Send a Smile 4 Kids May Challenge - Cards 4 Dads/Special Guys

The theme for the May Challenge at

Follow SAS4Kids on Facebook!
is
Cards 4 Dads/Special Guys (from the kids)
Anything Goes for kids is always acceptable, too.
We just want to see your wonderful creations
and hope you enjoy making and sharing them!

I've made several cards that will fit this theme.
When making cards which I know are destined for one of the children's hospitals, I try to remember that the "children" may be teens or young adults who might not be interested in giving Dad a cute card with fuzzy bunnies, corny cows, dopey dinosaurs, etc.
I try to make a few like this:
(I know my dad would have liked this one! Miss you Dad!)

My children always had difficulties finding a card that would be appropriate for their step-father.  I thought this card would be great for those "Special" guys.

And what if Dad is in the service, away for work, or lives far away?  Here's a card one of the kids could use.
(In case you can't read the banner because I accidentally moved the camera while taking the picture, it reads " though miles apart, we're close in heart".)

Hopefully I've given you some ideas when you make your cards

4 Dads/Special Guys (from the kids).

It would be great if you joined the fun at the

March Cards 4 Boys Challenge.
(Cards only, please. And they need not be donated.)

March 2nd is my oldest grandson's birthday.
Here's the card I made for him:

It's a side fold slider card.

Then I made the card below, using the negative from the card above, to add to my SAS4Kids box.

Baseball Birthday Card

Today I made a card for my grandson, who will be 19 in a couple weeks.  He lives and breathes to play baseball.  When he was much younger, before T-ball, he loved fire trucks and was going to be a fireman when he grew up.  We worried about the dangers he would encounter as a firefighter.  Then he discovered baseball and things changed.  So far playing baseball, he has broken his arm, sprained his ankle twice, and last fall took a ball to the face and broke his nose in 2 places.   But he is always ready when the Ref says "batter up".

(I used a pinstriped card base from a SU Paper Pumpkin kit and random stamped a baseball cap on it to create my background.  The baseball was from the kit, as well.)

This card follows the sketch for

My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge #680.

The circle sentiment is a MFT die and the stamped sentiment is from the MFT Big Birthday Sentiments Stamp Set.

Additional Challenges:

Top Priority

When I finally got to spend some time in my craft room today, my top priority was making a birthday card for a young man, turning 19 and just starting college.   I spent some time searching for an idea on Pinterest with no success.  I was on my own.

I selected paper first and then a Happy Birthday die.

I was not too thrilled with the result. I set it aside and started again with different paper.  The second piece of paper turned out more to my liking.

It was nice finding those SU donkeys all colored and fussy cut in the box with the stamps!

I used CTMH stamps to finish my first attempt, which will go in the SAS4Kids box.

Still on my work area were 2 die cut "Birthday"s.  I cut a third one from a scrap of paper and 3 balloons and glued them on another piece of paper, and then stamped "Happy" 3 times up the side.  Another card for the SAS4Kids box.

Thanks for visiting my blog.

Tuesday Morning Sketches

Here is the sketch for this week:

This Father's Day/Dad birthday card will make a nice addition to my Send a Smile 4 Kids box, which I better get in the mail soon!

The stamps are from Stampin' Up and the die cut borders are MFT.  I fussy cut the three letters.

I can't wait to visit your blogs and see what you do with this sketch!
