felizmente constatei a aderência, mas a remoção foi pouco demorada :)

I hope that this review series has been helpful to you out there who are looking to purchase a Home gel polish system which offers the same salon qualities. SensatioNail Starter Kit Review - Part II: 7 Days Durability Test

Today I bring you part two of the SensatioNail Starter Kit review. Remember the first part? In in there was a bit of brand info, kit contents as well as explanation of all steps required for the correct gel polish application. If everything went well, then 7 days later my nails had to look perfect. Are you curious? Lets see them!

Hoje trago-vos a segunda parte da revisão do Kit de Iniciação de verniz gel SensatioNail. Recordam-se da primeira parte? Nela foquei o passos de aplicação, o conteúdo do kit e alguma informação sobre a marca. Nesta, quero mostrar-vos o teste de durabilidade ao fim de 7 dias! Estão curiosas? Então vamos lá ver!

Yep, 7 days later my nails look great!! :D In truth, there's only a small rhinestone missing hehehe. Allow me to remind you that during the SensatioNail Starter Kit gel polish durability test it was houe moving time around here, so I was doing lots of packaging around day 7. Overall, my nails were thick, strong and the shine was the same as day one - great! :) This was my breast cancer awareness manicure, you can check all the details here.

Passados 7 dias, a manicure estava espectacular!! :D Na verdade, o único senão é a ausência de uma pequena pedra no laço. Recordo-vos que fiz mudanças de casa durante o período de teste do Kit de Iniciação de verniz gel SensatioNail, de modo que por volta do dia 7 estava atarefada a empacotar caixas. No geral, as minhas unhas estavam fortes e o brilho pareceu-me idêntico ao do dia um! :) Esta foi a minha nail art de consciencialização do cancro da mama, podem ver todos os detalhes aqui.

I was so busy I didn't mind the nail growth at all! Plus, I was delighted to have no nail chipping or lifting :) In my opinion, the 7-day trial period went well and the gel polish performed as stated by the brand. Now, how about 14 days after? Estava tão ocupada que nem me importei com a visível linha de crescimento . Aliás, estava bastante contente por não ter nenhuma lasca nem o verniz gel levantar hehehe :) Na minha opinião, o teste de durabilidade de 7 dias correu da melhor forma possível e exactamente como a marca referiu. SensatioNail Taupe Tulips Review & Feather Nail Art

How are you?? :) After a full week hiatus, I'm so pleased to be back - I missed you! I was expecting to be away for like 3 days... but clearly, I have very few experience in moving lol. Anyway, I'm now settled in and have lots to share with you in the upcoming days :) Today, I decided to share my first feather nail art! It is this weeks challenge in ANS and I really wanted to try my hand and used SensatioNail Taupe Tulips as base.

Como estão babes?? :) Depois de uma semana ausente do blog, confesso que estava cheia de saudades! Esperava ester fora durante algo como 3 dias... mas claramente que tenho pouca experiência em mudar de casa hahaha! :p Mas agora sim, já estou instalada e com muito pela frente para partilhar com suas excelências :) Para hoje temos uma nail com penas (a minha primeira!) pois é o tema do desafio desta semana do grupo ANS, que complementei com o verniz gel SensatioNail Taupe Tulips.

I picked a gel polish as base because I'm not using real feathers, hence I thought it would be easier to place and smooth them. Sensationail Taupe Tulips was a desire of mine as soon as I saw it! You know I love nude polishes, but I had a hunch this one would be perfect for my skintone. I'm glad to say it is! :D I applied it as previously described by the brand. SensatioNail Taupe Tulips has a creme taupe color with brown undertones. It's a bit sheer and therefore I applied three thin coats to fully cover my nails. There was no shrinking or pooling :)

Escolhi verniz gel como base porque pensei que facilitaria o processo de adesão das penas à unha. O escolhido foi o SensatioNail Taupe Tulips. Porquê? Ora, porque combina com as ditas hahaha e além disso, é lindo! Agora a sério, apaixonei-me por este verniz gel assim que o vi... não é segredo que gosto de vernizes nudes pois não? :p Aqui o SensatioNail Taupe Tulips tem um tom creme taupe com subtons castanhos. A formula não é muito pigmentada, de modo que precisei de aplicar três camadas para cobrir as unhas (apliquei seguindo estes passos). O verniz gel não encolheu nem escorreu para as cutículas :)

I got the feathers from an old dress belt I found when moving. Applying them was a challenge! I had to press the feathers with an orange stick while curing them in the LED lamp because they aren't flexible. I think each nail has like three coats of SensatioNail Base & Top Coat to hold them in place hahaha. Also, placement in the index finger isn't as neat as I hoped for, but ah well... For the birds & cage nail art, I stamped them from MoYou Landscape 01 plate using Mundo de Uñas Brown polish.

A minha ideia era encontrar/comprar penas verdadeiras... mas durante a mudança encontrei um cinto velho com penas de um vestido branco da Bershka. Não pensei duas vezes e arranquei algumas penas :p Mas colocá-las nas unhas foi um desafio! Como são artificiais, não são muito flexíveis... então tive que usar um palito para empurrá-las contra a unha ao mesmo tempo que curavam na lâmpada LED. Se não me engano, cada unha tem três camadas do SensatioNails Base & Top Coat hahahah! Depois de curadas, cortei e limei os cantos. Mesmo assim, não fiquei muito satisfeita com o posicionamento da pena do dedo indicador. Para complementar as penas, tinha de ter pássaros, certos? Pois então carimbei-os, juntamente com a gaiola, da placa MoYou Landscape 01 com o verniz castanho da Mundo de Uñas.

Overall I really loved the outcome! :D I have to repeat Taupe Tulips again, as well as finding real feathers to attempt this look once more :p Have you tried feathers nail art?? How did you do it? Kisses,

Sensationail Pink Chiffon Gel Polish Review & Breast Cancer Awareness Nail Art

Hello sweethearts! :)

Earlier this week I posted the first part review of the Sensationail Starter Kit. The Starter Kit gel polish color that I chose was Sensationail Pink Chiffon. Like I mentioned, I want to redeem myself of not yet doing a breast cancer awareness manicure. Therefore, the one you will see today will last for two weeks! :)

No início desta semana publiquei a primeira parte da minha review do Kit de Iniciação de verniz gel Sensationail. A cor do kit que escolhi é o Pink Chiffon e como mencionei anteriormente, fiz com ele uma nail art de consciencialização do cancro da mama como forma de me redimir pelo facto de ainda não ter feito nada (estou a usar esta nail art por duas semanas!) :)

Lets talk about Sensationail Pink Chiffon gel polish, which I applied just like proposed by the brand. At first, I found the brush to be very small but soon changed my opinion. Its round and soft, allowing a controlled application near the cuticles (particularly in pinky). I like it, although I prefer flat brushes. Formula wise, Pink Chiffon is a sheer milky pink; I experienced no pooling or shrinkage. In the index & middle fingers I applied four thin coats of Pink Chiffon; in the ring finger & pinky three coats. Clearly four coats is the best for full nail coverage since you can see some bald spots on pinky & ring finger. However, this didn't trouble me because I knew I was going to do some nail art afterwards. I finished with a coat of Sensationail Base & Top Coat and noticed the beautiful shine it provided! So far it is lasting, but that's a subject for another post! ;) I'm moving to a knew place at the end of this month (yey!) and because of that, I applied a coat of acrygel underneath Pink Chiffon; this is the reason why the gel polish looks thick! In my right hand I didn't apply acrygel therefore I can see it isn't thick at all! :)

Vamos conversar sobre o Sensationail Pink Chiffon :) Apliquei-o seguindo os passos recomendados pela marca, indicados no primeiro post. O pincel é pequeno e redondo e por isso pensei que não ia gostar... mas rapidamente mudei de ideias porque permite controlar bem a aplicação do verniz gel junto das cutículas. Tenho preferência por pincéis achatados, mas gostei deste. A nível de formula, esta é pouco pigmentada e tem aquele acabamento rosa cremoso leitoso. Não verifiquei encolhimento nem escorrimento para as cutículas do verniz gel Pink Chiffon, mas a verdade é que tudo isto é evitável se aplicarem camadas fininhas. Apliquei três camadas nos dedos mindinho e anelar, e quatro camadas nos dedos indicador e meio. É claramente notório que quatro camadas é o ideal para cobrir uniformemente a unha pois pode-se verificar pontos "carecas" nas duas unhas com três camadas. Mas isto não me incomodou porque sabia que ia posteriormente fazer uma nail art. Pelas fotos parece que o Sensationail Pink Chiffon fica espesso nas unhas, mas não se deixem enganar! A verdade é que como vou mudar de casa até ao fim do mês, não quis correr riscos e apliquei uma camada de acrygel nesta mão para proteger as unhas; já a mão direita tem só o verniz Pink Chiffon :p

About the breast cancer awareness manicure, I just knew I wanted to incorporate a bow in it somehow! I have these huge recently bought bows... but I was too scared I'd loose one whilst moving card boxes around hehe :p So, rhinestones bow it is! I picked two different sized silver rhinestones plus small silver beads and placed them carefully over a teeny drop of gel top coat. I love the outcome! Then, of course I had to use the breast cancer design from Bundle Monster BM321 plate! :) Stamped in white with Dashica White polish. Finally, I draw some silver hearts and then used acrylic foil on top of it. This was my first foil experience and I can't wait to play more with it! :D (used Catherine foil and foil glue). I finished everything with a coat of Sensationail Gel Base & Top Coat.

Sabia que ia de alguma forma incorporar um laço na manicure de consciencialização do cancro da mama. Comprei recentemente uns laços enormes super giros... mas fiquei com medo de perder algum enquanto movesse caixas de um lado e outro, por isso decidi criá-lo com rhinestones! :p Seleccionei dois tamanhos de strass prata e esferas de nail art prata (qual o nome disto em português gente?). Coloquei cada peça uma a uma, sobre uma gota pequena de top coat gel e depois curei na lâmpada LED para selar as peças no seu lugar. No dedo do meio carimbei o símbolo do cancro da mama da placa Bundle Monster BM321, que não podia deixar de usar! Já no dedo indicador, realizei a experiência de brincar com foil pela primeira vez. Desenhei vários corações prata e depois apliquei o foil prata da Catherine, utilizando a cola para foil também da Catherine. Adorei, mal posso esperar para brincar mais com isto! :p Finalmente terminei tudo com uma camada do Sensationail Base & Top Coat :)

So, what is the Sensationail Starter Kit content? It comes with everything we need to start doing our own nails at home. It provides a shiny and strong manicure that will last up to two weeks. The kit contents are estimated to provide you with 10 perfect applications. Lets see inside!

• Sensationail LED Pro 3060 Lamp, which will cure your gel color to a damage-free and glossy shine. When on, the blue light will last for 60s but it also gives a beep at 30s;
• Sensationail Gel Polish Color (3.69 ml) (Pink Chiffon, Raspberry Wine and Scarlet Red are available)
• Double-sided small nail file, manicure stick and 12 lint-free wipes;
• Sensationail Gel Cleanser (14.6 ml) to both clean your natural nail during prep and remove the tacky gel polish layer. It has a very easy & practical opening; 
• Sensationail Gel Primer (3.54 ml) which will improve the adhesion of the gel polish to your natural nail;
• Sensational Gel Base & Top Coat (3.69 ml), which will both protect your gel color a well as give it a long lasting shine and damage-free, strong finish;
• Instructions leaflet.

I must admit I find the small bottles to be super cute and adorable, but my storage complex kills me when I try to store them near huge bottles hahaha. My home isn't perfect at cleaned up at all times, but trust me my polishes are! :p

Qual o conteúdo do Kit de Iniciação Sensationail? Este trás tudo o que é necessário para fazer 10 manicures em casa, com um resultado brilhante e resistente por duas semanas! Vamos ver:

• Lâmpada Sensationail LED Pro 3060 que possibilita curar o verniz gel com um acabamento resistente e brilho glossy. Quando ligada, a lâmpada emite luz azul azul por 60s, mas também emite um sinal sonoro aos 30s;
• Verniz Gel Sensational (3.69 ml) (estão disponíveis três tons nos kits de iniciação: Pink Chiffon, Raspberry Wine e Scarlet Red);
• Lima pequena com dois lados, pau de laranjeira e 12 toalhitas;
• Sensationail Gel Cleanser (14.6 ml) que permite tanto limpar as unhas naturais de resíduos, bem como remover a camada húmida do gel. Tem uma abertura bastante prática;
• Sensationail Gel Primer (3.54 ml), cujo objectivo é melhorar a adesão do verniz gel à unha natural;
• Sensationail Gel Base & Top Coat, produto que permite tanto proteger o verniz gel como dar-lhe maior durabilidade, resistência e brilho;
• Folheto de instruções.

Tenho de admitir que acho os frasquinhos pequeninos super adoráveis e fofos, mas o meu TOC de arrumação não coopera hehehe (frascos pequenos não combinam com frascos grandes!) :p A minha casa não está sempre organizada (quero uma empregada!), mas lá os vernizes estão!

Application / Aplicação

Like I mentioned before, you have everything available in the kit. Fear not, your four nail of each hand fit perfectly and then you cure the thumbs. Let's check the application procedure of Sensationail Gel Polish (bare in mind that this is the same application to any Sensationail gel color you purchase):

1. Prep your nails: remove any polish, wash, file and gently buff the natural bed;
2. Use a Lint-Free wipe and clean nails with the Sensational Gel Cleanser;
3. Apply one layer of Sensationail Gel Primer to nail and let dry (be carefull not to touch cuticles);
4. Apply a thin layer of the Sensationail Gel Base & Top coat, be sure to cap the nail free edge and avoid skin and cuticles. Cure in Led Lamp for 30s;
5. Apply a thin layer of the Sensationail Gel Color (Pink Chiffon in my case), cap the nail tip, avoid skin and cuticle and cure for 60s;
6. Repeat step 5 until the gel color is uniform;
7. Apply a thin layer of Sensationail Gel Base & Top Coat; cap the free edge, avoid cuticles and skin and cure for 30s;
8. Finally, remove the moisture layer with a Lint-Free Wipe soaked in the Sensationail Gel Cleanser. You're good to go!

Como referi acima, tudo o que precisamos para uma correcta aplicação vem incluída no kit. Mas vamos então ver quais os passos recomendados pela marca (são os mesmos para qualquer verniz gel Sensationail):

1. Começar por preparar as unhas: remover quaisquer resíduos de verniz, lavar as mãos, limar as unhas e gentilmente limar a superfície da unha com o buffer;
2. Limpar a unha natural com uma toalhita embebida em Sensationail Gel Cleanser;
3. Aplicar uma camada do Sensationail Primer e deixar secar ao ar (não tocar na pele);
4. Aplicar uma camada fininha do Sensationail Base & Top Coat, não tocar nas cutículas com o produto, selar a extremidade da unha e curar na lâmpada LED durante 30s; 
5. Aplicar uma camada fina do verniz gel Sensationail sem tocar nas cutículas, selar a extremidade da unha e curar na lâmpada LED por 60s;
6. Repetir o passo 5 até que a cor do verniz gel esteja uniforme;
7. Aplicar uma camada fina do Sensationail Base & Top Coat, não tocar nas cutículas, selar a extremidade das unhas e curar na lâmpada LED por 30s;
8. Por fim, remover a camada de humidade com uma toalhita embebida no Gel Cleanser et voilá!

I followed each step mentioned and already started a wear test with Sensationail Pink Chiffon for the next two weeks. When I hit the 7 day mark, I will post and update of how my nails will look then. Now, as you know, October is the month dedicated to Breast Cancer Awareness and the color which represents it is pink. Since I haven't done anything yet, I thought I'd redeem myself with Sensationail Pink Chiffon. Therefore, this week I will publish more pictures of this gel polish as well as my nail art :) In the meantime, here's a couple from day one:

Segui cada um dos passos mencionados e já comecei o meu teste de durabilidade com o verniz gel Sensationail Pink Chiffon, no sentido de compreender se o verniz gel permanece em condições nas duas semanas indicadas pela marca. Quando atingir 7 dias vou fazer um post de actualização para que vocês vejam o estado das minhas unhas nessa altura ;) Como sabem (ou deviam saber chicas!), o mês de Outubro é dedicado à consciencialização do cancro da mama e a cor que o representa é o rosa. Como ainda não fiz nada para suportar esta causa, decidi redimir-me com o Pink Chiffon. Deste modo, ainda esta semana vou publicar a minha opinião sobre o verniz gel em questão, bem como uma nail art linda! :p Entretanto, eis algumas fotos do verniz gel Pink Chiffon no dia 1:
