Dead Low Tide @ Bluebird Theatre, Denver CO, 2002-03-31

 

Dead Low Tide formed after the breakup of the Murder City Devils back in 2001.  Dead Low Tide was Spencer Moody, Cody Willis, and Nate Manny from MCD & Mike Kunka from God Head Silo and Enemymine.   They only ever released one album and one 7 inch single in the 2 years they were together.    

I was lucky enough to catch them live twice.  Once at the 15th Street Tavern in summer of 2002.  That show is posted here.

The first time thought was this March of 2002 show when the played with  Pleasure Forever, Sparta, and Thursday at the Bluebird.  We were probably hanging out across the street and missed the beginning of Dead Low Tide's set that night.  I managed to record the last 17 minutes of it though and it sounds pretty good.  There aren't very many DLT recordings out there so I decided to share this one too.

We caught DLT and watched most of Sparta then we decided that we could probably make it up to Boulder to catch Coalesce at Tulagi's.   We made it just in time to see them too.  Fun night.

I know I traded this out on CDR with the 15th St show back in the early aughts.  So there are versions out there.  This is a fresh transfer from the master with new processing.  Enjoy.

Spooky October continues with Dead Low Tide.   What's scarier than the Dead?  Well the 15th Street Tavern's floor and bathrooms were scarier for sure.

Dead Low Tide was Spencer Moody, Cody Willis, and Nate Manny's post Murder City Devils band. Joined by Mike Kunka from God Head Silo and Enemymine.  Mike also recorded an album with the Melvins back in 1999 and never saw the light of day until 2016.  Hell of a band line up.

Dead Low Tide was more post punk than the 70's punk Stooges worship that the Murder City Devils were doing.  Just as interesting in my mind.

Dead Low Tide only put out 7 inch single and then one full length album.  The album didn't come out until they were already split up.   

I remember being super stoked about this show and I think this recording turned out really nice.  I have another set of their from when the opened up for Sparta later in the year.  I might try to get that one up a some point.  Enjoy.

Live at the 15th Street Tavern

A warts and all collection of recordings I made at the 15th St
over the years from 1998 - 2004.  All of these are my recordings except the 1998 Zeke show and the 2002 Orange Goblin show.  I don't have good info on who captured those.

I saw a ton of shows at the 15th Street Tavern over the years.  Way more than I made recordings of.  I managed to capture 35 individual sets from 27 different bands.  Pretty good haul.

It was kind of a dump and the floor was so sticky that it would pull your shoe off if you weren't careful.  The low stage and low ceiling made it a fantastic place to see some loud music though.

My favorite ever show had to have been seeing Queens Of The Stone Age there in 1999.  Right when they were getting going.  Amazing shows from Murder City Devils, Zeke too.

Sound quality is a bit all over the place.  All of it is listenable though.  Like I said warts and all presented in chronological order.
