Send a Smile 4 Kids May Challenge

The theme for the May Challenge at

is Cards 4 Dads (From the Kids)

or Anything Goes 4 Kids.

Wouldn't you like to play along?

A dear friend of mine left a bag of fun stamps on my front steps to keep me occupied while staying at home.
I was going to do some spring cleaning, but playing with ink is so much more fun!

Here's a one layer card I made with one of the stamps.

Actually, I only used part of the stamp because it had a birthday sentiment in the lower right corner.  It was so easy to mask that corner of the stamp before inking, inking, then removing the mask (Very Important Step) and stamping on gray cs.  Then I simply stamped the Father's Day sentiment in the corner and using a ruler and gel pen drew the lines.
Finally I colored the image with markers.

If you are interested in making and donating cards to SAS4K, you can find all the information you need right here.

Cards entered do not need to be donated.
I hope you'll enter this month's SAS4K Challenge.

One Layer Father's Day Card

Time to start working on some Father's Day cards.
This will go right on the pile to SAS4K.
Thought I'd make this a one layer card on a kraft card base.
The image stamp is from Rubbernecker's.
The sentiment is CTMH.

Challenges:

And I had enough time yesterday to make this card using a Bugaboo digi image.

One Layer Card + Envelope Part 2

In order to make the card and envelope in yesterday's  post, I used a My Favorite Things matching die cut of the flower to mask an area on the card and envelope while I brushed ink around it.
(I'll keep these with the stamp and die for future use.)
That also left me with a negative of the flower.  I adhered that to another piece of white cs and brushed color around the inside edge to create a second card and envelope.

Flower stamp is from MFT, sentiment stamp is CTMH,

Background crossstitch canvas die is by AlteNew.
I love the tiny bit of texture it gives the card.

And here are the two cards together.  Same stamp, two ways.
I like the pink one best.
How about you?

One Layer Card + Envelope Part 1

One layer cards are generally my least favorite cards to make.  They always look unfinished to me.  But, I really wanted to play in the A Place to Start Challenge, so here is a one layer card and matching envelope.
(I will not promise to mail it this way.)
Flower stamp is from My Favorite Things, sentiment is by Close to My Heart.

Challenges:
A Place to Start Launch Challenge -  A Single layer card and matching envelope or AG
The Flower Challenge #30 - Anything Goes

To see another way I used this flower stamp, check tomorrow's post.  And you might want to glance at the CTMH Joyful Stars Blog Hop post in between for a fun multifold dino card.

Tuesday Throwdown Challenge #409 with Sparkle n Sprinkle

It was so nice of Sparkle n Sprinkle to sponsor

I hope you'll be able to play along.

Sparkle n Sprinkle has a great selection of stamps, both rubber and digital, glitter, embossing powders, cutting files, all your necessary supplies, and more.  You'll definitely want to visit their store, blog and fb page.
Today I used a colored image and a sentiment from the Hummingbirds and Flowers Digital Stamp Set provided by SNS for our design team to use.
Making a one layer card was definitely a challenge for me.
I never make one layer cards.
And I don't think I ever made one using digital stamps.
It really wasn't that hard.
Please join the Tuesday Throwdown Challenge this week by entering your One Layer Card.

Challenges I am entering:
Kitty Bee Designs Challenge #126 - AG; optional twist:Animals
Crafty Cardmakers Challenge #217 - All Creatures Great and Small

One Layer Catch the Bug Card

What a craze the new adult coloring books have become!
You see them everywhere.  The variety of designs is endless.
Today I thought I'd make a coloring page card featuring a spotlight technique.  I love all the owls.

The new digital coloring pages at Bugaboo Stamps are fabulous.  I send most of my cards to Send a Smile 4 Kids to be distributed to patients in Children's Hospitals.  I'm hoping these will be a hit with the older girls.  And, I'm hoping Bugaboo adds a few more coloring page designs to their store.
This is my entry in the current Catch the Bug May Bingo Challenge, following the top row - One layer, Bugaboo Image, Player's Choice - washi tape.

I used a La La Land stitched circle die, colored just that section with markers, and inlaid it back into the page to keep it one layer.  At the bottom I added a strip of glitter trim, washi tape and a few gems.

Here are a few more challenges I am entering:

One Layer Valentine?

Does a ribbon count as a layer?  What about bling?  Does a one layer card mean one layer of paper plus the card base?  Or is the card base the only layer?
Would you consider this a one layer card?

(Stamps and ribbon are CTMH products.  Everything is stamped directly on the card base.  The perimeter was masked before stamping.  Then I used a stylus to score around the card to making it appear to have multiple layers.)
