Church of Misery @ Larimer Lounge, Denver CO, 2019-05-29

It was the metal high holy holidays in Denver during the first part of 2019.  The night before this Church of Misery show I went to a show featuring Genocide Pact, In The Company Of Serpents,Primitive Man, and Full of Hell!!  Then another stacked bill the next night with Church Of Misery, Mondo Generator, and Toke.   Sleep was playing up the road in Boulder on the 29th too.

More shows then I had time, money or energy to catch.  I'm not complaining.  It's a good problem to have.  It's pretty quickly returned to that level these days.  There are a crazy number of good shows in Denver next week.   Including Sleep but also, Idles, John Spencer and the HITmakers, Slim Cessna and more I'm forgetting.  Let the good times roll I guess.

For me Church of Misery is a not to be missed band.  So I had no regrets about missing any other shows on this night.  Big 80 minute plus set.  A bunch of songs I hadn't heard them play before.  So loud!!  Vocalist Hiroyuki Takano had a theremin and some other noise manipulators in front of him.  During intro parts of songs it get quite high pitched and crazy while he was working it.  Presented here for your enjoyment.

As always, support independent artists and business any way you can.  Love one another and go do some good.  Any little bit helps.  Now here are some songs about murders.

Church Of Misery @ Hi Dive, Denver CO, 2013-12-08

This show was a bruiser.  We started off the night with Khemmis.  They had just released their first EP about a month before this show.  This was an early show and they have gone on to greater heights.

Then Denver doom merchants Deer Creek who always deliver the goods.

Ending with the mighty mighty Church of Misery.  I had never seen them before and they blew me away.  They crazy doom boogie thing they do is so fantastic.  The song subject matter scares off most people before they ever hear a note of the music.  Which is a shame because they are missing out on some magic.

Love the way loud metal sounds in the Hi Dive.  Always a top notch FOH person running sound. This night was no different.  I forget who was behind the board but they nailed it and Love how this turned out.

All the "hits" as it where and blasting it out at the end with a cover of Saint Vitus's War Is Our Destiny.

Never miss seeing this band if you get a chance.  Enjoy.
